Incredible family cooking recipe. I started feel what Mark experienced in the video. He brought in his baby son, the cute puppy and family farmland. That all made me feel like I was there with Mark and his family. Thanks Mark for sharing.
I'm not sure if you'll ever read this, but I stumbled across your videos by chance. Initially, I thought your cheerfulness and demeanor was forced and painfully corny. But as I've watched more and more of your videos, your insatiable love for food and your positive attitude is infectious. Mark Wiens, you've truly won me over and I wish you all the best in this new year!
Love the surreal 4k quality! It is dreary, damp and cold here in the Northeast US, so it's really refreshing seeing all those vibrant tropical hues. Enjoyed watching Ying's relatives prepare and cook everything. The quail dish looked mouth wateringly delicious! Thai people really know good food!
People who are complaining about the rats are just so ignorant. He did say FIELD RATS, not sewers rats or urban rats. Field rats don't have the parasites and diseases that urban rats have.
Andrew Zimmeran tried field rats when he visited Thailand and they lived on a diet purely of rice and water. To be honest the way he cooked them they looked delicious lol.
I'm so glad to view the personal side of you and for you to share with us a little part of Ying's Family....now, how about you sharing your side of the family...love to see baby Micha, can't wait to see all three of you traveling and sharing with us many more food videos...blessings to all.
You have a beautiful life mark..been watching your videos for sometime now..and its an amazing journey every time..the food, the culture and everything, its all awesome..keep it up Man.
I absolutely LOVED everything about this video. Please make more videos of your family interaction - especially with Micah. He's adorable. I would love to meet your immediate family as well.
Finally! A video with Micah in it! :) He's so lovable! I missed these Thailand videos. I hope you go back to uploading shorter videos every once in a while. :)
hi mark... I only started watching your videos last year I live in uk but I'm from Africa... in one of your video you said you have been to zanzibar.. That's the part of Africa iam from... I can't find the video.. by the love your videos.. thanks
nostalgia for thailand - best food & travel videos - = your love of food & communication skills are the best - want to, learn to cook this food - thx so much - i have been watching all your clips since 3 days - so enjoyable & informative - all the best --- (i was a teacher in Chachoengsao in the 70's ) - you are so blessed!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark, my mother binge watches ur videos everyday, and even watches them while Facetiming me lol! All she talks about now is Thai cooking and so she has been actively trying to recreate Thai recipes. Our family movie nights have turned into a marathon of just watching your videos haha. Much love to your family!
Awesome video Mark, as always! Great to see Micah again, he is getting so big!! I love your videos and constantly tell people to subscribe and support your efforts. Thanks for showing us all of the amazing foods and spices of your world, your channel is one of my absolute favorites.
Mark Wiens sir ive been watching your travels for a while now , your a good lad, try goinng halal for a month! it will be an mindblowing experience!!!! iam born in Asia brought up in Europe, and also make the greatest infusion chutney !! we gota link up.
Mark and Ying, this is exactly the type of video that we had hoped you would find time to make! We ( me, husband and eight kiddos) love to watch! We live in Georgia USA and have very similar growing conditions to Thailand. We love to see how your family uses the ingredients that we also have and grow here. I am amazed by how similar some of my family's very old recipes are to Ying's family recipes. My father was raised in south GA as the son of sharecroppers. My Granny cooked many of the same style dishes to what I see on your channel. We are all so pleased about Micah and we praise the Lord for his safe arrival into your family. May He continue to bless and prosper your efforts.
I began to salivate watching the cousin cook the quail! Fantastic video! I felt like I was hanging out with you guys. The country side looks beautiful-reminds me a bit of my southern upbringing. More exploring the countryside, please.
We enjoyed the around the world trip but its was so great to see you back in your element in Thailand. You bring such a unique educational element to your videos about Thai food and Thai culture. Plus, even though the 4K brings new clarity to your images, those awesome shots would be excellent at 1080p or even 720p.
Hi baby Micah! You are such a blessing to your parents and family. I am so excited to more videos and adventures in the future that you will post. God bless!!!
Very peaceful and calm in that rural setting - good for Micah to get out in the countryside. What a great family environment you guys have! Love the videos Mark - keep them coming!
Wow nice video Mark, really brought back some memories. My wife's brother has a small jackfruit farm about 30 miles outside Saigon in Vietnam. I hope you love and enjoy your family for a very long time.
Mark, you are the best UA-camr out there. My children love you so much. Only thing is, you hardly show eating vegetarian food. The world is moving towards vegetarian slowly...
I love this, shows the authenticity of Thailand and it really makes me miss where I grew up, tough living in the UK and growing up in rural Thailand as I miss the food and everything so much!
Mark! Thanks for the 4k video. Gosh, looks awesome on my 4k monitor. Beautiful. 4x the detail. Amazing. Loved this style of video and thanks for sharing your Family with us. I love watching you and Food Ranger.
Being a country girl we do have this type of life in America. My Grandparents lived deep in the country in Alabama. They raised their own produce, hunted, and lived off the land. This type of life is all over the planet.
Exactly i partly grew up in South Carolina and country living is the way of life. The hunting, fishing, gardening, quiet simple life style. We ate raccoon, squirrel, bear, turtles, gator, etc..etc.
Mark Weins. Loves Thai food so much, he married a Thai girl, just so he could visit her family and eat truly authentic Thai food. LOL J/K Keep up the great videos!
Yes I cringed, but not because the knife was close to her fingers, but because she reduced those potentially delicious looking quail to anonymous mounds of random bone flecked protein. Not really honoring the ingredients at all in my opinion, might just as well have been a pile of nondescript gristly ground hamburger. Just my opinion

