I’m in the middle of this book and absolutely loving it. It definitely has moments where if you know what is going to happen you are just like ow that line hurt.

"As soon as you start caring, you're in trouble."
I read The Song of Achilles for the first time last month and I absolutely adored it!!! I immediately fell in love with Patroclus' character and his relationship with Achilles. The ending had me shaking, tears streaming down my face which I've never had a book do to me before. Madeline Miller writes so beautifully; the simple qoutes thrown around in the book are so so poignant and I found myself having to pause to just bask in the emotions she invoked by sometimes even lone sentences. I still can't stop thinking about this book and can't wait to pick up Circe soon! Definitely an easy 5 stars for me :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed The Song of Achilles Ashleigh, it got a 5 star from me back when I read it. Madeleine Millers writing is deep ethereal and really unique to Greek Mythology. 🏹

I truly think Madeline Miller is underrated, even with all the hype around Song of Achilles.
Currently reading Circe, don't know why I tried to postpone reading it till autumn, I'm left speechless.

I have not read this book. I have read Circe, and I am deeply deeply fond of that book. That is the best way I can describe my feelings towards Circe as a novel and that is just fondness. It wasn't a five star read for me because there is something off about the way it was written that I can't put my finger on, but I am fond of that book and I do see why people give it five stars or call it their favourite of all time.

I just finished reading the book yesterday and I was a sobbing mess😭 it definitely is my favorite book so far. So many emotions are connected to this book for me. I felt helpless because I wanted to doubt their fate. I was happy, knowing that Patroclus has finally found the recognition he deserved. I was effing angry at thetis. I HATED pyrrhos. I was annoyed at Agamemnon. I was amused by Odysseus. I missed Cheiron. I despised Apoll. I wanted to kill Hektor myself because he took away Patroclus. I was tossing and turning at night because I really didn’t want to read how Achilles died.
What I loved most about this book is the authors writing structure. You could practically see it all happening through your own eyes while you were reading that book.

I liked the story of Song of Achilles better, but liked the writing in Circe better (I thought you could really see her growth as an author). I can't wait for her next book...even though I don't like Shakespeare :/
