2022 RAV4: Why you should only consider 3 of the 8(!) trims
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- This is a comparison video that dives into the main differences of the 8 trim level options of the 2022 Toyota RAV4 (LE, XLE, XLE Premium, SE, XSE, Adventure, TRD, and Limited), including the AWD and Hybrid variants, and which ones I recommend. The RAV4 Prime (plug-in hybrid) is briefly discussed as well.
CORRECTION: As a viewer rightly pointed out (thanks!), the TRD trim does come with a stainless steel front skid plate as standard (that was introduced on TRDs for the 2021+ model years). That still doesn't change my general opinion that the TRD isn't worth the additional cost, and a front skid plate still doesn't protect all of the underbody components, but it is something. Also, you can buy the skid plate as a standalone part from Toyota for approximately $400, and it should be a pretty simple install on any model.
fuck a hybrid more costly to repair keep it simple STUPID, this whole ''clean energy'' going green it's all a fucking scam lol, you cannot even build these vehicles or materials without fossil fuels, what ev is about is locking customers/3rd parties out of repairing their vehicles.
Given surveys have shown over 3/4 of Americans don't know how to change their own oil, I don't think a hybrid powertrain is what is preventing people from repairing their own vehicles. Major hybrid powertrain components also must be warrantied by the manufacturer for at least 8 years and 100k miles (and in some states it's 10 years/150k miles). Lastly, given hybrids have been on the market for 20+ years at this point, I think we're past the initial teething pains (especially those using Ni-mh batteries). Heck, direct fuel injection was a "complicated" technology at one time too, and now well over 50% of all cars sold in the US utilize that.
@@drivetorun4172 fuel injections been around since the 1950s avalible option on chevy bel airs, it didnt get wildely adopted untill later tho, but most mechanics dont even know how to work on hybrids tbh, it's just best to go all motor naturally aspirated and fuck the turbos also ''K.I.S.S.'' old military saying keep it simple stupid.
@@billybobbob3003 I understand that you are frustrated by the complex technology that all vehicles have. I chose a naturally aspirated engine to avoid complicated and expensive repairs, but tady's cars are far too complex for a DIYer to repair. even basic maintenance items could require costly tools and hours of study just to understand the new design of a modern car. I take my car to a trusted Honda specialist when it needs work done.
@@jaimieconroy36 lol dude its just common sense the more shit u have the more there is to break it's engineering 101
It would be amazing if you continued this for 2023 models as well. You broke everything down well and it was a solid video. Thank you for taking the time to make these.
I've been looking for a clear, straight forward analysis of these trims for hours and I've gone from annoying 30 minute videos to convoluted articles, most of them on Toyota dealership websites (wtf), until I found this video. Thank you for getting straight to the point! It took me four hours to sift through all the fluff to reach the same conclusion you did in your succinct 7 min video.
Glad I could be of help!
My parents got a RAV4 limited gas for the same price as the RAV4 XLE premium but that was also in 2019 🤷♂️
Awesome me too
@@drivetorun4172 I suppose I need to number crunch, how long it would take to recoop the extra $ spent on the Hybrid AWD version, vs. gas.
If it's also more fun to drive - i.e a little more power, then I suppose that's an advantage as well.
This is hands down the most informative video on Rav4 trims. If I look at the websites, i would have never be able to come to this conclusion. Thank you !!!
Right 👍👍👍👍👍
I can see tons of potential in this type of video. Short, comprehensive, and straight to the point. Keep them coming.
Thank you so much--I appreciate it!
I have the XSE. I buy Toyota for Reliability I'm also a single adult. This is the perfect vehicle if you don't have a family!
We just got our hands on a ‘22 RAV4 XLE. The markup is INSANE right now! This video confirmed we made the right choice! 😅 Thanks!
“In-sane to the Membrane!” You’re 100% correct!
Hi how much did you pay for the xle compared to the msrp shown on this video?
Ive been watching 2022 rav4 videos for last 2 weeks trying to figure out what trim to buy and cant believe UA-cam didn’t recommend your channel til I started watching sienna videos. Great info! put in deposit for xle base last week and feels good to get some confirmation.
Thanks for being real. I was initially leaning towards the XSE until I watched this video and I'm now settled for XLE. I now realize that the SE lineup is basically just for aesthetics.
You have the most comprehensive video about the trim levels of the RAV4 5th Generation, regarding the cost. On top of the mark up as you mentioned, the dealerships may not have the colors and trim levels you might want. But overall your video is an excellent source of information to take a good decision of getting the most value for your dollars.
