  • This model railway has incredible detail! Copper Wort & Co Ltd - a 00 Gauge exhibition layout.

    This is Copper Wort & Co Ltd, an incredibly detailed 00 gauge exhibition layout that packs a huge amount into a small space. The brilliant octagonal design of this brilliant model railway means that you can never see the whole thing, allowing trains to constantly disappear from site.
    Throw in some fantastic scratch built building and an industrial setting with small steam engines hauling short trains and you've got the makings of an incredible layout. But the attention to detail is where Copper Wort really shines and just goes to show that, even on a smallish layout, there is still plenty of space to show off your modelling skills!
    Copper Wort & Co Ltd was filmed at Alexandra Palace during The London Festival of Railway Modelling 2023.
    Thanks for watching 😃

    I really like this one, the early 20th century feel gives it a really pleasant atmosphere. With the LMS boxcabs running about, I'd guess the layout is set sometime in the 1920s or so. Love your videos :)

      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Рік тому +3

      Yes I'd imagine sometime in the 20s too given the rolling stock. Though with an industrial layout like this I imagine it wouldn't be hard to create similar scenes for various different decades too. Thanks for watching 😃

    It's certainly one of the best detailed layout I've seen, you can tell a lot of time and work has gone into this layout and if your a fan of shunting like we are, it's a dream 😀

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Рік тому

      Yes it’s great and others have mentioned how clean it is too. I think it’s down to artistic license personally, the same way the backscene isn’t super realistic but gives an impression. After all if I’d spent thousands of hours hand making all those buildings I wouldn’t be keen on covering them in soot either 😅 thanks for watching 👍

    Gosh, That Model Railway Guy, you really hit the nail on the head with this one. What a superb industrial layout. Even the gloomy, gray backdrops are richly appropriate as opposed to detailed paintings of buildings. If I can find a trackplan, I'll definitely give this a try. What a great home for those Pecketts, Manning Wardles and so on. Even Austerities. Many thanks for posting.

      @@ThatModelRailwayGuy Well, TMRG, it took some doing, but I actually did find a trackplan for this outstanding layout, as well as many photos and articles on it. April 2020, Railway Modeller was the source of the plan. It's a perfect hexagon, with one segment for storage. Thanks for sharing your video of it!

    It's a great layout, but having seen it several times, I still can't make up my mind on its time preiod! Locos are after 1920's, Goods wagons are pre WW1, but the people around the layout are Victorian, plus I live near Burton the buildings are far too clean to me. Its one of them layouts which first Great, but when you see it often you end up thinking its wrong not hitting the right spots! sorry to the builders and operators but it very much missing something, wheather it's grime period operation, or the buildings look right but don't fit in as well as they should plus the locos seam to do the same loops around the track, It's now become a very much walk past for myself and friends at shows

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Рік тому

      It all comes down to personal preference in the end. I've seen certain layouts at exhibitions that everyone raves about yet I don't feel are particularly inspiring myself.
      I believe originally the layout was supposed to be Edwardian but I imagine that's flexible for exhibitions to enable more variety and similarly I think the continuous running is to keep the public entertained too. As I mentioned in reply to other comments I get the feeling that the layout should be looked at as an artistic impression of the railway rather than a realistic/accurate scale model. Thanks for watching 😃
