      @TacDyne 4 роки тому +106

      It actually isn't for a spare flint. It's the fill hole. Newer ones don't have it "to help prevent over filling" due to years of people squeezing bottles until the fluid ran out over the sides. Last two Zippos I bought were terribly cheap quality. I used a leather punch and put the holes in them, but went back to an older Zippo due to horrendous evaporation rates in the newer ones from the crimping they added.

    Definitely not a Soviet lighter. Given that it’s a Zippo knock off, the warning information and the cccp styling I would say it’s a Chinese knock off from around early 00’s to current. It might have actually only been a year or so old and just buried in sand the whole time.
    That said - yeah still cane up looking pretty good. Tho I would have just polished the logos and left it at that. Maybe heated them to give them a hue

    Honestly not a bad fake, but I don't think Zippo's were ever made from steel, so the rust kinda gives it away.

    • @robertmills2375
      @robertmills2375 4 роки тому

      Zippo lighters were made of brass and were nickel plated. Good catch. Took me a minute but it finely dawned on me. Stopped smoking when I got home. Must have purchased half a dozen lighters and had them personalized, promptly lost every one of them. The ground must’ve been litered with Zappos.

    The paint job could’ve benefitted from a finer tip, and the colors are too bright for my tastes. Also the metal should be a bit more smoother in my honest opinion. Still great nonetheless, least the end product is of it working
