- I found this Pick in a crypt in a graveyard (!?!?) Taylor and I were exploring. It gave me the idea to make that fireman axe I've been wanting to make!
The Axe was in the yard for many years waiting for a restoration...
...now is that time.

BTW some joker commented i staged the crypt segment "for views" this is 100% real find in real time on the video. i didnt have the idea to use the pick in the this video until few days after i found it. if i thought if it id have taken better video of me picking it up! In fact i shot a fake scene where i found it on the property in the grass .. and then i remember this scene was on the goPro!
How does anyone know there's a crypt scene without watching? Makesnowcents
So is taking that pick from that crypt legal. Just wondering not trying to cause any trouble. Anyway awesome video jimmy
I didn't see it in the top comments so I'll ask the obvious question, why were you exploring a graveyard? Going by the poor condition open and empty crypt, plus all the vegetation, I'd guess it's abandoned or nearly so. Cool axe build and all, but now ya got me curious too! Though I'm not interested in the location. (which is probably a long way away anyhow) Anyhow, thanks for the question-raising video! XD
jimmydiresta The Axe is awesome
jimmydiresta I would never care if you faked a find shot. You making it is real and that’s all that matters.
cool build! great blending work on both the head and handle. shame it's haunted though. :)
hello there! nice videos
with the power of this haunted axe shall summon a demon from Hell and let me to use his power at my will......
Kinda cool if ya ask.
Then you just get a damage boost
Oh come on!! Now I need to make a giant fireman axe 🙄
You mean you don't already have one?
DARE you hahahaha
ha ha...yep!
Jackman Works
Was thinking the same thing 👍🏻😁. 🇺🇸😎
Paul, how about letting pat do a mini-axe?
Watching Jimmy carve a handle on a bandsaw is always such a treat!
The wood handle is remarkable! Awesome
You are very creative and a genious bravo
Wouldn't be a diresta video unless he does most of the rough work on the band saw.
Absolute wizard.
The one thing I always think when seeing your vids is that I need a band saw... No room it put it tough.
*Beautiful, gorgeous, original, and just what you need when the walking dead are coming up your driveway....just sayin'...😎*
What about a small utility style knife out of the axe remnant?
What do you plan on doing with the other end of the pickaxe?
Nice !!
Isn't this technically a Pulaski tool at this point?
A Pulaski has a flat blade on the back, kinda like a hoe. This one is close to a Seagrave pattern fire axe.
Eh, it's kind of six of one, half dozen the other IMO, but you have a point
Parabens excelente sucesso no canal ! Dando uma passadinha para fortalecer
Is that the Detroit Watch Co 1701?
У нас такие на каждом пожарном щите висят )))
I would love to purchase the axe?
Is anybody else envious of the sheer amount of tools this guy gets to play around with i mean seriously his place is like tool heaven
I'm a little envious of his tools but I am a lot more envious of his ability to use them.
You can have all of the best tools money can buy but if you don't know how to use them, they might as well be made of straw.
He has a makerspace fit for monthly membership all to himself if he wants.its a dream come true
I know, that jointer he used has me drooling
I'm just wondering why, with all the tools he has, he chose to use his saw for all the shaping
@@g4mmalotus937 Because he's just really good at it and that's what he's most comfortable with, probably.
The hands on the sticks crack me up..... excellent work, by the way.
Dave Amos Kinda creepy, if you ask me, LOL.
I know, right? Felt almost voyeuristic watching it...
Those teeny liddle Trump hands are a RIOT..!
I love that handle, the curves are perfect!
While that slo mo of the grinding was going on I thought for sure the disc was going to explode
Lol, me too! I was waiting for it!
I thought something was going to catch on fire.
Me too, it made me nervous
Boy, what a welding job. You'd have never known that was two pieces by looking at it.
Nice job brother.
And I'm still in awe of your band saw skills.
Deep respect.
You make shaping that handle with the band saw look easy
I’m just here for the Black linseed oil comments.
what is black linseed oil ive only ever heard of boiled linseed
Is that even legal overseas?!?!?!?!
I assumed it was just black paint
Those mini hands are getting creepier. Haha
Wait, you made something without your name emblazoned on it? You might be slipping. :P
Jokes aside, cool build.
These are the videos I miss the most!