Very true--particularly if you are in a smaller market. I'd look at your nearest metro area where hopefully there are more dealers which will drive some of that mark-up down (I've got at least 10 Toyota dealers within 30mi of my house, and I've found multiple that aren't charging any mark-up). Even with that though, you are correct that finding the color or trim you want still may not be easy.
As a Toyota technician, I think this video kind of bypasses the differences between the radio/head units between the different trim levels. If you care about things such as navigation, automatic SOS services, remote starting, and audio quality, then the "in between" trim levels make a lot of sense since there is a total of difference between the Audio, Audio Plus, Premium Audio, and Premium Audio with JBL. The cost difference for the in-between models makes more sense in that way.
A small thing to note too, the LE trim cannot have roof crossbars installed since it doesn't come with the roof rail system- another strike down for that base trim.
Otherwise, great video! I wish our salesmen knew even a third of this.
how about the Dynamic Torque Vectoring All Wheel Drive with Rear Driveline Disconnect?
In the market for a new Rav4, and I was puzzled about the differences in trim levels and which ones would be best for me. Your informative video helped clear that up really well, thank you!!
I’ have an 2020 RAV4 TRD and I truly love it, I just added a 2” lift Kit and 245/60/18 Wild Peaks A/T and it feel and drives completely different in a great way. It doesn’t feel little anymore or like a soccer mom SUV. Plan on putting some more off road/ overlanding upgraded into it as the years pass but gonna enjoy this ride. I was able to take out long commutes to work so losing MPG isn’t making me losses sleep. It’s perfect for my outdoor natured inspired, artist lifestyle.
Do you have link to the lift you got? I’m getting a woodland and want to lift it
We rented a RAV4 last month. Liked it. Saw your video today, wished I had seen it before we rented to get a much better fix on exactly what we were driving. I could have figured in your observations and expertise. Like so many others, compliments for an excellent, comprehensive RAV4 tutorial.
That’s super nice of you to say-thank you!!
At least you rented it rather than purchasing it.
I appreciate the comments and input. Just a few suggestions if you are planning to continue:
1) might be helpful if you get a better microphone for clarity.
2) I respect your opinion, but I think I disagree that there's certain trims. I think would be better if you mentioned what you lose out of each trim, how much more would it cost, and who might be interested in it. There was a time in my life that the LE was the only one I would have been able to afford. The XLE is an excellent option. The premium is really nice, and I agree, there's a reason why I think these are the two most popular selling. I just got my XSE hybrid. I wanted the power moon roof. I do like the outside trim a lot more. I go up to the mountains a lot, so the pano moon roof is excellent when I have passengers in the back and they can't see the beautiful view I get to see.
The limited... A lot of bells and whistles, but if you have the money and it's worth it to you, I respect that.
As far as suggesting other cars. I checked out every car that was suggested to me while I was shopping. And this one fit on my needs for being practical yet rugged and versatile. I know there's some higher end cars or more affordable similar SUVs, but I could go down the list and tell you why each one didn't work for me.
Thanks for the input though. Hope mine was helpful
I’ve been looking at used RAV4 and debating between XLE and Adventure! This is the best and most useful video I’ve seen yet! Thank you!
I've been trying to figure out for hours what the difference is between the trims. This video simplifies everything.
Nice job. Potential buyers need to know the pros / cons and what it's worth to move into a higher trim level. This is a nice niche you have carved out for your videos. Thanks.
Thank you-I really appreciate it!
I agree with you the XLE is the best choice.. I would personally go for The XLE Premium. The Adventure would be the one to go for if you wanted the more sporty trim without adding a lot more to the cost.
Hybrid or gas ?? Which one is the best?
Thanks for creating this video. It was very informative and I was teetering between the XLE or the SE series. You helped me solidify my option if and when I decide to get a new vehicle.
Awesome--glad I could be of help! Good luck in your search!
Hands down, the best and to the point trim comparison.
Thank you so much
There's way too many trims and not enough differences between each one to give each one a unique distinction.
Many features on the XLE should be standard on the base LE model. The base model should at least come with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, smart key and push button start, 17" alloy wheels, 6 way power driver seat, etc
I 1000% agree with you. The number of trims manufacturers are making these days is ridiculous...makes me think that if they simplified things a bit more, maybe it'd be easier for them to get the parts they needed :)
Does XLE come with heated seats? Does XLE premium come with heated and cooled?
Go and buy American brand and not the Japanese once.
@@MilkyWayGalaxyy no they don’t. every trim that does come with heated seats gets it in the weather package for around $800 to $1000 more. bullshit. highlander and sienna do get it standard on xle and higher trims i believe.
