MP3 was so good, it can almost be considered a hidden gem as it never got the recognition it deserved. An absolutely beautiful looking game, brilliant gun play, so worth playing. It's a pity it was never remastered for the PS4 / XB1.
MP3........huh....hehehe.

God damn it, that song still rings in my head
Damn you finally got hearted

I wish rockstar kept the aiming and shooting from Max Payne 3 into other Rockstar games. The shooting mechanics was so good in Max Payne 3
GTA V's shooting is based alot of the max payne 3 shooting
@@707beats6 no not the same its worst then max pain doesnt feel cool
@@nat3dgr34t i didn't say it is exactly how it is in max payne.
I think GTA V combat is close to Max Payne 3
@@soulbrother5435 it's close but it lacks strafe, just like all gta and rockstar games. Their mechanics are outdated. Max payne 3 mechanics still hold up in 2020.
"It's all just giant corrupt confusing puzzle"
Pretty much sums up brazil's real problems
That's what socialism brings with it.
@@Gui.Vieira_ I'm pretty sure all trouble Brazil are caused by right wing, same with Venezuela people just blame socialism, weird I thought red scare was over.
@@Jak239JC The socialist venezuelan regime is really corrupt if you dont live in south america dont talk about our problems, socialism has ruined and brought corruption to a lot of countries, the odebretch corruption scandal started in the socialist government of lula da silva in brazil, and extended to Venezuela, ecuador, Bolivia and argentina all of them where and some still are socialist, that thing you said about the right wing is false, troubles have been caused by the left wing.
@@Jak239JC are you fucking kidding me? You gotta be really stupid to say something like that! If you lived here in Brazil you wouldn't be saying such stupidity.
@@Jak239JC you're right, as a left wing Brazilian i can affirm that
Max Payne 3 is my favorite 3rd person shooter of all time. I think it's insanely underrated and the multiplayer is severely over looked
The game was awesome, my only problem with it is that I got stuck on a boss fight without much ammo, and because of the save system, I literally couldn't go back to a previous checkpoin, or do anything to solve the problem, other than restarting the whole game, and considering I was probably 90% of the way through, that wasn't happening.
I will say that not being able to play the single player did mean that I gave the multiplayer a chance, and I enjoyed it so much that I even took a break from playing Modern Warfare 3 PvP
Loved this and the original Gears of War trilogy as a kid. Max Payne made me feel like a 40 year old man in a Tarantino movie
A timeless masterpiece, with a world-class performance by the exceptional James McCaffrey. HEALTH also outdid themselves, with their dark and intense atmospheric soundtracks!
Is it just me or does Max look modeled after Ben Affleck
@@robogreek3157 I see what you mean but the developers based Max's looks on McCaffery
I absolutely love this game...
Never understood the hate it got..
Yes its different than the first two games but thats a good thing.. Otherwise people would've complained its just "another rehash of the original" ...
The game has some amazing gunplay, a incredibly dark story and that soundtrack 😍
Godlike.
Recht_voor_zijn_raap 100000% agreed. It’s a goddamn masterpiece
If you only can skip the videos because i keep playing the game over and over again xD
Not to mention the amazing gunplay paved the way for the improved gunplay of GTA V and RDR2.
I hated it initially for the same reasons everyone else hated it, dropped it 3 or 4 missions in.
Then just a few years ago I felt an urge to play a third person shooter and decided to give it another chance, resetting my expectations and deciding to treat MP3 like its own thing.
O BOY. I beat it twice. In a row. It's hard to put my finger on why, but I'd say it's all about whether or not you want to compare it to previous games. But DAM did Rockstar nail it. The tone, the cinematic feel, the gunplay, the movement, the challenge - everything. Absolutely top notch.
@@C0T0HA That's Rockstar for ya.
If you haven't played it on PC with a mouse and keyboard, Max Payne 3 is seriously one of the best gameplay experiences I've ever had. especially with 120+ HZ. Trust me. Give it a try. I beat it on the hardest difficulty and it's one of the funnest games I've ever played, and keep coming back to.
