You absolutely nailed it! I was looking for a 4-4.5” knife and became interested in magnacut after reading about it. Survives GSO 4.5 fit the bill. They gave a 30-90 day lead time so I ordered one. That was March 3rd 2023. I have no knife, and no contact with Survive. They had a UA-cam channel where they constantly post videos documenting all of their progress but still no knife and most comments are people voicing the same thing. Deceptive is a kind way to describe their business practice.
I managed a refund having ordered the same knife for the same reasons a year earlier. Their site made it look like i was buying a knife, then I found out I paid pretty close to full price for a pre order...then they decided they had other knives to work on, so the gso 4.5 work and shipping date kept getting pushed back further and furhter. I eventually got fed up- I had bought the knife for use in the 2022 seasin (ordered in March) and by winter of that year all they had were pictures of other knives they were working on
Thank you for discussing the terrible state of the Survive Knives company and customer service. I’d like a GSO 5.1 or 5.3 - it checks all my boxes in a survival knife. I refuse to support them however. If they were just upfront about the wait time it would be fine. It almost seems like a scheme similar to a Ponzi scheme by taking everyone’s money, but not giving everyone their knives. They still have unfulfilled orders from 2018, 2019, 2020 and so on.
This is EXACTLY what I was trying to say in this video. It’s unfortunate some people here do not realize they have unfulfilled orders dating back YEARS. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen because they don’t seem to have an issue with taking money, just with providing products
I preordered a EDC 4 back in September of 2022 thinking maybe it would be in for Christmas… boy was I wrong… and then all you get in return is sorry we can’t keep up with everyone asking about their order. Like what the hell kind of business motto is that. They try to scale way to quick and have all kind of posts about new blades when they have people still waiting on their order.
They also say on their website that they "absolutely will not compromise on their quality standards" to get knives out quicker then turn right around and sell factory seconds!! WTF!!!
@ellasmith9280.. if you go back through Survive’s video’s you will find that the reason they started coating Magnacut was to hide imperfections in the steel and cover would be losses...and their getting full price for those which should have been factory seconds...
From their update videos they seem have have basically abandoned 5.1 and other magnacut offerings. They are going way more into other steels and their smaller “EDC” line. You’re basically screwed if you ordered a large knife with a high demand steel from them. It sucks when you throw the money in to support a company and they basically put your order on the back burner in favor of easier projects. They keep saying they’re “wrapping up all preorders” and most of the ordered knives are in “grinding” or “heat treat” but months pass and it seems like no one has gotten their order still.
Guy has burned too many bridges at this point and Steel manufacturers and distributors don’t want anything to do with Survive. He is having a hard time getting hands on CPM steels and is posting up videos to pressure Niagara.

Yeah, I’m starting to get suspicious. They didn’t realize there were voids in their material until a week before they claim they’re going to start shipping their knives out? They’re either the unluckiest company in the world or they can’t actually fulfill orders so they make excuses.

Many people say it took 2 years for surviveknives to ship out their order. You might place an order with surviveknives and not be alive by the time you receive your order. So, put a secondary address as your local cemetery. I'm just joking. But at least figure out what family member you want to inherit the knife incase you aren't alive by the time it arrives. A lot can happen in 2 years
If it isn't clear to anyone watching- buy an Architect; same heat treatment facility (Peter's), White River blade, Esee handle. Magacut and 3V available. They actually send you a knife when you pay for one, too.
I think a good competitive option to this would be the Architect knives from The Knife Connection. They are fairly similar in design and they make them in 1095 or 3V. The blades are made by tops. I have the field buddy 5.5 and it's great.

I am not going to regurgitate useless information. If you disagree then great. But the overwhelming majority of us who have actually bought and some of us who own these knives is in line with my stated position

I have 4 edc4 knives in different variations and 2 gso 5.1. One gso 5.1 I ordered off ebay because I didn’t want to wait for order. The other I ordered was in stock and I received in about 2 weeks. The first edc 4 I waited a year but others about 2 weeks. I have 4 more on order and I am not selling any of mine. Very good quality and worth the wait to me. YMMV.
