I started with the 3/$10 set from WM. I had no idea of what they were and thought 'yeah, right...and these aren't going to rip??' NOPE! Still sturdy and no rips/stains/holes and the zippers are still going strong. Those are made of parachute material. They've since changed it to a tent like nylon, but mine are still holding up well. They are MUCH better than suction bags. The set has a two-sided one that saved me so much space. I had to head home to NY from GA when my dad had a double stroke and I had to travel day after Christmas with a micro carryon to not risk losing it through checking it. It was especially helpful when the planes were grounded and I knew exactly where everything was at a glance. I continued to go every three months for 3 years until his passing. So they were especially handy in packing/compressing my NY winter essentials. There was a fellow passenger ahead of me who got pulled to the side because her suitcase showed cracking between the outer shell and the inner plastic shell. As the grungy-gloved TSA agent rifled through her items, delicates flopping over the edge, she was absolutely mortified. I felt so bad for her. When we both got to the bench, I asked her if she wanted to know how to avoid this next time. I unlocked and grabbed my three by the handle. It was like she had seen a miracle! I told her the agent would have never touched your items because you could have just pulled them out by the handle and held them while they searched. Then again, she may always just chuck stuff in, but look what happened, right? I also use one for a change outfit when we're on road trips so I don't have to go through the trunk. I have it in my tote bag and can just stop at a Bucc-ees to change. I pack my shoes in two $$store shower caps and put them in the bottom underneath the zipper nylon lining of the suitcase between the bars. I can fit 3 pair and still not have grunge on my stuff. I've since purchased various sized ones with different designs and shapes when I see them on clearance and I now have a wonderful selection. My daughter has also used my originals for several flights overseas when she doesn't want to take a suitcase that has to be checked. I also have various sized makeup pouches that I use for cords, first aid kit, church candy (did I just age myself??🤣 Seasoned Sr. Savvy sistah and Proud of it!) My SIL was a firm non-believer...until her suitcase cracked open and all her "business" flopped out in the hotel lobby. I also think packing cubes allow one to keep a sense of modesty. It just makes me feel better to know all my items are secure and organized. We are military so I am fully aware of rolling & folding, etc. but the packing cubes just make it even more efficient in my opinion. ~To each their own, best to all!

What a great idea to use a waterproof packing cube as a dry bag! I discovered packing cubes last year and now I can’t imagine traveling without them, because they making packing and unpacking so much easier and less stressful. I think it’s worth mentioning that often a luggage manufacturer will make packing cubes sized to fit their suitcases. I have the Away Bigger Carry-On and the Away packing cubes fit perfectly in the suitcase so that no space is wasted. Thanks again for an entertaining and informative video!

I like being able to pack prior to pulling out the suitcase and packing for back to back trips. I use ebags and eagle creek packing cubes and Gomex for compression packing cubes. Great video. YES to compression packing cubes! 👏🏽 I travel frequently and they are the best. I really like rolling my outfits then placing them in the cubes. It’s like having an outfit organized, pre-rolled, and ready to go. Thanks for sharing the info and what’s out there - excellent advice!
For me, it comes down to two things: am I using my hard shell luggage & will I be gone for more less than 7 days. If both of those are true, I use packing cubes. I’m plus size & really tall, so rolling pants is not an option. My clothes are bigger than the average size person. I have to use cubes with my hard shell. With soft sided, I have a packing style/system that works for me. Cubes I use: Eagle Creek & Tripped.

I have tried many brands of packing cubes. Compression cubes are the best in different colors. By far the Monos Luggage compression cubes are the Best in the market a bit pricey but worth it. ( six) E bags, Eagle Creek , Genius Pack are all washable, have handles, and have K zippers.I associate different colors with different clothing items. Good for organization.
Oh that’s god to know. I was actually eyeing Monks packing cubes the other day. Yes! I’ve heard a few people say they use a similar color system. Love that!! 💕
Thanks for the video. How to I decide which ones will fit best in my luggage? I want to fill the bag as efficiently as possible. Does one brand have more variety of sizes to choose from? I have a hard case carry on bag.
Hi there!! I would check the measurements of your luggage and check the measurements of the packing cubes you're interested in. They should have the dimensions and measurements in the description. Most packing cubes will fit most bags. The large ones are probably the ones you'll have to be more intentional/cautious of the measurements. Most brands usually have a variety of sizes to choose from. I would suggest getting a couple small and medium ones. Hope this helps! 💕
Packing cubes has been my favorite travel trip for a few years now. I always tell everyone to get a set with 2 zippers so you can push the clothes to one side and then open just a small corner to stuff additional items.