I'm playing it now on pc long after i last played it PS3, it feels like a completely different game
On PC it makes you feel like an absolute menace. I'm playing with mods purely for infinite bullet time, weather, guns and stuff and my God it is fun.
@@SimonHill94 I loved it so much on PC, I bought it again on PS3. The analog stick just doesn't do this game justice when aiming. Especially at what? 30 fps? They try to make up for it with that soft aim lock, or hard aim lock, but it really dampens the fun factor. On the harder difficulties, you really start to get into game mechanics you never would've used otherwise, like blind firing at people to stun them for a second, so you can safely jump, or move to a better position to flank the enemy, or so you yourself aren't flanked. It may be an action game, but there's some intense strategy involved. I know the game did well enough, but I still consider this one of the most underrated video games out there. My only complaint is the long load times, while the story plays. Would love it if they added subtitles, so you as a player could understand what everyone is saying in other languages. Would've been an amazing unlock for beating the game on one of the harder difficulties.
@@Buhfrog probably didn't even manage 30 FPS to be honest. The load times is another reason why it's best played on PC, especially if you got yourself an SSD. That was mine and a lot of other people's main problem with the MP3, how much the game took control away from you as it loaded the next area. I'm in the same boat though. It's Rockstar's best non open world game and really under appreciated
@@Buhfrog I beat the game on ps3 on the hardest difficulty when I was younger. I don't think lock on was necessary even in multiplayer. It's more difficult but that makes it more fun sometimes in my opinion.
Still been meaning to play Max Payne 3 tbh
Has to be one of the best games of 2012
just do it
MP3 and Vanquish are the best tps games of all time
It’s incredible.
neutral good agreed. Vanquish is still slept on and MP3 is tragically underrated. So many jaw dropping moments in both
Its fucking awesome play it yo I'm on my 4th run which I just bought on PC cause xbox one didn't have the backwards compatibility for it :P
Max Payne 3 wrapped up really nicely. I feel happy with how this amazing trilogy ended. I don't think we even need a 4th one. If we do then hell yeah more max Payne!
This game is a underrated gem and one of the best games of the 7th Gen in its last years. The multiplayer is golden. Definitely deserve a remaster, sequel or back compat on Xbox.
This is the only game I've gone back and beat the story 6 times.
the online was soooooooooooooooo good
@@tylercouture216 I feel like because GTA 4 and Max Payne had Multiplayer, they dont release remasters for them.. LA Noire came out after GTA 4 slightly before MP and it got a remaster. Maybe they dont want to take away Online Playerbase from RDO and GTAO... its sad.
Same dude. I think I’m at 5 and I’m about to pull out the ol’ 360 and re-play it. Cannot believe it’s not backwards compatible on the X.
@@wymanrtaylor literally no other game comes close to get that itch right now and I’m on series x and still can’t play this game.
I have not played a more refined 3rd person shooter since Max Payne 3. One of my favorite games of all time. Everything was so snappy and smooth. It is not easy to get 3rd person controls feel smooth like FPS, but boy did they do a great job.
He'll yeah. Been excited for your video. Always a banger
I remember in 2012 whenever ro rockstar posted about max payne 3. everyone in the comments were asking about gta 5. Now its happening with gta 6, and appropriately so, because it's been 7 YEARS!!
As a Brazilian who lives in São Paulo, I don't think Max Payne 3 gets the city right. It sure feels like Rio instead of SP. Nonetheless, the game's still a masterpiece.
Tell us how it’s different
One of my personal favourite games of all time, among my top five games when I played on the PS3, great gunplay mechanics, story and soundtrack and a nod to Max Payne’s voice acting by James McCaffrey. A gem of a game.

@@josesosa3337 Of course, its my favorite game!
max payne is one of the only franchise where i will gladly replay any game in the series. my favorite is max payne 2 but 3 was amazing for me and i dont get people's hate
Big facts
well...people have been playing too much bullshit royale games, so can't really expect anything from retards....