Yeessss!! Agreed!
Ahhh, the little creepy baby hands, lovingly caressing the frankenaxe are the cherry on the sundae that is this video. Excellent work as usual good sir!
You just created the perfect zombie weapon. Congrats on being the chosen one to defend us against the coming hordes.
I am amazed every time you carve an axe handle using just the band saw....simply awesome!!...gonna watch the video again just for that scene!!!...keep up the great vids...Happy LDW!!!
I can't get over how much more educational & entertaining your videos are where you actually make something instead of buy it. Compared to some wanna be hack like the wrangler who just makes videos of all the cool stuff you can order off amazon if your wife is a lawyer. And tries to pass it off as homesteading.
David Harris wow man tell us how you really feel! Haha
I used to be a huge wranglerstar fan before he sold out and started making clickbait. Damn shame.
David Harris expresses those feelings hahah
every thing strangler dose is hi art don you know, lmao
Exactly David! Wranglermart epitomizes the definition of the type of guy that's a tool! No doubt this axe isn't "proper" to him and not up to fire dept. Recommended specs or some other long winded BS
Never pick a fight with a man with an axe to grind. Ya just might find out how hard it is to kick his ash.
Bro you play the bandsaw like a fiddle!! Great idea and video. 👍👍
Amazing conversion: Good job Jimmy!
There’s the cemetery! Great mashup brother. Cool idea!!
Love the shirt too man!
Nice work! Love the outro with the tiny hands!
Jimmy Diresta, Vampire Hunter...Abraham Lincoln would be proud!
Classic Diresta. 🤣. Love the way this axe turned out. Great job!
ManCraftingTM classic Chad, brown nosing lol 😂
jp woodwork classic Jamie Page. Busting chops. 👊🏼
hahahahah
black linsed oil are cool finish! thx
Let's be honest the entire reason for the Frankenaxe is to show off those bandsaw skills on camera, right?
From two rusty old tools to that is amazing 👍 no bee outtakes 😂
Always a good day when a new DIRESTA video pops up. Awesome work.
watch out for bees!!
Even more so, Wasps, Hornets, and Jackets!
Oh man I want that! I think every firefighter that watches this wants it. Totally badass brother!👍🇺🇸
Anybody else rewatching Jimmy videos?
Awesome fireman axe my brother I love it very nice project to later :)
For a brief second, thought you were going to have chicken for dinner at the end of the video.
Jimmy - Make a little chisel or something out of the top piece you cut off. Just a suggestion. Noroc!
Genial, gran trabajo!!😅
ja
Very good work is a work of art. *Perfect* 😱😋👍
;) XDDDDD
My band in college was called Franken Axe. We toured extensively but broke up when I had the premonition that you'd make this tool and name it "Franken Axe". Great build, Jimmy! Use can also use it against the trolls...
BEAUTIFUL FINAL PIECE JIMMY...
YOU JUST GOTTA LAUGH @ THOZE
( UA-cam ARMCHAIR EXPERTS ) JIMMY
( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) JimmyDiresta
That buffer!!! Hey Jimmy, great video, as always.
One of only a few buffers that make the lights dim ... in his neighborhood.
Nem da para saber que se trata de duas ferramentas transformada em uma parabéns ficou otina.
I love your videos, they give me a lot of inspiration to get up and make something but sometimes I forget who I'm watching and I turn my volume up and get ear assaulted everytime.
What do you put into the linseed oil to make it black? Just any old pigment? Say a pigment one might use for epoxy resin?
The pigment has to be oil soluble - I buy pure dry pigment at DeSerres. Goes in everything I have tried to use as a carrier, varnish, both oil and water based, linseed oil, epoxy, Don't be intimidated at the price, a little goes a long way.
@@glennworton2494 thanks for the input.
nice build now return it to the cemetery from whence you stole it - I am sure that crypt was on private property - abandoned or not.
Did the roosters take note of your warning??
Beautiful finish on the axe head from that buffing wheel!
Very good job Jimmy ,greating!
Those chickens were not intimidated at all.........Man....
Gravedigger Jimmy is at it again
Jimmy you really are an artist. I’ve been in awe of your skills for years, you never let your fans down.
It reminds me of the fireman axe video
You were doing so well until you hid the wood in black. Only part I didn't like. Impressive build.
