Greed is what causes price increase. The economy got shut down and now the business persons think they need to play catch up.. Shame...

Would you sell your home for 20-30% less than what it’s worth right now?

Mountainhome aslo supports a Singapore unit which also requires housing, I'm surprised that didn't make the story.

Analysts/Plans across the Country, SAW this supply & demand coming. Plus, we have ZERO laws to prohibit Investment Corporations from buying up neighbors & turning them into expensive rentals. WHY? WHY? WHY?

This same thing is happening to my area of Nevada. I live next to a big military base and they are having to live an hour away because they cant find housing in the town with there military base.

It's simply unfair to allow something as essential as housing to become a thing of speculative buying. The realestate lobby and Big Corporations are always paying to play and the political leaders are fn cowards.

I was stationed at Moutain Home AFB 50 years ago. As a young Airman with a wife and child life was difficult living off base. Mountain Home was a good duty station.

BAH (housing allowance) has risen 80% in 5 years, while Civil Service locality for Idaho has risen 1.6% over the same time.
In the past 15 years, military pay has risen 54%, inflation rose 34%, Civil Service pay has risen 27%.

It's definitely been crazy. But, with the market shifting, we are at least starting to see prices ease up a bit. Thankfully.

When I was station at Fort hood back in 93 to 95 there was a 3 year waiting list forE4 to E6. I had senior nco say if the army wanted you to have a wife then would have issue you one.

Idk if this is true or not but from what I've heard is that Airmen/women rate BAH if they are an E3 or above even if you don't have dependents. If true, that's a good percentage of people who should be in the barracks that are taking up market space where qualified service embers can instead rent. In the Marines I've seen up to Sergeants (E5) in the barracks.