@@shantanumankar5383 never. i will never buy american cars. i want a dependable car that doesn’t need a lot of repairs and maintenance. toyotas are statistically significantly more reliable than fords, chevys, gmcs, and dodges.
You helped me to finally be able to decide which Rav 4 to buy. I have watched so many videos over the last 6 months, and you cleared up so much for me. The other videos left me more confused. Thank you.
This video helped me buy a 23 Rav4 Hybrid XLE. Wonder why you stopped making or updating these. I personally got a lot of value and consider these the most useful videos on YT for a serious and yet novice or first time car buyer who does not know what trim to get. You provide serious analysis on why people should (or not) consider certain trims without fluff.
This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much!
Great explanation! Is scoured all over UA-cam for a concise comparison like this in the rav4. Going with the xle hybrid with moonroof and heated seats
Awesome! Glad I could be of help!
I have a 2021 Limited Hybrid with now 35,000 miles. Love it. Actual calculated MPG is 43 overall.
I hope you get that 3-4 yrs down the road due to battery degradation.
This video was really informative out of all I’ve seen out there in UA-cam. Just ordered my Rav4 xle “lunar rock” color last week. Hopefully it doesn’t take that long to arrive.
Very nice breakdown! Had already narrowed my choice down to the XLE Premium and this pretty much confirmed that choice.
Good choice! I bought a 2021 XLE Premium (gas version) in April 2021 just before the inventory problems started. I'm in Canada and the XLE Premium at that time was an extra $3800 over the XLE. IMO, it was worth it to get the nicer 19" alloys, Softex seats, bigger screen, memory seats and a few other goodies. We love it and the gas mileage is superb!!!
XLE AWD seems perfect for me! Enough technology without being too overloaded. Really glad it still has terrain selection modes as well
Found you from a Reddit comment. Straight forward and simple with basic table charts. I like it. Thanks!
Great work. Helpful video that go straight on point to compare so many trim options and clears the confusion on what trims to consider. Saves hundreds of minutes of reading various blogs and websites that do not offer clear answers.
Thanks--that's exactly what I was trying to achieve, so I'm glad it was helpful!
The best and most efficient comparison!
Thank you, your videos are short and concise with all the information needed. Great job 👏 and thank you!
Purchased the TRD Rav4, and I do not regret it one second. It is beautiful, works for me and it met every check mark I was searching for and then some. Do we really need a TRD rav4? If I buy a corvette, do I have to take it racing. Sometimes, purchasing a vehicle is about appreciating the machine it is. Like who needs a Lamborghini SUV. Get the car you want and dont let anyone say its not for you.
Thank you. This video really helped me decide which trim to go with; and of course I went with the XLE Hybrid. I agree with the recommendations and I also compared the differences on Toyota site as well and added my preferred options. Thanks for a great video!
You did an excellent job here!
Hi, I just bought a 21 RAV4 XLE with Cold Weather Package threw Coscto auto program. Glad to see I picked a smart trim level. Thank you, very informative !!
Congratulations Roy! Thank you!!
I'm considering costco auto program as well. How was your experience with them?
You found a dealer that participates in the Costco Auto program during the supply chain shortage?!? Everyone's been telling me that they aren't honoring at this time due to high demand/low inventory.
@@meganmcdonald7405 yes I left a deposit in November.
Wow amazing so much more clear and concise than many of the other breakdown videos hope you do more of these and specifically for this year‘s model SUVs
Just last week, I bought a 22 Lunar Rock XLE AWD non-premium. They'll bury us in this so I went without the Hybrid option. Even though it has a great warranty on the Hybrid aspect, I don't want to caught with super high dollar repairs and possible obsolescence when we've gone beyond 10 years as we intend to. It's MSRP was $33,847. It has the XLE "CP" Convenience pkg including Moon Roof and Power Lift Gate. Also has the XLE Weather "CY" pkg that includes Heated Seats, Heated Steering Wheel, Rain sensing wipers that are also de-icing with heat.
Only other thing we would have liked was Leather so for $700, I'm DIY installing Clazzio Perforated Leather seat covers front back of my color choice and I guarantee even the sharpest eyes would say they were factory seats, they're beautiful! For $250, I'm DIY adding a Draw-Tite trailer hitch that doesn't reduce clearance, and will DIY add a larger transmission cooler for a couple hundred bucks which I do on most all my vehicles because heat is the killer of transmissions...period.
I just added really nice Diode Dynamics LED SAE Driving Lights in the fog position. Just bought some crappy halogens on Amazon for $50 to get the new panels for the bumper and also got the harness, relay, and an OEM style switch for the left side dash where I have an empty spot. That project ran about $400 but is ultra high quality gear.
