    I am currently reading:
Elisa Gabbert - The Unreality of Memory (nonfiction, paperback)
Zeyn Joukhadar - The Thirty Names of Night (fiction, paperback)
Ling Ma - Bliss Montage (fiction, audiobook)
and have been slowly working my way through 2 poetry collections (Rilke in German and Rumi in English) and a tarot workbook (The Tarot Spreads Yearbook by Chelsey Pippin Mizzi).
So between 3 and 6 depending on how you count.

This video was quite enjoyable! I'd love to see a video from yours about research & writing essays, it's something I struggle with and knowing you I know you have much to say about this, much love! ❤

Omg my reading habits are just like yours! I start reading a book and want to read another one, when I realize I'm reading like 5 books at once 😅
But still, you definitely read a lot more than I do, because of your PhD in humanities.
I came out of my personal reading limbo with "Flowers to Algernon", 10/10! :)

Thanks, Morgan! I'm in much worse shape... I have about 10 books that I've started and another 10 that I'm currently using. On top of that, I have my textbooks for college. I'm starting to get things organized. As always, thanks for the inspiration. I don't know why, but after watching your videos, I always feel motivated to take action :)

I used to not be able to read more than one book. Just completely confused me, as everything got jumbled. Well, studying changed that, with novels and short stories to read whilst ploughing through textbooks. Now, preparing for my PhD, it's a jumble of fiction, textbook, research papers, editing on my own writing (that also feels like reading), beta-ing for friends … the numbers fluctuate all the time, but yep - the times of "just one" have long gone.

I definitely see the merits of reading multiple books at a time. I only read non-fiction, but in about 15 different subjects that I'm interested in. When I finish one, I'll start another in that subject. That old chestnut, "Neurons that fire together, wire together" - I think that helps the learning process. I just like learning things & how to be a better human.

Reading five books simultaneously sounded a lot at first, but then looking at my own reading habits my view changed. I reead at least two books parallel myself, one for fun and one for research / work. On the work side, that number can increase rapidly, depending on the amount of reference I need. My current reeds are: "The technological development of the bow and crossbow in the later middle ages" by Stuart Gorman. Thats a Ph.D Thesis I reed for research.
For fun it is "Der Papiermagier". Thats a german translation of a novel fromCharlie N. Holmberg
Best wishes from Germany and keep having fun reading

    I've realized I'm a chaotic reader
"Where do you keep the book you're reading?" aNyWheRe
"When do you read?" whenever i have free time, or not exactly free, sometimes I read even if I'm in class/working 😅😅😅

I read all 9 of The Expanse series --- what a ride. When you think all the shit has happened that could happen, more shit happens. So good.

Great video. Though I love pretty much all your videos. I haven't really been reading recently I have been in a slump and now I am busy working on an action research project. I hope you get out a new Ph.D. progress video soon. 1 because I love those and 2. because that would mean you are making progress. Thanks for the video.

hi morgan (reader ) do you do anything specifically so that you can remember more? lately ive been thinking about everything i learn as something that has a lot more value if i manage to fit it into the correct place in my current theory of understanding that thing. so I try to recall that theory and find where it fits. is it time to build a mind palace for the most important theories? cya

Not a mind palace (although that might help), but a zettelkasten!! My most viewed video on this channel is about how I take notes for my PhD, but it's not just good for academic texts, it's good for fiction, too! Every good fiction book I read, I'll save quotes on it and make notes about it in my zettelaksten. And working in my zettelkasten DEFINITELY helps me remember more because it's structured as a series of connections between ideas!

Hi, I'm bringing this up not as a critique but in hopes of letting you (and other fans of the Three Body Problem series) the controversy surrounding the author. He has made some comment about Muslim Uighurs and the reeducation camps in China. This youtuber deeps a little more on the topic and cites the source of that interview: ua-cam.com/video/5UQZDvEeZr0/v-deo.htmlsi=JSYNaMzRAbu4iG_k
I have mixed feelings about the novel and the characters, but my decision to stop reading the series wasn't because of the story per se, but the author and his views. Of course is everyone's personal decision to continue or not supporting the author and his works; I do believe everyone should be informed so they can make that decision.

    KSR, sorry. ()()()()()()
And yes, 4, 5 or 6 and about equal F and NF... Also, about half are being read with others, so discussions are always ongoing. Including what to read next and what read might take a different stance than the current one.
And yes... once the story needs to resolve, it can just dominate. And a while back, Friday night brief read might stop because I wanted breakfast. So the odd all-nighter, especially if no 'work' the following day.
Current solo reads are; "Who We Are and How We Got Here" - by David Reich and "The Warriors of Dawn" by M. A. Foster.
