I would use the spring compressor after removing the shock. That will make it easier to remove the shock and easier to put on the compressor. Nice video.

It’s to take it out. If you remove the upper ball joint, which can sometimes be hard to remove, then you don’t need the spring compressor. I recommend removing the upper ball joint from the knuckle. BMW calls ball joints swivel bearings.

I've use spring compressor tool draper 14173. Different types will not fit in there. Thanks for watching.