Already Plasti-Dipped the OEM 17" wheels matte black and they came out awesome. Next is some 245/65/17 All Terrain tires and we're done! This is my second Toyota and I have fallen in love with it aftrer just 2 weeks of ownership. My first is a Tacoma TRD Off Road Dual Cab Long Bed I bought 6 months ago. Another incredible machine!
That is an impressive list of mods--nicely done! Glad you're enjoying it so much!
21 XLE Premium I went with the TorkLift hitch which does not appear to reduce clearance either. Also this wiring harness install.
ua-cam.com/video/wUXkKFOPk3E/v-deo.html
I'd like more details on the cooler install. You amy be able to two a few more pounds with that if needed. Gonna check out the seat cover option. Thanks
Thank you so much!!! Very informative and straightforward video!
Wow these comments are spot on! Best video I’ve seen and makes my decision a no-brainer: xle premium hybrid lol. Thank you!! Always thought how odd it is they have a million different trims.
awesome video, wish you'd continue these types of videos
Really great break down. I have three family members who bought this gen RAV4, first one bought the Limited AWD Hybrid, which features a kick to open hatch feature. That was removed when a Toyota spec trailer hitch was added. Next member bought an LE AWD Hybrid. Now the third member has ordered and XLE AWD Hybrid. All Canadian, so specs are slightly different to this. And now there are used Primes on the market...for $10-$15k over new prices.
I never thought about how a kick to open hatch could be incompatible with a tow hitch...interesting! Thank you!
Yeah the Toyota hitch integrates into the rear bumper right where the sensors are, at least that's how the couple installs I've seen were done. After market hitches sit under the bumper and might not interfere with the sensors.
Thanks for the info! TBH, I feel like the kick to open hatches are a bit more gimmicky than actually being useful. I've never been in a situation where I've thought to myself, "I really wish I could just swipe my foot under the rear bumper to open the hatch," but then again, I've never lived with one that had that feature, so I could be wrong.
I agree that XLE and XLE premium are typically the way to go, but you forgot to mention the upgraded, darker 18 inch wheels with the premium that look great IMO.
Thanks! Different colored rims are really subjective in terms of whether that's a plus or minus (I know people who feel strongly in both directions), and the different color really doesn't cost much more for Toyota to make, so I tend not to call that stuff out to justify spending more for a particular trim.
Okay so I am deciding between XLE and XLE premium. By Darker wheels do you mean black wheels? Also does the basic XLE come with push to start and rear vents?
I really hate the fender flares. Do you think they will take those off in 1 or 2 years?
Black wheels are really pretty!!
Good video, another reason I chose the XLE Premium was the better-looking wheels and you also get, at least in the 2023 model, a dual memory driver's seat.
I like your quick look at all the Rav4 trims. I am seriously considering a purchase of a new Rav4. Thank you for showing all the trim levels, it helped me find the right vehicle.
Absolutely--glad it was helpful!
I have 2022 le AWD gas and love it , mine has blind sept monitoring , bought it used here in Canada with only 3700 km at 2 yeats old , now at 13000km and bought this trim level as it was a deal and low km and very happy with it, got a near new vehicle . Added some Toyota oem aluminum rims .
Super clear and helpful. Thank you for putting this comparison together.
Absolutely--thank you!
I got an adventure for the towing capacity added 2 lift kit and the metal skid plate. I do off light roading and these mods seem to help. I like the fuel economy as well.
Sounds like a nice build! If the TRD actually came with a lifted suspension, then I could justify recommending it, but in its current state, I think you did the right thing modding an Adventure-enjoy!
So I have a woodland coming to me next month but I did think to save money to go with the adventure, your thoughts?
I wish I had seen this video before I bought my Rav4. The reasons you mentioned are the exact reason I want to change my car
Best comparison ever on UA-cam!! Thank you and thank you!!
I ordered an XLE with convenience and cold weather package. Also mud flaps and wheel locks . My first Hybrid 😎 I picked it up last month and great so far.
Awesome--congratulations!
Just reserved that same configuration. Any tips on points of negotiation? @Robert Poole
My two cents...in this market, your biggest leverage is probably your trade-in (if you have one). Do a bit of legwork and get offers from Carmax, Carvana, Vroom, etc. and know what the highest one is before heading into the dealer.
Thanks for the video. Was leaning towards LE but most probably will go for XLE
Glad I could help!
The LE is too much bare bones.. I would at least want push start and blind spot monitoring on the vehicle at that price point not to mention alloy wheels..
This is the best analysis / guide for consumers ... Thank you for your video .....
That's so nice of you to say--thank you!
