    I almost never comment on videos, but I have to say that you deserve way more subscribers. You make me remember why it's ok to be nostalgic, and why it's ok to take comfort in the things that make us happy. Sometimes life can be the shits (as you mentioned in this video) and I have gone through similar times. Basically fuck anyone who says video games or collecting is silly or immature. It makes us happy and that's all that matters. Keep doing what you are doing, because you are bringing joy to a lot of people.

    I actually tried to get into the game-collecting craze since the last decade, but due to the ridiculous prices of older game cartridges in recent years, I decided to only focus on collecting things that interest me the most as long as its in my price range, especially if I'm running out of space to display things in my room, in which I'm able to sell some of my belongings without resorting to hording.

    In 2006, when I first got into Castlevania, I would call the same EB Games every single day asking if they had Castlevania Dracula X (and EarthBound). I probably irritated the poor clerks because of my persistence. It was THE holy grail for me at the time. Seeing someone hold an actual physical copy of it is surreal.

    Back in 2017 I had a string of medical expenses, as well as needing to buy a new car. As a result I sold about 25% of my collection which included some games I never wanted to sell. I feel you in having to part with games from your collection; you get attached to them over time and sometimes the memory of where you bought them is just as special ad the game itself. I'm really happy things have improved for you and that you're able to rebuild again. I'm currently rebuilding as well :)

    Cool to see you back, I like the format and I'm glad to see things are going better. I remember watching your Top 20 and Collecting Video Games series way back when. I just wanted to say I had been tangentially aware of The Cover Project before you covered it, but that really showed me how nice the finished product could look. I never forgot that video (hard to believe that was like 7 years ago) and finally, I'm in a place where I have the time and money to take the plunge. I just wanted to thank you for that.
    Nice cameo from Ian. Those SNES pick-ups are great, too. Any shmup is a good find in my opinion and I had never even heard of King Of Dragons until now. I'm fully immersed in the Dreamcast at the moment. Going for a full US set, just made a trade for Skies Of Arcadia which is awesome. Having watched this video though, I'm now reminded to go pick up a copy of Super Bomberman 2. I love that game.

    Amazing how many people know Schrödinger's Cat from Big Bang Theory. Yet nobody understands it and misses the point. Even Quantic Dream explained it wrong in the main menu of Detroit.

    • @NESComplex
      @NESComplex  5 років тому

      I actually learned about it from the Zero Escape (999) games. But I read about it specifically before making this. I sound like an idiot often enough as it is. I wanted to explain it right

    • @Cetra29
      @Cetra29 5 років тому

      @@NESComplex Don't worry, I did not mean you in particular. Most people just do not understand that Schrödinger's Cat is a thought experiment by Schrödinger that is supposed to only emphasize the possible paradoxical nature of things that are no bigger "bodies", objects or whatever you want to call it instead of those where you cannot apply those rules, objects that are part of the macroscopic system (like the cat), part of our ordinary daily perception and evaluation system other than stuff like photons, etc., meaning pretty much every time in pop-culture it is used for exactly the wrong example. The point most of the time is just "you don't know until you look" anyway but still it is always baffling to me when people think it is supposed to be taken literally while in reality it was the case that this thought experiment differentiated where that paradoxical state is not possible in a literal sense. If people only use it for "you'll never know until you look" it is fine. I just am so confused because it got so much attention in pop-culture nowadays, just like multiverse theory and a lot of things. That shows like BBT help twisting things for a lot of scientific things, not only this one, does not help either. You see me having already written that paragraph and I have not even used terms that might be unknown to people which also might result in misunderstandings.

    • @NESComplex
      @NESComplex  5 років тому

      I definitely concede you are much more informed than I am. Lol.

    • @Cetra29
      @Cetra29 5 років тому

      @@NESComplex Basically you just need to think of the old pseudo-philosophical question "does a tree make a noise when it falls even if there is nobody to hear it?" Yes, yes it does. Even if there is no cognitive system (our brain) to evaluate it, the truth, the information of the noise that travels via sound of course still exists. Same for a cat. A cat is dead when its dead. Not when somebody opens a box and Schrödinger knew that thus pointed out that you cannot use those quantum measuring rules for something like that. It is not just a photon or an electron or whatever. Now I always end the whole Schrödinger thing with what I already said "whatever, even if it is not possible for stuff on a bigger scale to be of paradoxial nature it does not change the fact that we have no idea until we check it out" so even if the experiment is misused in pop-culture it does not take away this basic truth. "You'll never know until you try"
      Sorry to waste your time with that, lol.

    Home release of Magic Sword was unfortunately a letdown because it got only single player like a lot of Capcom games of the time (like the sad port of Final Fight!). My buddy and I used to play Magic Sword co-op in the arcade. He did end up picking it up on the SNES but it was just not the same experience. Could have been so much more. Capcom really ruined a few great home releases back then. Games were all about co-op or VS mode back then!
    FF II (IV) / III (VI) are some of my favorite games of the series. Glad you got the original carts.
    Also glad that you opened up the Mega Man games. They are just repros anyway (even if they are good repros).

    • @zborgerd
      @zborgerd 5 років тому

      @@NESComplex Way better because it's 2 player. If you want a physical 2-Player version, you can get it on the "Capcom Classics" collection for PS2 / Xbox. Music sounds different because of the CPS Yamaha chip vs SNES. I'm not necessarily more of a Genesis fan than SNES but the home version would have been better off there at the time (like the Strider port was). Early SNES ports of CPS-1 games were really lazy and the SNES / CPS-1 differences didn't help matters (where the Genesis was practically a CPS-1). I was never happy with most of the CPS-1 to SNES conversions. I skipped out on Final Fight because they killed the co-op. Things got better by the time SF2 and Knights of the Round were released, because the home ports were more polished.