I used to straight bend folks over on the multiplayer
Bullect time and jump...... nothing wrong with that... I had quantum break xbox edition and instill with every xbox i had and I still not play them as much as Max Payne...
At the time max Payne 3 came out people wanted games to be long as hell and open world, so I think that explains it's backlash. A game like this today by rockstar would do pretty well I think as long as it wasn't hyped too much and if people knew that gta6 was in full on development.
The Cut scenes can be a little annoying personally .
The shooting mechanics and presentation were just amazing !
One of the most satisfying games to just shoot someone in the head .
Would be a hella good game if you could skip cutsceens
Cut scene was awesome bcz of narration
the worst part of the game is whenever cutscenes end he always hold the gun and never the rifle
darknessviking makes sense tho. That way they didn’t have to shoot every scene with him twice
Don't forget these "last chance" moments, where the whole screen goes white and you try to shoot a badguy from 15 feet away with a WHITE CROSSHAIR. There are some very idiotic things in this pretty good game.
Blister Monde personally never had a problem with that... the cross hair turns red when you’re aiming at the right guy. I think they did that mechanic incredibly well considering it had never been done before
@@TheCaWaLa Can you not? This is like going "Well you guys with your GTX MX110s are complaining about bad performance with the new update, I'm having no issues with my RTX 2000 series GPU and latest generation i9 processor". Just because you didn't suffer from it doesn't mean it's not an issue - the fact that others did, though, does mean it is an issue.
AlphaGarg I guess I just thought of it as a glitch in an old game 😆
There were parts if this game that felt like I was playing a badass chapter in the "Die Hard" series.
Great game.
Yup..I taught the same thing, when max saved his head..I taught it was a reference to Bruce Willis like die hard
For anyone that is looking for something like Max Payne 3 i recomend watching Elite Squad 1 and 2, City of God and Carandiru
Elite squad 1 is awesome i love the part where they train to become a "caraibela"
@@greciasoleble a caraibela ?
Carandiru ... never heard of that one but thanks for the recommendation. The others are amazing
All that you mentioned are great. Add to that Onibus 174. I love Brazilian action films.
i feel like the game was also influenced by Man on Fire.
This is one of my favorite games. I know it's not the best Max Payne game but I played every other year and I always have fun with it so is my favorite games.
Nah man, if people would just cut the crap, MP3 is EASILY the best MP
@@gr8st2323 exactly dude, this is the best max Payne game indeed...even I don't understand what's wrong with idiots...maybe playing too much minecraft has reduced their brain cells.....
What a coincidence, I just finished my fifth playthrough of Max Payne 3 a few days ago. Not a single game in 7 came remotely close to the excellent third-person gunplay and level of detail (considering the age of the game) of Max Payne 3.
I bought the game in 2013, one year after release and was immediately surprised of how precise and fluid the gunplay felt. Rockstar Games did an excellent job with animation blending, movability and responsiveness. Like stated above I never played a game that feels as good!
I really enjoy watching your videos, keep up the great work! Greetings from Germany :)
You should do Red Dead 2 or Witcher 2. Love the vids, keep up the good work!
He totally should do Red Dead 2
Yeah of course sure, rdr2 is only game in the universe.
Witcher 2 would make me moist
@@IskenderCaglarM41B441 both of you need to chill tf out

Max Payne 3 is the absolute best in the series and its gorgeous and soundtrack by Health is even more amazing.
The second best.
Health did an amazing job with the game
But now it can't get backwards compat because the band lineup changed an there's licensing issues:((
quite a shame that you didnt mention the amazing soundtrack by HEALTH but still is a pretty good review
I have Max Payne 3 for XBOX 360 and it's one of my favorites because of how fun and challenging it is.
