I have been plowing with xjs for years. They do great! Just have to plow smart and you won't tear stuff up.
Would love to see a “how to” video on how to mount up a plow on a XJ! Been thinking of adding a plow to mine but not much Info on them.
same
Correct, not much info about XJ's and not many plow mounts. I know Meyer made a mount for their ST (6.5' or 7' blade), fairly heavy plow. Never knew there was a Western mount available. I fabbed a Western Suburbanite, and am currently fabbing a 6'8" fisher MM1 for it.
Cool truck. I had an '84 brand new. Only new vehicle I ever owned. I plowed with an '86 Full Size Bronco though, which was fairly maneuverable, but nothing like an XJ. Makes me want to get one. I am plowing with an '07 Expedition currently. Slight beast for the smaller jobs.
I don't like traveling between plow jobs with the blade angled to the left like you do in the video here. If someone forces you to the right the blade can get caught up in the snow bank on the right and angled like that it just sucks you off the road.
thanks guys I remember why we moved south. We had 1 inch so far this winter. Don't miss that crap at all
One of these days we will escape jersey and hopefully have no use for a plow jeep anymore
These Jeeps are phenomenal plow rigs if set up right. Have the right axles, locker rear, limited slip up front and hood tires you can push through anything.
Plus just a sweet looking plow set up with these older Jeep XJ's 😎
Yup, Jeep XJ works great for driveways. Recently got a used plow for my F-150 as a backup. Pickup is far less maneuverable. My XJ has a set of snow tires (makes huge difference), a few hundred pounds in the back, and OME 2" lift.
Inside adjust is nice
My father had a 78 CJ5 with a Western plow.
Your jeep has that same high pitch whistle as mine
This is so cool. XJ❤
If you are gonna be serious about plowing snow you have to get a handicap ramp for the rear to put a walk behind snowthrower on and get an extra set of wheels with mounted studded snow tires on them
Plus you need to put a rubber flap at a 90 degree angle on the top of the plow or it will overheat driving it down the road and you have to plow with your wipers on all the time
@joseph tuleya we sold the jeep a couple of months ago but we did have ramp on the back with a nice blower last winter
I had a handy cap ramp on the rear with a small 2stage snowthrower and a bag of salt to compensate for the weight of the plow .if you get too heavy of a plow you are gonna have to modify your suspension
I bought my 99 xj 4.0 5spd 13 years ago….for 3grand with 100k on it……..that damn thing would be worth 6k now….unfortunately it got totaled 3 years ago…somethings just get to pricy when popularity rises….90s explores would be a good plow rig and people are practically giving them away…
Need to adjust that plow for the height of the jeep and you'll be way happier.. I noticed it in the very beginning ofthe video and multiple times digging to hard throughout
Agreed but we sold it this fall so sadly we dont have it anymore
Definitely looking for a plow for next winter. What brand should look for? Model?
This plow is a western unimount
Meyer made a mount , I'm installing a Meyer two meter on mine you might need to fab a little bit depending on what mount is available. Meyer has a couple different types available and they're getting pretty hard to find.
Snow bear snowplow
where can i buy a plow setup for my xj Jeep any recommendations?
Best place is to find it used since they dont make them anymore
Problem here is the transmission won't last very long.
Its lasted a good 5 seasons for us so far! When we got it, it had 120000 on it and wasnt plowed with now its got 16000 and most of those miles were with a plow on the front or plowing
With no frame, what did you bolt it to?
The unibody
yasssssssssssss
Wish I could find one as clean as that for 500 around here, they are all rust buckets here lol
