    I have 3 x bolts, Ab3 and an old Abolt. None are picky with ammo feed great, well manufactured and most importantly fill the freezer. You won’t go wrong with an xbolt/Leupold combo.:)

    Nice, I did the same thing replacing a tikka t3x .308 with a browning x bolt speed Long range in a .300 win mag with a Leopold scope. Got the VX-5HD, obsessed with it. It’s such a good looking gun.

    I just ordered the spr version in 6.5 prc, i have about 10 browning guns, you can't go wrong with browning, the 3 lug bolt, the safety features of the unlock bolt button, grip of the stalks, and always accurate. My only gun that I like as much but twice the cost is my kimber mtn ascent, simply because of the weight and retains the accuracy.

      Amazing guns! Thanks so much for watching! Those Kimbers might make their way onto the Shane Hunts channel someday to check out. Beautiful guns! Thanks again for watching!

    I just bought a Browning rifle. A Xbolt Speed Long Range 280 ackley improve. Has a 1@8 twist 26-inch barrel. Its still in the box. Waiting for my Leupold VX6 HD 4x24x52mm TMOA scope to come in. This is my first Browning rifle, also.

      Literally just commented this yesterday! Absolutely- that's what it took. A little bit of breaking in and now we are shooting 5/8" groups with the right ammo. Well good enough for me for the shooter I am! Thanks for watching Matt!

    Trivia taking up space in my head. Mark Boardman at the marketing division of Vortex (he doe the Vortex podcasts) highly favors his Browning X-bolt in .300 WSM for just about everything, including black bear. And he shoots it without a brake.
    So, I like the look and finish of this X-Bolt 2. Always good to refine the basics.

    Hello from (Maine North Woods Hunter) we share the same name. I am thinking about purchasing that rifle as well in either 7 PRC or 300 WSM. How is the trigger on the rifle? Is there anything that you do not like about the rifle? Looking forward to more of your videos.

    • @shanehunts
      @shanehunts  2 місяці тому +3

      Hi, Shane! Subbed to your channel! Thanks for watching. I really like the trigger- I find it very consistent. I'll say that in my older Tikka T3, the trigger is a tiny bit lighter (I think it was adjustable from 1.5LBS-4LBS, which I liked a bit more). It was a bit of a change to get the factory 3.5 trigger weight in the Browning. I know it's adjustable down to 3LBS (I think), and so I'll probably end up adjusting a bit. And then, my second gripe is the smoothness of the bolt- it's nice and smooth, but when compared to my Tikka: Tikka wins all day. Like I said- still smooth, just not as smooth in comparison. Maybe something that will come once it's worked in a bit more? Hard to say. That said- those are the only two things. I have plenty more positives about the gun thus far- I shot a 5/8" group this past weekend, I didn't know how a gun could 'fit' until I started shooting this one, and despite the lightweight-ness of this rifle, it kicks even less than my 8-ish pound Tikka. Really happy and would recommend checking one out. Thanks again for watching!

    YOU NEED TO USE SOME LOCTITE (THREAD LOCK) WHEN YOU MOUNT THE BASES TO THE RECEIVER. IT WILL KEEP YOUR BASES AND YOUR SCOPE LOCKED INTO THE CORRECT POSITION.

    My first rifle was an xbolt speed Hells Canyon in 30-06 shoots tight groups with federal premium ammo. Great value for the money. It's build quality is comparible to the highend semi custom 7 prc rifle that I bought this year, those browning actions ARE BUTTER. How were the turrets on your Leupold? I bought one for my prc because of the light weight but was a little unimpressed by how mushy the dials felt. The scope glass is great and can't find much out there in a comparible weight.

    • @shanehunts
      @shanehunts  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks for watching Rusty! Agreed- I was just mentioning in an earlier comment that I finally found awesome ammo that my gun likes- Federal! Turrets on my Freedom are pretty good, I have no complaints! Glass has been great as well, but you can definitely feel the difference as far as reticle and 'crisp' turrets on my VX-3i. Still though- for the money- really really impressed. Thanks again for watching!

    Looks like a decent gun. Bought a browning medallion a bolt in 1989 in 30-06 and will only leave my position in my will. Thousands of lbs of meat since that time. There's not a dam thing wrong with 2 inch groups at 100 meter and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's a lot of money but if it makes you happy then the cost is irrelevant. Have a great day.

    Put match grade ammo through it and check out the groups it can shoot. Coming from owner of a few of these rifles, not saying to hunt with match ammo, but on paper mine were amazing shooters.

      Thanks for watching Donnie! I really do think I can put together a better group with the Core Lokt ammo. I did put a .80" group together the weekend before with the 180 grain Core Lokts. I'm interested to try the match ammo as well- but certainly I'll be trying again soon to see what kind of group I can get. Thanks again for watching!

