I find it funny how some guys are upset about this joke. As a man myself, I see this as a woman's variation of male comedians joking about how much of a pain they find women to be. Both are funny and offer the perspective of the other sex in dating. I get if it's not your cup of tea, but if you find the male equivalent funny, then it's likely something akin to insecurity. It was so fun seeing her live, but her comedy stemming from her traumatic childhood, and an extremely toxic borderline personality disorder kinda gets tiring after 40 mins. We get it, you have an awful view on relationships given how badly your teenage years were.
BDP and bipolar are not the same thing. Borderline personality disorder is a cluster disorder on the “borderline” of bipolar and narcissism. It’s poorly named IMO but that’s what they came up with at the time and haven’t changed it. Anyway, so BPD is going to have bipolar aspects to it but bipolar isn’t going to have BPD aspects. One is a significantly bigger issue than the other. It is quite uncommon for someone with BPD to even get a diagnosis bc of their “black and white/all good or all bad” way they see the world. If there is even a little bit “bad” in them (in this case having a mental illness), then all of them is bad. That’s how they see it, not reality of course. Anyway, obviously this often keeps them from getting a diagnosis. So those who do have a diagnosis are actually pretty strong people. Also because of the above thinking, pretty unlikely they’d be able to make comedic material about their mental illness as Taylor has. Beyond that, pretty shit take to blame her mental health, which she has so bravely owned, as the reason for not liking her comedy special.