sure. But only for the owner of this channel :D. Besides you won't be living in hotels. Rather, in my place ( when you are in the capital ). For the rest of the places, hotel doesn't cost much when you are with local people. However, seeing a english speaking person, they will definitely hike up the prices :D
interesting u commented why u were eating directly from the serving bowl. even though the family told u to go for it, and later u used ur spoon rather than a separate serving spoon. it looked bad especially if u will be sharing that with elders... it's kinda like saying "I ate the way that was most convenient for me now that I am full whoever wants to eat what I couldn't finish can have it, by the way I'm sorry if some of the residues from my spoon got mixed into the dish". it would have looked a lot less awkward if you had tasted it while it was still in the wok. I bet if u were a young Thai kid they would have scolded at u. it shows they have a lot of care and respect for u.
Nothing like eating with family, I know Grandma and Aunties are enjoying baby Micah. It is overcast and cold here (WV USA), I am so glad to see the sun and green growing things!

I love how you've immersed yourself into the Thai culture and way of life. Your relationship with your in laws is absolutely envious and admirable.
mark is a joy to watch, so full of life and genuinely a great person.

Love to see family videos like this one, Mark! You should do some more!
you are one of these vloggers that are actually happy with what you do and are actually interesting
every time Mark gets to eat something new or delicious, it feels like Christmas Day for him 😅

Wonderful to see country cooking and little Micah in the family circle!

Thanks Tan, they are delicious!
tan weekiat well said. Bush/field rats are good.
We eat bush rats in Nigeria too. So delicious. They are basically wild game lol
That's true. We eat Field Rats in our country too and they are DELICIOUS!!!!

Thing is, she doesnt know english too well. so sadly i believe that couldnt work.
I'd even like to hear it in Thai with subtitles

Beautiful man!! Take in the natural life.
America couldn't give you this kind natural life!
Make me want to spend time back home in Ghana too!
Being a country girl we do have this type of life in America. My Grandparents lived deep in the country in Alabama. They raised their own produce, hunted, and lived off the land. This type of life is all over the planet.
Ebony Arnold I stand corrected then!!
I'm not from America, it's good to hear people still live like that!
Very cool, I'd love to visit Ghana!

Mark, have your parents met lil Micah yet? Wondering how often you get to see them?
True, the countryside is a place I love, too. Clean air, peaceful plus the organic fruits and vegetables.
I love ur vids but why do you look so excited in all of your vids? Grtzz
awwwwww little micha so cute.Looks like his moma and daddy.beautiful micha...
Did anyone else cringe when Ying's mother was chopping the quail near her fingers?
Yes I cringed, but not because the knife was close to her fingers, but because she reduced those potentially delicious looking quail to anonymous mounds of random bone flecked protein.
