I can see why this won so many awards. This is by far the best short film I've ever seen. It's very inspirational and it made me think. The animation is gorgeous, too. (Also: I felt a twinge of sadness when the skeleton-thing died, and when the narrator said "Don't be sad; it had to end this way" I almost spat out my tea.)
to this day, the "Don't be sad, it had to end this way." line always gets me. it makes me happy, it's genuinely changed my perspective about death and mourning... beautiful movie
Well that was awesome! Seeing Gary Numan’s name in the credits surprised the hell from me but did make sense, and then Larry Fessenden’s name seemingly came up to finish the job! Just wonderful stuff.
This was simply amazing. All of it, from start to finish, is a work of art. Not that I expected anything less, but it truly is a masterpiece. Very, very well done.
Oh my GOTH, I would have never imagined that Voltaire himself would team up with the one and only Gary Numan!!! This is a masterpiece, a really beautiful piece of art!! I love!!!
It's like watching an episode of The Twilight Zone mixed with the stop motion animation of both Phil Tippet and Ray Harryhausen. Excellent and thought provoking at the same time
For a black & white film this was surprisingly very visually pleasing. I also immensely enjoyed the subtle bits of humor. Overall an excellent stop motion film.
Very clever, some interesting and subtle additions in there, the cassette box of replicas, the glint of creation in the eye, the F and U and I think deliberate mistake with the portable reel to reel very well done sir.
Quite a beautiful narration of the questions that plague humanity, and the thoughts that follow as we ponder. Thank you for this timely reminder of why we must lose our loved ones. I love you, V, and thank you for once again bringing me back to life.
The ending is so Twilight Zone-ish. This whole story is very beautiful with a dark touch. I love how it ended with showing that, no matter how different we may think we are, we all end the same way. This really makes me want to write something.
A masterpiece. Short and sweet. No unneeded filler or annoying detail. Lol. This has me convinced all movies can be condensed into less than 30 videos. :D
This was absolutely beautiful. I never had a taste for this sort of thing, but your work indeed changed that, even if just for six amazing minutes. Thanks, and keep up your awesome work!
So excited that I finally got to see this!!! Thanks so much for posting it. I've been wanting to see it since I missed the Dragon*Con screening 2 years ago.
I absolutely love everything you do! You’re such an amazing well rounded artist! You are up there with who I’d like to meet some day! And I don’t have anyone on that list who is of your quality. Much respect. Much respect. 🦑
I have been waiting so long to see this and I can't even begin to express how amazed I am. Your talents continue to evolve and this was just an astounding example of your skills. I loved this so much.
After waiting so long to see this movie, I am not disappointed in the least. My expectations have been surpassed and have once again proven your genius, Voltaire. Bravo. I hope I may e lucky enough to one day meet you and learn from you.
I don't think the FU is just funny. It's a symbol for the roadblocks in life turning an innocent, unsullied soul cynical before the hatred and drive to conquer makes it stronger. Great touch. I had to watch this again.
Dear Voltaire, You're a Guitar Savant, a singer-songwriter, a poet and now a cinematographer... Is there anything you CAN'T do?! xD anyway as always love your work!
You receive my full admiration of your work both as a musician and a director! I am stunned by your imagination and perceptiveness! Thank you for everything. Oh, and BUCK-TICK? That's a total win. :)
F and U keys in the eye sockets. I see what you did there; and makes even more sense knowing what the narrator is saying during it all. This... Is just wonderful. :D
OMG wow! Just wow! You are so talented!!!! I love how diffrent your are!! I think if you did somthing with Tim Burton it would be soooo... just amasing!!!
I was an animator and director professionally for over ten years before I ever picked up a guitar.
I did not know that! =D
And you were so good at them!
What the hell, you can't do ? :D jaja
Your work is beautiful, and the love is clearly there in what you have created!
And it truly shows!!! Well fucking done! I'd love to see a full length film, I know you'd do fantastic.
This six minutes took me 4 months to animate working full time. lol!

Mata Turtle the narrator is Gary Numan
The ship is called ODOCO (for obvious reasons if you watch the film) the skeleton is an "Odokuro". They are similar that's all.
to this day, the "Don't be sad, it had to end this way." line always gets me. it makes me happy, it's genuinely changed my perspective about death and mourning... beautiful movie

LMAO YOU SAID "OH MY GOTH" UNIRONICALLY
@@rainbowrotcod talking to yourself 3 years later is a vibe 😭
This was like Tim Burton meets The Twilight Zone! I love the animation! When his eyes said FU that made me laugh!
F U. Get it? Fuck yo.😆😹
Me Too
You put it really well.
You have entered The Scary Door.

Absolutely gorgeous work. Yet another reason Voltaire is king of the media arts.
That was absolutely fabulous Voltaire! It definitely deserved all the awards it received.

Never realized Voltaire was quite this hugely talented.
This was absolutely beautiful. I never had a taste for this sort of thing, but your work indeed changed that, even if just for six amazing minutes. Thanks, and keep up your awesome work!
Incredible as always. I like how a discourse on the nature of the unexplainable blends perfectly with the nature of life itself.
dang,that's some nice sound design
Wonderful work! I love the thought that went into this, as well as the animation! Bravo!
That was really something, Voltaire. Thank you for uploading it.

It's so beautiful. I like much animation. I have a question, How long did it take to make this short film?.
Exactly!

Amazingly done, always been curious about your animation.
This was amazingly done and creepily awesome. :)
Incredible, brilliant stop motion.
