I read somewhere that putting them in soil will have them grow sturdier, apparently they're more fragile when grown in only water.

I have mine in soil and yes they are very sturdy as they have nutrients to absorb

      did they need sunlight ?

@@CandiOsaka well all plants need sunlight. I just put it in my window sill and it grew perfectly. Changing the water is the most important thing to do though. After a few days it gets smelly

Lots of sunlight makes them darker and taste better, they don’t like heat, you can put a plastic bag over them to retain moisture and you can also keep them in your fridge for a few months and usually up to a year but they’ll be a light color

I accidentally did this. I put them in a cup of water and placed them in my fridge because I noticed that they wilted very fast. I had them in there for about two weeks slowly taking one stem when needed.
Then I noticed that they grew so tall they were touching the top of the fridge and the stems were bending. I also noticed the water was pretty murky, so I poured it out and added new ones, then I placed them on my kitchen couter. Two days later, they grew so long they were touching the bottom of my kitchen cabinets.
It's so cool to see plants grow. It's like magic! It really makes me appreciate God more.
Update: Definitely plant these in soil. When I finally went around to cutting one again, it was slime coming out. The water rotted it from the inside. Looked healthy and tall in the surface, but there was too much water, so plant it.