I would still recommend the PC version just to avoid that horrific thumbstick aiming 🤮
Love this game though, very underrated and such an incredible soundtrack
So now that you have done all of the R* games when is Manhunt gonna get the spotlight it deserves? ;)
GizmoRose I dont have pc version but i have the ps3 version
Im a pc gamer but tbh if you play it long enough aiming wont be a single problem for you no more
You ll get pretty good aim and kills just like in pc
But there are 2 downsides from pc
-30 fps
-tbh its still slow sometimes especially when you need to turn nearly 180 degrees for a moment
But except thoose all of your problems will be solved if you play long enough on consoles
@@onurtintas same here iam that person who plays pc games with a controller i dont like how much buttons the keyboard has
PUPPET MASTER Yeah i played first two on pc but 3 ‘s console ports are same as the pc
@@onurtintas what? u are chatting shit? Max Payne 3 on PC is not capped
Take off with your PC master race nonsense ya hoser.
This game was and IS FANTASTIC.
It had great reviews and made plenty of profit.
I still go back to play it to this very day. Amazing game.
PC version isn't superior to consoles?
Dramatically higher resolution textures
HBAO instead of SSAO
Contact Hardening Shadows
Tessellation
Higher rez shadows
Won't even mention about normal PC stuff, higher resolutions, unlocked FPS, 16 AF, MSAA with transparency options.
And that's what I remember now. I think the game might've had higher precision motion blur and higher resolution reflections as well.
So sure, the game looks great on consoles but looks so much better on PC.
Not to mention the game on PC is optimized like mint.
It knows how to best utilize the resources your system has, even on OSs like Vista.
Not surprising when you learn R* Vancouver were formerly Popdog studios, who began on the PC contributing to a little ol" title named Counter-Strike.
@Kayoshie Flametail I don't remember the cutscenes to be also in 30FPS, but you maybe right. I think it has to do with the cutscenes be a bit more "cinematic".
No one cares
Kayoshie Flametail Just a bit disappointing that cutscenes are compressed 720p30 videos, are opposed to real-time like GTA 4/5. Most recently I have been floored with how every cutscenes in Gears 5 was real-time.
MP3 still has a lot of cutscenes that are real time and look so good (maxed out, 4K120 fps), but yeah, transition to cutscenes is just a bit jarring.
This game is the reason why I still have my Xbox 360 I wish they made this backwards compatible
James N I’ve been waiting for god knows how long for Max Payne 3 to be backwards compatible, decided to give up and get it on PC which I’ve been enjoying it a lot. Its unfortunate they never added Max Payne 3 even after they added Red Dead 1 for BC, missed opportunity...
Why haven't they made it BC?
Yeah maybe they thought it wouldn't sell
Max payne is the best shooting series game i have ever played
I'll never forget the airplane level
These videos just have a charm that's unexplainable
I Really like Max Payne 3. I go back through the story every few years because the gunplay feels so good, and because the dialogue and Max’s comments are so well written. The soundtrack is pretty good too!
I wonder if we will ever get a 4th game
Maybe yes and maybe not
Probably not
But i wish, or a least another gory shooter in Brasil like Max Payne 3
Doubtful. As great as this game was it was a bit of a commercial flop.
@@plaguedoctorjamespainshe6009 why brazil there are much cooler setting than a jungle
Max Payne is so underrated. This and Binary Domain were the two best, most overlooked third person shooters of that generation.
It's my personal favorite in the series, too.
i love max payne 3 but the problems with it are the lack of multiplayer content and the fact it takes days to level up
You are so incredibly talented for making reviews! Love your videos man, keep it up ma dude!
Your reviews are very in depth and you cover the games that I'm very nostalgic about from my middle school/high school years.
Great job!
Righteous, Max Payne's my favorite 3rd-person shooter(s).
That's it. Time for your channel to blow up. The quality of your videos is absolutely amazing, compared to many others.
Nice Timing I finished my franchise playthrough earlier this week!
It’s honestly a shame this was not made available for Xbox backwards compatibility.
