Corporal , matt Graham is a legendary survival instructor , ...
      As are you .
I'm not familiar with some of your other instructors on SMO
but please , for the love of God, Do not allow your elite organisation to be associated with grylls...
      He's a fraud .
He's been caught pretending to sleep in the wilderness ,whilst in reality he's been evacuated by helicopter to luxury hotels ...
He IS a bona-fide expert on rope work and climbing .
The rest of his survival skills are no better than mine , and I'm only a keen amateur .
Grylls is not in the same league as people like you , matt Graham, major Andrew ogle , dave Canterbury, Ray mears ,etc.etc.etc...
      He's a one trick pony , a nountaineer , that's it .
Obviously you're the boss and it's your decision but I wanted to give you the heads up on grylls .

I got mine in late 1985 when I was in the Army because the sheath came with Alice clips to attach it to my web gear. It has the Tac-II logo, then below it, "First Production Run - 1985". The tang stamp says, "Bench Mark by Gerber" with a serial # stamped on the other side. It cost $80 in 1985 - lot of money for a Private back then. (according to an online inflation calculator, that would be $234 in 2024 dollars) I bought it before Jack Burton made it famous. We were allowed to carry our personal knives in the field, but not in garrison. I didn't know it was going to become a collector's item some day, so used the heck out of it, but it still looks remarkably good. It's also a bitch to sharpen by hand, but holds an edge forever.

People know boundaries, bullets do not. This should be the first rule of any weapons handling instruction. Inexperienced people that use firearms have no care or regard where that projectile goes. 90 seconds in and Corporal has taught a life lesson already.

The first time I watched Big Trouble in Little China was when I stayed home sick from middle school with a nasty flu. My dad stopped off on his way home from work and picked up a couple VHS tapes from the local movie rental store (before Blockbuster) I had the weirdest fever dreams that night.

You can fix that handle with a mold (using the other side of the knife for the correct dimensions), superglue, and baking soda... also some black dye or acrylic paint to make it look the same color.
Just a friendly tip, one man of culture to another.

Your videos are pretty cool and educational. They teach and entertain at the same time. To be honest, I miss the over night videos when you would put together a decent shelter. “It ain’t raining, we ain’t training” ones. And then instead of a quick together meal in a can or soup, you would put together a meal something out of a cook book style!
I’m sure you have a busy life and all kinds of things going on. Just stating a fact that your old style overnight videos were awesome. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. Those videos bring mad views.
    Salute to you corporal.

You are indeed correct sir! A must see, some would say cult, movie. Egg Shen, RIP Victor, had a wonderful line . . ."Of course the Chinese mix everything up. Look at what they have to work with. There's Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoist alchemy and sorcery. We take what we want and leave the rest. Just like your salad bar." The Lo Pan "Mr. Burton" lines are so, so quotable. "Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to 'get it!'" There are too many little jokes and one liners to catch in one viewing. Buy the DVD.
    BTW, nice knife.

I just ordered your Frontier SKillet! You can try to fix your Gerber knife by using Brownelss Acraglas gel. Screw some small screws into the damaged are for the gel to bond too. it make take a few thin layers to build it up to the point where you can sand it down to conform to the shape you want. Dye the gel black first and I bet it will look prtetty good if u do it right.

LMAO. I remember the movie very well but can't throw a knife to save my life. I had the Gerber Mk 2 which, at that time, was the most expensive one I had ever owned. Was in an amphib exercise, got dumped out of the Zodiac, had to cut my boots off (which is why we laced the boots that way) couldn't re-sheath the knife in the waves and dumped it. Never got around to replacing it. Sad. I do, however, have a copy of the DVD. Really enjoy your instruction on knots - a forgotten art. Cheers!
