What makes a great layout? Well, the track plan to start with, then railway infrastructure (stations, signals, sheds, yards, etc), then the scenery (roads, vehicles, buildings, hills, walls, bridges, etc). And modellers spend the vast majority of their time on putting scenery in place, mainly on the little finishing touches like cable troughing and point motors and relay cabinets. So a video that just follows the trains without showing the scenery doesn't reflect the effort that the modeller has put in, I'd suggest.
If you go outdoors to be a train enthusiast then you go to watch trains and enjoy them in the scenery that surrounds them. If you go outdoors for the scenic beauty and natural surroundings then I don’t think you’d want to see any trains, cars or otherwise spoiling that view. If you want to build a model railway layout you build it around the railway being modelled. If you have the ability to transport in hgvs your huge replica scale model then be sure to let the scenery be the main focus, oh wait take a look at Britain’s Biggest Model Railway video and see that it’s mainly about track, lineside and, full scale trains in view as if you were at the lineside watching the trains go by.
I really wanted to go to this, but I had to go to my cousin's birthday party instead. This is the next best thing, great video