I couldn’t agree more, hell of a good knife. But a little too laxed for me! It’s almost like businesses today think that they don’t work for the customer anymore, but rather the customer works for them and owes them!! It’s like the consumer has no power anymore, the money in our pocket means nothing because they know we are going to give it to them no matter what. Well Not Me!! And I must say I am more than a little disappointed with LT Wright, I have tried for such a long time to obtain two of three of their knifes and it is impossible! I even joined their club thinking this would give me the opportunity to purchase an LT Wright knife, I have never seen anyone so damn independent..! If there knifes weren’t so good I would have written them off long ago I probably will anyway! Because if you are so independent that you don’t give a crap about supplying your customers with the products that has made you what you are today! Then you may not continue to be so sought after if enough people get fed up! I for one am at that point! And businesses work for the consumer Not the other way around..! Sorry for the rant. Guess I’ve been pissed for a while! But it’s time consumers take back the power! We have what businesses need, our money!! We need to stop giving it to them unless they earn it.
I have the 5.1 in magnacut, it is my mountain/camp knife. I find myself reaching to my 5.0 in 3V more often or to carry. The micarta on the old style 5.0 is much more grippy than the G10 on the larger blade. The jimping and choil are one characteristic I like very much when choking up. It took a year to get the 5.1. Guy has had problems and has moved from Gettysburg to Idaho and now back again, but has always delivered. I talked to Guy on the phone and found customer service to be very good, always returning emails, etc. I hope as he says production and delivery times are problems he’s working to correct . Love the blade geometry and quality and as I said, I have two of these fine knives where a Winkler or some other knives cost twice the price using a lesser quality steel.
Nice Shilling... Guy and team don't respond. Stop lying. They take orders, double sell it as a second, and keep the scam going. Not cool trying to keep the scam alive.
I have experienced both the long wait times and lack of response to emails and phone calls. However, I’ve noticed that they’ve recently been much better on both fronts as they have streamlined their manufacturing processes.
I have also ordered a 4.7 in magnacut 2 years ago with no hope in sight of getting my knife. I really like the knives and have owned 4 so far but this will be the last unfortunately.
I placed an order in May of 2016. 2 year wait is when they sell your knife on a sale and drag your order out. Heck, it took 6.5 years to get the 7/7. I canceled the 5.1 cause they never were going to make it in under 5 years. 8 years now and they still have open orders.
The sad thing is the owners probably don't give a shit. It's up to us as customers to stop paying these ridiculous prices for knives. That would force manufacturers to lower prices. I would recommend gerber knives to everyone also ka-bar and tops are reasonably priced.
I ordered a GSO 4.7 a couple of months ago. I inquired into the status via email a couple of times, and I was responded to both of those times. I know that the wait time is going to be longer, but I am not in a hurry, and I'm excited to receive a fixed blade with such high quality standards.
Survive! I'm absolutely allergic to this name! I ordered and paid for a 5.1 in Magnacut in September 2022. and? Sure, I'm still waiting for the knife! Email inquiries are rarely answered. and if so, blah blah blah patience, problems, and empty promises next month. What this manufacturer allows is an absolute disgrace. takes the customers' money and uses it to finance a fantasy creation! Money back ? forget it! I'm used to waiting from custom manufacturers. usually 50% deposit and a maximum of 12 months waiting time. but what Survive allows itself to do is absolutely incredible! One thing is for sure, never survive again! even if they were the best knives in the galaxy. And no, I'm not the only knife lover this affects.
Hello, I had to wait 16 months to receive my EDC-4 from SURVIVE. It cost me a lot of nerves. I had ordered the knife in Magnacut. But then I had to change the steel and the handles to be able to get it at all. SURVIVE allegedly had problems with Magnacut. Sometimes the company even replied to my emails. But SURVIVE often lied to me. In the end, I even had to threaten to call a lawyer. Now I have the knife in K890 steel with black Micarta handles. I am very curious about the steel. It is rare for knives. Because of the problems you very honestly mentioned with the company, I would probably not order another knife from SURVIVE. But the knife I own from SURVIVE is of very good quality. I feel a little sorry for SURVIVE. But I feel even sorrier for the customers who rightly feel cheated. A knife manufacturer lives from its customers. That's why I can't understand SURVIVE. Thank you for your very honest video. I confirm your every word. Best regards J
Looks like Guy has burned too many bridges at this point and Steel manufacturers and distributors don’t want anything to do with Survive. Legal action is pending and Survive is posting videos to put pressure on Niagara so they sell him steel. What a mess.
Good info thank you. They look like great knives but hearing some of the wait times is a concern. I have ordered a WC Collin’s knife and William is very up front on the wait time and he provides a fortnightly production update 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Bad experience with an order not getting into the assemby line a year and a half after paying for it (it appeared to be in stock when I paid). Got a refund, bought a Bark River. Apparently that was a problem with steel and heat treatment Survive! outsourced.
