wow that's cool, thanks for the information miss taylah🙏, very useful, I also happen to use the Burrito method, but still you can't see the sewing line, because the label was attached at the start of sewing side to side so I attached the label. so that later when finishing it can be played
the edges of the seams go inward so that even if you rotate the sewing the edges/edges can be hidden and invisible.

Hi! In 2019, I made 100 scrunchies for a Breast Cancer Fundraiser. I made quite a few test ones to find out what looked good with keeping the costs down. I tried 4 sizes of elastic and various lengths/widths of fabric. The elastic size everyone liked was 1/4" elastic. People with thinner hair found the larger elastic didn't work on their hair. There were 6 testers all with different hair types. For this year's fundraiser, I am going to make scrunchies again but try the burrito method. I found sewing the raw ends of the tube together tedious! I made a burrito one last night and discovered that you can turn the seam inside so it doesn't show. I put it on my wrist and just moved the fabric around until the seam was on the inside. I went through 10 different versions of face masks until I found something that worked for me. Modified two patterns together. Use what feels right for you. Both look great! Thanks for sharing your experiment with us! Take care!

@@TaylahRose I like your original. The other one just looks like any scrunchie I can get in any store. I'm going to start my business soon when I'm healthier. I used to make scrunchies in school over 20 years ago. I won't be sewing mine but using another style maybe in a few years I'll sew them. I hope my business will be successful so I won't rely as much on others for employment.

Now this has confused me more than ever! lol I use the burrito method, but when you showed the difference between the original and the burrito, I have to agree that the original ones do look neater. I changed to burrito method as I struggle to get a nice neat finish on the final closing seam, but now I might go and practise again. I also use wide elastic and agree that it looks far better.

I use the burrito and put my tag in on when if first sew the ends together. And then when I get to the end of things I just twist the fabric a little bit and the seam will be on the inside. It’s a very professional finish because I struggled to get the final closing done even too. I just had the stiff line that comes with her OG method. The continuous loop is better in my opinion. But we all must find what works for us best.

Hi Taylah, i use same method with your original method to make scrunchie. I've had many times do the burrito method but never work with me, i dont know why hahaha. For the fabric i used 60cm length with 10cm width, and for the white elastic i use 18cm length with 1cm width. I've tried make scrunchie with 40cm-60cm length and i found 60cm looks better. And the 18cm white elastic is really fine to put on wrist, it wont hurt your wrist. Actually the method i used little bit different with yours for the last touch but honestly i dont like the result because i want my scrunchie look seamless, so i try to sew with hands but the result is not good either, so after watch this video i wanna try your method for the last touch hehe. Ah, i wanna say scrunchie with your og method looks better than the burrito because its more seamless and more fluffy.

Recently bought one done the burrito method, but I just turned it till the seam was on the inside LOL you can probably turn it easier before putting the elastic in. you just have to feed it through on the inside of the circle which might feel awkward at 1st. But I don't see anything wrong with your method anyways. You're still making beautiful scrunchies so you do it the way it makes you happy.

With the burrito you're also meant to turn the seam to the inside but you put the label there :) x

But with the burrito method you can have the seam in the inside, it just depends on how you put the elastic in

I prefer your original method with the extra fabric. One of my pet peeves is seams showing on the outside, especially for patterned fabric.

You have worked very hard and deserve the best in success. I have to assume this video was made during the virus and elastic was scarce. In the future you may want to not mention that you do not share suppliers (Unless it is a magic wand store that makes you so wonderful) since that is one of the small business connects is our suppliers, everyone grows.

The only time I can see that the burrito method might be preferable is if you were adding something in the seam, like piping or lace.

I definitely prefer the original just with a little more length, the seam on show with the burrito I think is less appealing. I also think the original tag placement in the opposite direction works better.
You're doing great, if its not broke don't fix it! :) Love the channel xx

I think your OG method yeild a better looking scrunchie because of the lack of the outside seam. Your old method is efficient for you and if it's not broke don't fix it. Thanks for comparison demo.

  • @kellye.5678

I've looked up 10 different scrunchie tutorials and still haven't found my favorite one yet. I want one that is quick but looks very neat. I have like ocd or something it took me hours to design the fabric labels because I adjusted the size and spacing like 20 times lmao. I think it all comes down to personal preference though. If you're selling well with the way you've been doing it theres no point in fixing what isn't broke. There will be other sellers who use the burrito method. I didn't even know it had a name haha
