Would never happen, but would love an arcade game compilation where you could walk around the arcade, like this, but with proper old school classics like Virtua Cop, Sega Rally, Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter, The Simpsons arcade cabinet and the rest, all in one place..
It’s not that impossible they would just need the licensing for that specific game that is in the arcade that’s all, it’s doable but yeah no one is ever going to make that game a reality unfortunately, would be awesome though
Recently beat this game (finished the campaign and filled the arcade) and I agree I wish there was more of an endgame. There really is nothing to do but play the games you've collected, except for fix the odd broken game or collect trash now and then, but your income becomes meaningless and you can only hope to fill each spot of your arcade with paid DLC which even then does not do the job. My dream for this game is that there were so many cabinets to choose from that you actually had to cherry pick the right ones for you and fully customize the arcade itself. They could have worked on wallpaper, neon lights/ signs and office layouts for paid DLC and keep pumping out the cabinets and mini games to sustain the gameplay loop well after the end credits. Imagine a multiplayer mode where you can visit other players arcades and try to beat their high scores and stuff. Hopefully someday in Arcade Paradise 2, but I loved my time with the game it was a lot of fun to grind for 3-4 days.
I really like the game. Serves a funny little story with plenty of decent arcade games and some management. Played best over a longer period, not great for rushing through while reviewing it. Well worth the 20 $.
Closest Mall to where I live is about an hour away. Living in a southern small town, we don't get a lot of lasting businesses. We did have a laundromat that had a few arcade cabinets. Best was when they got the Street Fighter Vs X-Men. Me and a friend spent countless hours there as kids.
Game took me straight back to my early twenties. Music and game eras are slightly mixed, but I think it's aimed squarely at late gen xers like me. 80s synth stuff next to grunge on the juke box, 8 bit games next to mega drive era next to early 2000s hit clones. Great fun
Our laundromat has pinball and claw machines. I always wanted to open a laundromat with an arcade in back. I bet it would make BANK today with the interest in retro.
Is there an ending to the game? I'd imagine thar after beating it, you can continue playing. But is there a point where you've "beaten" the game? Or does it just drag on with no clear goal?
Sorry to reply to this a year later. I just played through the game myself and was checking reviews after. There is an endgame. There's an ongoing story where you're expanding the arcade, making it less of a laundromat behind your father's back. Eventually, you can turn into a full arcade. You can still play the game after that, but at that point, it's just getting all the achievements or goals with each arcade game.
tldr: "...if it tried to present an authentic representation of the arcade experience, it would have added more value". This is what I was hoping it would be like. The laundromat is a nice twist, but ultimately fails. There are plenty of authentic management tasks that could have been added. I've had day dreams of owning an arcade myself - I really wanted this to be good.
This game is dope lol. Someone gifted it to me on steam. It sat in my library for a couple weeks while i was modding Skyrim VR. Speaking of VR, i'm glad this is getting a VR version. It deserves it. Would be great to have mod support to put in real arcade games.
0:34 "It's funny that the last safe place to experience an arcade... is within a video game..." For years now, all I've been wondering if why are we not fixing our country? Why does it seem no one is making an effort to do so. Why is there so much crime, homelessness, poverty? Why aren't our politicians and state and local governments working???
Would liked it to have been like rollercoaster tycoon with loads of people walking around playing the game with thoughts and money, but with licensed arcade games/pinball and an option to play them. Maybe even stages of different arcade locations.
Its too bad that the achievements are glitchy. I have only one left and it will not unlock. Fun game but it is annoying to be missing one achievement knowing that I earned it
Gday I’m a 54 yo Aussie that loved arcades (rough as guts) in the early 80s, what PS4 games are there with just the old games like space invaders, centipede etc etc that you can play without doing this laundry rubbish?
The games within this are pretty good....play a lot of them longer than lots of the modern games that require hours of sitting through before they become challenging.
If you live in the UK, generally through work. You work and get paid in £. If you live somewhere else you get paid your local currency which you can exchange for £ in places like banks and credit unions. Happy to help!
Yeah i was excited for this game but after watching a few videos and things it would just make me want to go and play the actual games we liked back then. Good idea poorly executed. Great review 👍
@@JasonNZ42 Yeah whats even worse is I actually played it on gamepass and it was worse than i thought. A very grindy game that became monotonous very quick
I was really hoping this game would have more simulation elements as far as running the laundromat/arcade. Not to say what's here isn't fun, but I guess I was hoping it would be closer to Internet Cafe Simulator than what we wound up getting. Still fun to check out.
Nice review, but I think I'll to play the game I judge it for myself. Especially since I've already pre-ordered the physical version of the game from Limited Run Games. Also, I didn't see a review for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. At least not on here anyway
Not if you live 1 mile from Galloping Ghost. You can have that old arcade feeling anytime. I’ve lived in the area for years. They have way too many games in a relatively small building. I’ve been dreading a fire since they first really got their business going. It was cool at first because the room where they fixed the games was right there in the middle and you sometimes could see them working on fixing a game.
@@WiredP how would I try it without buying it? ;) the game is a cool idea, kudos to you guys. But my point remains that I would like to pass to anybody showing me the inside of a toilet like Scott the Woz or movies and such: Please, don't ;p
Yeah same here. It immediately lost me at the toilet plunging. I have to clean public restrooms at work. Why the hell would I want to do that in a game .

