That middle walkway is a really good idea. I replaced the decking on my parent's deck and we went from house to edge during removal.. the mid would have been easier than an edge walkway
Very helpful. Picture/video worth a thousand words! Plus can rewind and freeze frame to think it thru. I am using PT 2x6 joists on a project from HD. I read that one needs to be sure to use hangers and fasteners that are correct for PT lumber. Are Simpson Strong tie LUS26Z hangers correct for PT Lumber? Are the Simpson SDS connector screws 1/4 x 1 1/2" PT applicable? 2nd on your Power Pro screws you referenced, I did not see them on the list of materials. Should I use the ONE Multi-Material version or is there another you can point me to? Thanks for the info on the cut end sealer and spacers on the decking, will add to my go get list. For low profile floating deck out in Coeur D' Alene area.
@@BYOTools most welcome yeah i love DIY , renovations since i was a kid ... (over 40 yrs ) i grew up on this old house i love giving people suggestions ... i actually had to tell the idiots who put the pavers at the building complex where i live that you dont put tar then dirt then pavers in in a winter state but they didnt listen and now we have pavers that have sunk due to the tar moving and the jerks charged 6 grand for 2 patios plus they removed massive boulders of which they didnt have to do ... i even told our landlord they were screwed on the priced and the quality

Great job. I wish I had decided to tackle redoing our deck. I would have taken the time to plane the joists because they didn't and the Trex is a bit wavy.
Wow Andrew! I can't believe I didn't catch that until now. Sorry for the confusion and you are right. I ment to say 14 and 1/2 feet! Thanks for asking.
I'm stealing lots of info from this video for my deck build! Thanks! Curious, though: neither this video nor the second video talks about railings. What did you do for blocking for a surface-mount railing? Or if a fascia-mount railing, where did you add additional structural support?
brent, thank you for the areial. its confusing in your city how the houses are built. i know its a deck video but im trying to figure out the other houses in proximity to the house you are working on. its soo close.
@@BYOTools okay! its like pittsburgh. back in the day when steel production was really good they built houses inches from each other. you could literally step into your neighbors house from the upstairs window to. so i see people have been putting glassblock in the downstais window or/and cutting a new window on another spot so its not centered in the neighbors window. i hope that was understandable. 'guess what', im dying to see the completion of this deck. 😘 you must be inloved with decks.
Absolute respect man, that deck is gonna last forever 👏🏿
Thanks so much for watching and the kind words.
Where is part 2?
Looking good! Also, your narration has really improved man!
Great to hear that all of the hard work over the years is paying off Ryan. Thanks so much for watching.

Thanks for showing all the details that go into preparing a deck!
Great to hear Lisa and thanks so much for watching. I love helping others ACTUALLY learn how to build :)
Did you forget to treat that area you planed down?
Looking forward to part 2.
Great to hear Mark and I assure you part 2 wont disappoint haha
Мастер на все руки 💪😎👍

This house needs a lot of things haha. Thanks for watching Erik.

How about a cistern? That's where my back roof water ends up.

@@Erik-pr2rf It's possible to filter cistern water and use it as drinking water. I know people who do that here in Tucson.
Good

Ya that is a very important step in order to make sure you have a perfectly FLAT deck, or at least close to haha. Thanks for watching Dirk.
Keep up the awesome videos! I got a little thrown at 8:28 when you mentioned 14.5” and thought maybe I missed the point, but maybe you meant feet?

Who makes the adjustable post base?
Amazing as always!!
Thanks so much :)
Awesome
Thanks for watching.
Looks nice but I thought 4x4 posts were against code for decks?
Great 😃

8:04 Do you/are you able to nail that part of the joist hanger that’s between the rim joist and the added picture frame joists?
Great video!!!
Thanks so much Brandon.

No problem and thanks for watching. Ya the are extremely close in this area. From the end of the deck to the other house is less then 10'

11:07 movement between/among the rim and double joists at that location?
Yup…that’s already a beautiful start…love that the underneath will looks sooo good too! 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
Great to hear and thanks so much for watching Jane :)
👍
why still keep the wood decking? composite decking saves more in the maintenance
Did you not watch a moment of this video? haha!
