    The “Cub” is a mini version of the now defunct BR Grizzly 9”+ blade. The first few runs of the Cub were ground to thin (especially the tips) to be a survival knife for me. The latest run is a awesome knife and I’m struggling with which I like better. The BR Bravo Clip Point or the Cub. But when faced with a possible “Survival Situation” I still reach for my 3V BR Bravo 1.5 field knife...

      In winter or wet weather I still tend to grab my Fallkniven A1...

      @@dlrmon1 this is good to know thank you very much for the feedback. The A1 is great

      A full thickness bravo 1.5 in 3v is an absolute beast, while still being reasonable to carry.

    I got the Cub EDC in 3V by mistake thinking I'd ordered the regular Cub like a dummy. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it.

    Bark River had a larger version called the "Grizzly" if I remember correctly. I've owned the Cub 3v for a few years now.Its a great "crossover" design, in my opinion. Self-defense/ wilderness blade. Great revew as usual!

    It's a cub to the bark river grizzly

      Yeah I love my Grizzly. It’s an absolute unit for a survival knife you would carry all the time though.

    I wanted the cub so badly and then I preordered one but was disappointed when I received it because of the high level of imperfections. The plunge grinds were high asymmetrical to one side, the grinds on blade were higher one side compared to the other, and one fuller was cleanly finished while the other had a dark black unfinished look. If anyone can tell me if Bark River has recently dramatically improved the Quality control I’d be willing to give them a shot again.

      I mean mine is sold I think the biggest issue is these are hand made and in this day and age people come to expect machines perfection, for me I have never had a BRK with wildly out of spec grinds

    Oh! And on the sheathes, BRK sheathes are thin. Hey, BRK, go to JRE Industry to make you sheaths. Just my thoughts

    I've always liked Bark River Knives...I'm sorry to say that the retention issue with the sheath is a deal breaker for me. NICE looking sheath but for the price of the knife the sheath needs better retention. Shouldn't be required to spend more just to get a sheath that retains better. I'd hate to lose it, especially with scout carry. Oh well, maybe someone from Bark River will view the video and make adjustments to the sheath?? Thanks for the review...

      I mean I do get what you mean, I will just make some mods luckily BRK makes anything right. They stand by their product 100%

    Oh I like the look of the Bark Rivers and for such a high quality design and steel the price looks reasonable 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

    I only have one Bark River and it's a Canadian in 3V. The damn thing is so pretty that it became a safe queen. The convex grind is a total razor blade.

    I'm really wanting one of these. Been hesitant though because of all the internet drama directed towards BRK. I love the cub model though, so I'll probably grab one. Preferably with a wood handle!

      Those people are bitter as hell I have owned over a dozen BRKs and currently have atleast five, they are solid. They are hand made so there are slight quirks but nothing that interferes with the quality

  • @scrick7112

    Hi . I have several Barkies. I just wish they had a LT Wright spine. Have you ever modded your BRK’s?

    • @AlaskanFrontier1
      @AlaskanFrontier1  7 місяців тому

      I have modded previous ones but the spine is still sharp enough, according to Mike he doesn’t leave them as sharp so as to not accidentally cut yourself when your skin is cold and more tender

    What’s up man! I just saw “The Knife Connection” TOPS Architect AK-6.5 in CPM-3V. It looks sick! Do you think it’s a better and cheaper choice than the bark river?

    • @AlaskanFrontier1
      @AlaskanFrontier1  7 місяців тому

      I got one! Thanks for the call out. It’s honestly on par with the BRK price wise but both are solid picks