#BringBackMaxPayne3
Agreed, they added Red Dead 1 so why not Max Payne 3? I suppose there’s license issues holding it back, it’s a bummer they couldn’t make it happen
Yes, with close to 50k subs ColourShedProd. has a following, but the quality of his reviews and the brilliant insights he offers truly deserve a wider audience. There's been a few reviews I've watched featuring games I initially thought were bleh; after CSP's review however I wanted to play it. The Max Payne series is one of the few Rockstar game franchises I haven't played and the series of reviews CSP's done on the three games had me adding it to the backlog. Great stuff brother, keep doing work!
I recently finished Max Payne 3 on Old School and Free Aim with PS3. One of the best games I have ever played that deserves more recognition
Great review! You never disappoint
Thanks for this review, finally someone who shares my exact thoughts.
The soundtrack! You didn't mention the soundtrack! That airport shootout omg
The original max pain opening sequence will always be stuck in my brain.
I was mad young when I played it and it was just wild!
So sad
Yeah, will never forget that. I was 13 back when Max Payne hit shelves. Had to upgrade my on board GPU (8MB VRAM!) for a better one, because it got "destroyed" by this masterpiece.
I am playing max payne ps2 classic on my ps3 and i am 11 enjoying the game

One of my top favorite game of all time.
Love the story, gameplay and overall amazing game
I loved Max Payne 3, wish they'd make a new one that played like this
Only thing I didn't like about MP3 is how much it tries to pretend MP2 was a mistake or didn't happen.
It's like R* thought the reason MP2 bombed was because of the love story... when in fact it was the low marketing.
With MP3, the marketing was there, but they released it too close to GTA V and in between the 1st trailer in 2011 and the early screenshots months after MP3 released.
After that, MP3 was DOA. All of R*'s social media promoting MP3 was flooded with people demanding GTA V info and media, and reacting negatively to MP3 promotion.
What R* should've done was either release MP3 in Q2 of 2011, or push GTA V's trailer by one year to November 2012.
Both sequels suffer from being great titles destroyed by oversights and bad management. As an MP fan, it killed me to see both MP2 and 3 in the bargain bins and pretty much used as coasters.
Anyway, as a game, it definitely plays different than the previous games, exchanging the "Hard-Boiled/Matrix" gun-fu for more "realistic" cover shooting mechanics and limiting arsenals.
If you can overlook the mistreatment of MP2 in 3 and can accept the changed mechanics and floatier shooting, you've got a GOTY contender in MP3.
My favorite is still 2 though.
I think that the cover mechanics were a pretty bad decision for the game. I've completed it so many times , at the hardest difficulty and I noticed that the best and the most fun tactic was run and gun dodging bullets Matrix style just like in the old games, for some reason they don't make it obvious and it just seems like a cover shooter on the surface.
@@RonaattoriFIN I generally agree with you that going guns blazing is more fun and can even be more satisfying, but the movement on Euphoria games is terrible for it. MP1 and 2 had a more arcadey movement that allowed for better freeflow and control, whereas MP3 has a more "realistic" movement more often than not has me whiffing my first shot because Max decided to take an extra step or some other Euphoria engine related issue.
@@xlixity yeah thats a big problem with the game, the engines make the shooting great but the movement is just bad. Plus the shotguns in this one are absolute shite in every single way compared to the old games.
@@RonaattoriFIN Honestly for me the only two useful shotguns in the first 2 games was the pump shotgun in the first and the auto shotgun in the second, I found the pump to be useless in the second game even on the hardest difficulty.
I love this game!!
Great review as always🍻
Just found this channel and I love it!
New Jersey levels are the best levels. Mob guys say the funniest shit when they shoot at you.
You should also check out Rabbit Respawn's Max Payne 3 videos.
Man he makes this game look good.
I remember being in elementary school reading about the third Max Payne in the Xbox magazine. I think the article stated 'imagine Max Payne going through New York again but has age a little'. At the time I thought no way. The graphics back than were getting better so I thought it'd be similar to the first game's. When it came out I was more in my teen year's and was hyped. The presentation was amazing but to me personally I did want it to take place in New York. To me it seemed like a more dark and dirty place to be in and fits with the story. Even take place somewhere else in the states. But I did enjoy a bit of Brazil. Sorry to say this but Sam Lake is Max Payne. The actual voice actor was great and the guy that did Max for Max Payne 2 was good.