That's actually my favorite part of diresta's videos, when he does something I wouldn't have. That's when I'm like, well now I wanna do it so I can do it this other way.
Perfect work Jimmy!
Awesome axe...great to show a crime ;-P
It’s been said that if you’re a really good person in this life, when you’re reincarnated you come back as Jimmy Diresta’s band saw.
Those tiny trump hands scared the shit out of me!!
Awesome. My OCD approves. Something shiny and all the way brand new looking. Love it! I'm one of the people triggered by half way restored stuff. Like.... SAND IT ALL THE WAY!!! HAHAHA Love your stuff dude.
Your passion for your work always motivates us to build our own projects, just by watching you I leaned alot of tips and tricks. Thanks Mr. Jimmy and love you :)
Should the new ax head be heat treated some way? With all the welding, cutting and grinding, would that help? Or is this (very COOL!) ax just for looks and not for actual use? Would it make any difference or would heat treating just be unnecessary overkill?
I think you should make bottle opener with that leftover part!
Awesome video Jimmy!!!!! Dang that rusty metal cleans up nice!!!!!
Jimmy I make a axe restoration after learn from this video.. thank you jimmy
I feel like that weld is a serious weak spot
Built.
Not bought.
Inspirational stuffs right here.
brought to you by the good hands people
Wouldn't it have been stronger if welded with a stick welder?
Beautiful ... and nice TOUCH at the end lol
all work and no play makes Jimmy a dull boy, Heres Jimmy!!
ficou perfeito parabéns pelo ótimo trabalho like merecido
I used to get fired up about how slow I am at building shit. Then when Instagram stories and I started listening to your podcast. Good things come from time. Thanks for the motivation! I appreciate it.
Jimmy, I was told when looking for wood to make axe handles, to use an oversized piece so the handle could be cut slightly diagonally, so that most of the grain ran perpendicular to the axe head. I see you cut yours straight, so the grain runs diagonally through the handle. Is this a country difference (I'm in the UK) or does the type of wood make a difference to the handle splitting along the grain? Near the base of the axe at 5:40, you can see the grain pattern runs from the middle of the S bend, across the handle, to the opposite side near the base. If this makes sense.
Quien está de un poco de todo?
Very nice work.
Great work Jimmy!! Turned out awesome
Love all the tools you've acquired man
Came out great Jimmy! Still crack up with the tiny hands lol. I think you should carry them on you in case you need to swat away bees! - Jim
Just watched, Jimmy your a Bandsaw Wizard as I am sure others have mentioned before! Great video as always.
but in the end.
my precious! Ho my precious!!😐😐😐
IT'S MINE!!!🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐
Bom trabalho.
Cumprimentos de Portugal
I see a bottle opener in that scrap peace from the axe.
Cool Vid👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻I have the same ear and eye protection you were wearing works great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You do some wonderful work... But I do not is English... I'd like that you put your videos subtitles in Spanish... I send you greetings from Merida yucatan Mexico 🇲🇽
Jimmy, what compound do you use on your buffer? Also what type of bandsaw blade... pitch etc. Cheers... and Hello from Tasmania.Australia.
😂😂😂 Those tiny hands tho! Another Great Video JD! Smart move on the “temporary tapping block” on the bottom of the handle! Inspiration for ME to think ahead when I’m working on projects! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Da gusto ver como trabajas con la sierra ce cinta, y la perspectiva que tienes al fabricar ese mango de madera.

Thank you fort this chef d'œuvre and Allah Bless you fort the good vidéo Kamel from Tunisia (North Africa).
Those little hands in the end need to be charged with sexual assault lol .
You don’t rub something like that little hands.....ITS NOT A STRIPPER POLE! lol
For those saying that welded tools suck, I direct you to Atrox, the Junk Sword made by Micheal Cthulu here on UA-cam. (Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/2RvpJ-JpKDE/v-deo.html and part 2: ua-cam.com/video/DLCG9LoD-tc/v-deo.html ). For the uninitiated, Micheal makes big giant swords and axes from pop culture. He does so via metal work, mainly cutting and welding HardOx. He demonstrates that proper welds with proper materials are just as strong as something forged from one solid piece of steel.
I was trying to work out why he didn't finish/cut the end of the handle, until he pullled out the hammer...