I could see it as a fan project where you can put your mame roms.
Although not as complete as you wish, some Sega games, like Yakuza, Judgment and Shenmue have an arcade with some classics in it.
Closest thing to that is the new Pac-Man collection can actually put the arcades around and walk up to them
It exists, it's called New Retro Arcade Neon and is VR

Imagine if capcom or Konami made a game like this with real arcade games .. I’d buy it
@@Mr_Fluffy_Pants_ I know huh. I would buy it too, especially if it was online
Maybe now after ufo50 got released they will see the potential in it
@@panpiskotka1207 what’s ufo50
It would be cool when the developer had access to real arcade games from SNK, Sega etc. and implement them.
I really like the game. Serves a funny little story with plenty of decent arcade games and some management. Played best over a longer period, not great for rushing through while reviewing it. Well worth the 20 $.
Are the bugs mentioned in the review still in the release?

I'm pretty darn excited for this game. I'd love to get it on Switch.
Come to think of it, laundromats would be way more fun if they included mini-arcades.
A lot of them kind of use to. It wasn’t uncommon in my area to see 3-4 cabinets, pinball and a claw machine.

The Video Air Hockey alone is dangerously addictive
I love the addition of Kung Fury; which is a must see movie in its own right
I didn't even know this game existed, im definitely picking up a copy soon. Thanks for the review.

Smart move for covering this game destructoid 😊

Nope, which massively disappointed me. Don't waste your money on this shite.
You may like Atari 50. That has a collection of over 100 atari console and arcade games
Dont listen to them, theres no punishment for not doing the laundry, Dont go into the game to take it too serious. Just have fun with it
this game kicks so much ass on the steam deck
The games within this are pretty good....play a lot of them longer than lots of the modern games that require hours of sitting through before they become challenging.
Still waiting for UFO 50, but this is a neat little collection of games wrapped in a arcade manager simulator. I'll check it out!
Can you save the game

I have to agree with this one. Definitely a promising idea. Imagine a sequel with more advanced Arcade machines, like Metal slug inspired games.

Just tried this one - it's a decent time waster. If I recall, the PC in the office states it's 1993....yet that's clearly a Windows 95 mock.
Where can i get this? Everyone has a different release date for it
It’s out today.
It is indeed today all over the digital stores.
Soooo, can we play this in VR?
Honestly did not care for this game at all.
U sound just like jack Osborne I thought it was for first couple mins , soz if u get tht a lot n annoys u was jst suprised me good review