But I don't think we'll ever see another Max Payne because that's Rockstar for you. Just keep releasing the same game for 3 generations now. It's getting old.
You should have way more subs. Best reviews on YT
What a coincidence, I’m playing the game right now for the first time and I’ve been having a blast. I’m at the last level(the airport), I’m enjoying every second of it. Awesome review btw

Max Payne 3 is the best multiplayer ever it should be remastered Rockstar please do it
Even with it bullet time was good
This is one of my favorite shooters of all time. So underrated it’s criminal.
All though (this is a fact) some enemies(heavily armored f^>ks as I call them) have more than 100 health, so it takes about 3-4 "standings' to finish them. You can use openiv to verify everything I said.
I hope it becomes Backwards compatible on xbox one one day, that'd be a real surprise mechanic.
I'm foaming at the mouth until you finish the MGS series. Great video none the less
I still gotta finish MGSV and MGR :D
I would like so much that rockstar makes us a remaster.
Max Payne 3 and SPEC OPS are part of the biggest underestimated games of the old generation.
Max Payne was one of my favourite franchises growing up and although i played it much later i was not disappointed with Max Payne 3, i love how Rockstar made it so detailed with the animation and destructible environments, it wasn't open world so they put the effort into smaller details. The level of detail, believability and fluidity of the animation is still unparalleled imo and although there are gorier games this game is one of the most brutally violent games ever, really makes you uncomfortable but in a good way.
Also I wish there were more action games that told grounded authentic stories set in real places (yes the bodycount needs to be ridiculous but that's games for you), the only game i've played recently that comes close with mature storytelling is Yakuza. Everything is sci-fi fantasy or bonkers like GTA, Far Cry and Just Cause. Back in the PS2/Xbox era you had Max Payne, Rainbow Six 3, the massively underrated Conflict: Global Terror and numerous others. Call of Duty is the only action adventure game that does real world stuff and even that is mostly World War 3 and often Sci-fi.
I have this game on both PS3 and 360 and I did indeed enjoy it! Hell, even Ben Yahtzee Croshaw liked this game and I tend to pay attention to games he likes! I mean, Spec_Ops: The Line was also a good game so... And as for Dark Souls!
I loved the first two...L-O-V-E
Liked this #3, but cutscenes kept mit from love. There was a cutscene every time you open a door.
It was maddening
Getting hit right now!
I went into this when it came out as a devoted Max Payne fan. It was a dream from beginning to end that I didn't want to leave. I feel it's been long enough for a remake of the 1st game.
Woulda been notification gang but i was ranting on with the homie on texts 😂😂
The thing with this game is, it felt like every other game at the time
They remastered LA Noire, but how about they remaster this?
This doesn't nee a remaster.
Just play it on any potato PC nowadays in 4k and 60FPS with better graphic settings. There is your remaster. PS4 version wouldn't look any better than that.
I agree. We NEED and have NEEDED a remaster of this!

Brooo that intro music 😫
It's a crime that rockstar didn't remaster this game for new generations. At least it's optimized enough to play even on weak PC I played it smooth even with 2 core CPU and 1GB gpu
I have loved this game for years and think it deserves more recognition to be honest. I actually have found this game far superior to red dead 2 and GTA 5 and being the last rockstar title that I considered to be truly great.
Such an unappreciated game... 23:08 The fact that Max Payne 3 *combined* with both Red Deads don't amount to even the half of Grand Theft Overrated V triggers me.
Tommy Vercetti I actually bought max Payne 3 as my first max Payne and I didn’t know anything about max Payne previously before the movies I mean of course I knew the 2 games but never played them so when I saw the trailer for Max Payne 3 I was so excited and I bought it and I am not disappointed and I’d go as far to say it’s better than 1 and 2 story wise