I had only seen positive reviews of their knives on UA-cam, but no talk of their business as a whole. I went and placed a pre order with them before i discovered all of the drama they've had. Oh well. Hopefully i don't have to wait years... it seems most of their long wait times involve the GSO 10 and 12 or magnacut knives. I pre ordered a 3v knife so hoping it's not an issue. Until then, I'm going to buy an architect knife in magnacut!
I have a BSS 5 escape evation ? I like it a tad better because it has a slight swedge and about an half inch longer ? I had it a while now , the ergos are awesome, definitely a chunk of steel , ive wanted 1 blade with me that I could use as a general purpose, dangerously scary sharp ! Probably the sharpest blade I had gotten out of the box
@AlaskanFrontier1 it's the Black Scout Surival knive made by Survive Knives its has a couple different things changed but its basically 5.0 but I believe its a tad longer with a slight swedge
I've been waiting 2.5 years for my 5.01 in Magnacut! Finally got sick of their Magnacut Drama, told them to just change my order to CPM-3V steel! Oh, and they will LIE, STRAIGHT to your FACE! When I placed my order 2.5 years ago, he said I would have it by Christmas! He just didn't say what year Christmas it would be delivered! I personally IMO think the Owner is a Sociopath, he certainly meets the definition criteria if you look it up!
GSO-6 is better. I detest finger choils. Great knives, but their business model is a joke. 5 years to get my PAID IN FULL PRE-ORDER. Mainly because they're constantly designing new models & making them before existing pre- orders. They're still doing it as well. Pre-ordered the vendeta 7 when it came out about 2 years ago. They have pumped out like 4 new models since then (in variousnew steels) & my vendeta 7 is still nowhere to be seen???? It's most annoying. I won't be buying or ordering anything else from them until they get their production issues fixed. Won't be holding my breath on that....
The funny thing is that they're shooting themselves in the foot by not getting PAID IN FULL pre-orders made & shiped asap. Rising material prices & inflation exists. It's not a big deal for 1 blade, but hundreds or thousands of blades equates to a very large chunk of money/profit.
Took three plus years to get my GSO 5.1 Bushcrafter. Very good knife, but it will be my last. Seems like Survive would rather complain about steel quality and other problems than make knives.
I have a 4.1 in 3V, a model that has been discontinued but is being brought back as the 4. For a smaller knife, it is a beast. I compare every knife I have purchased since to it. The amount of models Survive has put out is crazy. I will be purchasing another from them this year. Yes, the availability has always been an issue. I wasnt bothered by it, I knew there would be a wait. It took approximately 2 months from order to my door.
I have 12 Survives and can say they are excellent. I do not believe in aggrevation so I bypass survive store and buy off ebay.... I have yet to find a better knife for the money. I do need to ask about your video, how many times did you email, call, etc?
Ordered mine on December 11th, 2022 and have not received mine yet. Trying to contact them to get a refund with no answer. If somebody wants something equivalent to this knife, just go by a lion steel t6
@@tacticalcenter8658 whether there is a solid reason or not for the wait, it is still a wait time. What would knowing the context do? Would it make people more comfortable waiting 2 years to receive a knife?

I have access to EVERYTHING Survive Knives makes. I’ll tell you Survive Knives makes amazing quality USA made knives. The owner Guy has serious attention to detail and won’t accept anything less than perfection. My EDC-4 in Magnacut passed all the testing, hard use and edc use. I'm glad I stayed away from GSO knives. I've heard a lot of negative things about them so I don't think I'll ever own one unless someone already has one and is selling. But I'm not risking paying $300 and never see a knife. That's just a shady af business practice.

Good info thank you. They look like great knives but hearing some of the wait times is a concern. I have ordered a WC Collin’s knife and William is very up front on the wait time and he provides a fortnightly production update 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
I had the 5.1 in magnacut and it took around 14 months after I placed my order. Great knife, however, I sold it.
I’m happy you were able to get yours in a decent time frame
I ordered a GSO 5.1 Oct 2022, still have no update about this order. Wow...seems like there are many of us.
Heh... 3 yrs for me..
Thanks for the heads up on this information 🙌🏼🙌🏼
You betcha
Outstanding knives since 2015!
Yes, they still owe people knives ordered in 2015.
Outstanding orders since 2015!! 😂
Not anymore. People waited almost 10 years to be scammed. Damn
Bad experience with an order not getting into the assemby line a year and a half after paying for it (it appeared to be in stock when I paid). Got a refund, bought a Bark River. Apparently that was a problem with steel and heat treatment Survive! outsourced.
