I'm engineer of Holiday Inn Express. I've been on fmla for 12 weeks due to spinal fusion. I get back to work and every room of my hotel has been swapped from zonlelines to these hotpoints! Needless to say....these are a nightmare! Totally hate working on them!
My company just bought a truckload of these units. They're being produced by Goodman Amana now as part of their "distinction" series. Good video, but I would recommend cutting your thermostat wire cleaner. You shouldn't have any exposed wire showing after you stick it in and screw them down. This exposes wire and can cause shorts, especially when connecting and using the common wire so close the the 24v positive.
Thanks. You are right, they exposed wires should be shorter. I actually just got a new shipment last week, and they are the Amana Distinction series. They are exactly the same.
You know, I have no idea. I've installed about 15 of these now, and never paid attention to see if there was weep holes or not. Next time I install one I'll pay closer attention and write a second reply.
Ok sounds good, and to note for anyone watching, if u plan to use the 2 stages of heating, the heat pump reversing valve lead goes to 4-way, and second stage goes to heat one.
What could be the issue is the unit is not producing any heat? I have the wiring correct and the air conditioner worked fine all summer. Now when switching to heat , the unit is still blowing cool air
We just received these and are still a little confused as I have 8 wires and am still confused about it as I understand what he is wiring but they should be better instructions on hookups. the manual they sent doesn't explain much
So, I find that the dip switch, second from the right, needs to be either up or down depending on the thermostat you use. Leave all dip switches, but change that one and see if it works. Also, if your thermostat has a setting for electric/heat pump make sure it's set to electric.
Thanks, I have about 20 of these to do 💪

Thanks a bunch! I have a unit that shows LC and I don't have a manual for it. We only have about 7 HP units here. Thank you for this
Glad it helped!
Thank you, Steven.

And where is your auxiliary button on these rags??
Hey, I have one of these units I installed today. Where does the unit drain into the sleeve? I don’t see any weep holes. Thanks

My hotpoint has all red dip switches. This setting doesn't seem to work with red switches?
Great video.
Every time I set it up like this the AC works but the heat will not come on and I can’t find a single video addressing it

No, the manual is terrible.
I can install smart thermostat???
Nest?
Likely. they should work with any thermostat that works with a unit that has both heat and cool settings.
Manual?
You can download one
I followed all your video and the A/C didn't work for me. I think I'm missing something else that you mentioned.