    Beautiful rifle. Does it shoot? I appreciate browning doing this feature/customization in a rifle but Savage has been doing this “out of the box” customization for any new shooter in a “high country” edition and that’s been almost 4 years ago. Off the shelf ready to hunt. Yes, this is a lighter model than a savage high country edition depending on caliber, imo.
    Thanks for the video.

    Okay like sick gun but maybe put a vx3 on it and not the cheapest Leuphold option. Not even hating on the scope I have two of them but that’s not the gun for that scope. It will preform better if give it the right tools.

    • @shanehunts
      @shanehunts  Місяць тому

      Hahah thanks for watching Austin! Not to worry- I found an ammo that works even with this Leupold option. Will post a video at some point to show. Thanks again, hope to see you back soon!

    I noticed something very profound. Please let us know if you adjusted your scope AFTER you first mounted it. When you were at your table doing the unboxing, your scope was mounted in a certain position. When you were at the range, it was moved forward all the way to where it appears the rear ring is abutting the rear of the tube (which appears to be every bit of an inch difference from when it was first mounted). If you DID NOT reposition your scope to that position, it is loose and is jumping with the recoil. As such, your rifle will never shoot well.
    If you did put in in the position it is in as seen while you are at the range, and you triple checked the torque on action screws and all scope screws, the rifle may not have the ammo it likes yet, or it may need more rounds through it to settle the barrel, or it just may not be a shooter. My hope is your scope is loose and you did NOT reposition it. That alone would explain a lot
    Just a strong recommendation: any time you get a new rifle, always clean the barrel thoroughly, then the chamber, and lube the back of your bolt recoil lugs PRIOR to shooting.

    • @shanehunts
      @shanehunts  2 місяці тому

      You've got a great eye, Derek! You bet- I did adjust the scope before heading to the range just to customize the feel a bit more to myself, personally.
      At the time this video was posted, I just hadn't found the right ammo yet. I'll post a follow up video/review after this season (probably into next year) about my experience with the gun after taking it through a hunting season, but I can confirm with you now that this gun is a shooter. I tried out 165 grain Federal Premium Barnes TSX and gave them a test shoot- they put together a 5/8 group at 100 yards.
      Super happy and impressed with this rifle and definitely more excited now that I found the right ammo.
      Thanks again for watching so thoroughly! Best of luck to you this season, hope to see you back soon!

    Just wondering what happened to the T3 in .308 that you sold all your other guns for? Seems like the older Tikka was shooting better groups than this X-Bolt2? I recently bought the Tikka T3X (waiting period here in Illinois). I was looking at the X-Bolt2 as currently have an A-bolt in 270WSM. I wasn’t about to buy a gun without holding it first. After seeing your groups with these different factory ammo vs the Tikka. I’m glad I made the decision I did. I’m not a great shooter either. So I’ll have to see what the Tikka T3X does

    • @shanehunts
      @shanehunts  3 місяці тому

      Thanks so much for watching Phil! Illinois! Land of the giants. And yes, I'm a sold Tikka fan for absolute sure. I'll never sell my Tikka T3- someone is going to have to pry that from my cold dead heads! You will certainly see me out with that gun during whitetail season. All of that that said, and to be totally fair: my Tikka has a 4.5-14 scope and this one has a 3-9 scope. And I sighted my Tikka in at 100 yards vs my Browning at 100m. So that did contribute to some groupings that certainly could have been tighter. Plus my second time shooting the Browning in this video versus my 1000th time with my Tikka. Plus still trying to find the 'right ammo', but I did hit a 0.80 group on my first shoot the weekend before! So lots of factors playing into why I might not be getting those 0.5 inch groups... Yet. :) thanks again for watching Phil!

    I’m having such a hard time choosing between a tikka roughtech and the browning x bolt speed 2 both have fluted bolts barrels In 308 I feel like the bolt and the trigger on the tikka better but the metal trigger guard which one would do you prefer your tikka or browning?

    • @shanehunts
      @shanehunts  2 місяці тому +1

      For what it's worth, I have had my Tikka for much longer than my Browning. I really really love them both. They are beautiful and each have their pros and cons. That said, I'm still getting used to my Browning and am still trying to find an ammo it really likes. I did the same for my Tikka, then I found the ammo it likes. And now it shoots unreal and it's also beautiful. I love my Tikka T3 and think it's going to be hard to de-throne that rifle! But on the same token- the Browning is really awesome and I love it too. Tikka would be my pick, but it would be based ONLY on my time spent with that rifle and the sentimentality of what we have been through together! Congrats on whatever you choose- both amazing companies that make quality firearms!