@user-wv6kt3vs2n I think BRK uses the same heat treating company...
Thank you for this information
Huh what knife is this?
Scam! Knives
I wonder if my pre-order for a GSO 5.1 from 2020 will actually survive... 😭
John Malkovich.!!!
Present!
I'm going on 2yrs waiting for my knife they said would be a maximum wait of 90 days.
Yikes
Took three plus years to get my GSO 5.1 Bushcrafter. Very good knife, but it will be my last. Seems like Survive would rather complain about steel quality and other problems than make knives.
Yikes
Where can i get one?
I ordered a GSO 5.1 August 2023. Still no knife. The knife will probably be awesome when/ if I ever receive it, but I’ll never order from them again.
Yikes
Sorry to say but you won’t be reviving it. Survive is dead
What r u talking about it's almost been a 4th yr for me ?
I have a 4.1 in 3V, a model that has been discontinued but is being brought back as the 4. For a smaller knife, it is a beast. I compare every knife I have purchased since to it. The amount of models Survive has put out is crazy. I will be purchasing another from them this year. Yes, the availability has always been an issue. I wasnt bothered by it, I knew there would be a wait. It took approximately 2 months from order to my door.
@jameswysocki6806...I’ve had two knives on order with them since before Magnacut was invented!
@@dlrmon1 I believe it. When I ordered mine, I was crossing my fingers on when it would be delivered. I feel like I was quite lucky.
@jameswysocki6806 you got a knife on the back of many ripped off people...they still owe knives back to 2015. Don't support these people.
I have 12 Survives and can say they are excellent. I do not believe in aggrevation so I bypass survive store and buy off ebay.... I have yet to find a better knife for the money. I do need to ask about your video, how many times did you email, call, etc?
I bought my on secondary because I knew chances of getting one from ordering were slim
Why support a company that won't support you?
What if you needed service?
Ordered mine on December 11th, 2022 and have not received mine yet. Trying to contact them to get a refund with no answer. If somebody wants something equivalent to this knife, just go by a lion steel t6
You haven't watched Survive! videos for the last year, especially the last few months explaining all the issues.
Don’t need to
You mean you don't care.
Got it.
You should so you could have added that info to this video.
Things should improve this year.
@@tacticalcenter8658 whether there is a solid reason or not for the wait, it is still a wait time. What would knowing the context do? Would it make people more comfortable waiting 2 years to receive a knife?
yES IT WOULD!@@AlaskanFrontier1
@@TheMightybasstone still doesn’t justify having open orders going back to 2018.
All of you waiting need to get together and file a class action law suit against that company. I would rather buy from LW Wright.
There is no such thing as a" survival "knife. What you have with you, and managed to survive your situation is a knife of survival. If you build a shelter with a shovel, is it a bushcraft shovel?I have used my tri fold shovel to cook food, is it a survival stove?Your pitch is good.Your logic is not.Expressing your opinion is understandable. You relate more to the product then the skills
For reference, I totally know what you mean and agree, this is focused on this knife and brand specifically.
This knife needs no review....
thanks for the video, can't agree with you more, very poor service
I try! Put my viewers first and keep them informed
The video is up on my channel if you’re interested.
Amazing knives made for real world use. Top notch heat treatment at Peeters Heat Treatment as well.
Any questions feel free to ask. Good stuff man. I can’t wait to see you test it.👊💪
I appreciate the glowing review and the fact that you can get them is good. I will say they do make a good product but having unfulfilled orders dating back as far as 2018 is unacceptable.
Keep shilling for a con artist...
Whatsthepoint EDC... Do you have any integrity?
You enjoy screwing over hard working people?
Why do you get access above and beyond paying customers from 2015?....
That speaks volumes.
@@robcarey4189 It’s a cruel world. Sometimes only the big fish get to eat. Sorry.
PS If you said it differently I would have given you the real answer. Clown.🤡
Guy won't accept anything less than perfection but sells factory seconds 🙄
You should check out the L.T Wright Illuminous 5 in 3V too. EDIT: Check out Sagewood Gear for a really good sheath adapter. I have the GSO 5.1 in 3V
I'm glad I stayed away from GSO knives. I've heard a lot of negative things about them so I don't think I'll ever own one unless someone already has one and is selling. But I'm not risking paying $300 and never see a knife. That's just a shady af business practice.