I got a brand new 2022 RAV4 Hybrid. I've got 1,500 miles on it commuting to and from work. Here in Maine, if I use eco, stay 5 mph under the speed limit, and drive like my grandmother, I am lucky to get 32 mpg from my hybrid in January, February, and March. I went to the dealer today and they said, "Oh yea, you'll get 10 mpg more in the summer... if you don't use your air conditioning." I like the car, but don't expect to get any where near the stated mpg. It's better than the 22 mpg I was getting from my old Subaru Legacy, but my son gets better mileage from his non-hybrid Subaru Impreza.
Wow, good story.
My requirements (among Toyota cars) were: Look good (2-tone) and be a hybrid. The only trim that fits that bill for me is the XSE. Maybe you can modify the other trims to look like the XSE, but I prefer everything to be perfect out of the box. I imagine I'll drive this for the rest of my life (not in a 3-wish genie sort of way), but who knows.
That makes complete sense! As I mentioned, the SE or XSE work if you love the styling changes and are willing to pay extra for them (and car buying has never been a 100% left brain exercise anyway). Plus, if you're planning on keeping it for a really long time, the additional incremental cost will be a wash in the end. Enjoy!
I was the same. My big thing was I wanted the pano moonroof. That only came on the xse. Plus I loved the two tone and it’s a hybrid. It’s why I went out of my way to find one last year over an xle or even xle premium.
I have to admit, that I went with the XSE because of the pearl and shiny black trim. Pretty fun driving around in something that looks like a stormtrooper. LOL
If it brings you joy every time you see it, then it's well worth the extra cost!
Same - Hybrid is a MUST for any car I buy. XSE is the best option if a hybrid engine is important.
One of the best Rav4 videos I've seen here. I had decided on getting an XLE Hybrid. Your video confirms my decision. Wonder why no driver seatback map pockets?
Thank you! Yes, a driver's seatback pocket is only offered on the Prime XSE...all due to attempts at cost-cutting I'm sure...
They introduce it at the next trim level. Literally map pockets are now part of "Optional features." That said, I bought a Limited and totally feel it was worth it... including for the map pockets.
FANTASTIC VIDEO! I'm happy I was already looking hard at the XLE
One of the best information I was looking for
Keep doing this is very helpful

one more difference: XLE wheel is 17 inch compared to XLE premium which is 18 inch. I bought XLE premium over XLE, as the price difference for me was just $800 with the packages my dealer added to them.
Yeah, I'm guessing you got the hybrid then (the gas-only XLE premium comes with 19"; the hybrid XLE premium comes with 18"). Quite frankly, in the name of simplicity, I try to focus on differences that are more feature-oriented than appearance since those differences can sometimes be harder to identify (it's relatively easy to see a size/style difference when comparing a vehicle side-by-side). But, you are absolutely correct!
I was going to make the same statement about those Hybrid trims. I was going back and forth with those two and plan on purchasing the premium also.
This was an excellent review. We’re in the market for buying a RAV4 and this convinced us of the XLE premium
Thank you!!
Just in case you want leather seats but don’t want to pay 3k more or have moon roof and power lift gate for xle premium, I just ordered a 22 rav4 xle and custom ordered leather seats and it ran me $1495 even for upgrade. Saves 1500 dollars for what it’s worth!
I just had total sticker shock when I looked up the Premium. MSRP was $40k but they wanted $50k.
With that large of a markup, you should look across the country and find a dealer that isn't charging a markup...and then either ship it your house or make a roadtrip out of picking it up. It'll cost well less than $10k...
@@drivetorun4172 I thought you can get well below MSRP?? If I wanted an XLE premium, what is the lowest I can tell them I want to pay? And XLE?
I bought my xle hybrid 2022 for 40k out the box. 35k price of car with package and tax plus 5k marked up adjustment. Any opinion if its worthy or not. Its total of 42.5k down to 40k.

I have a 2021 XLE premium hybrid and I really like the car. My only complaints are really is the suspension and it’s a bit noisy. Love the the performance for how frugal it is. Has great hwy passing power and I’d love to try the prime next.
Awesome! Out of curiosity, what about the suspension don’t you like?
@@drivetorun4172 just feels a little soft under hard acceleration and fast lane change. Not that it’s terrible or anything, it’s just a surprisingly quick car, so it almost feels like it needs stiffer suspension. Still love the car and it’s got really usable power for getting 435 miles per tank.
Interesting--thanks for sharing!
Subscribed. Very nice details of all the trim in very efficient and easy way. If you do this for all the SUV's it will be great for your channel.
Thank you! Yes, the Corolla Cross is going to be the next video that gets posted (before the end of the week), and I'll continue to work my way through the other SUVs.
This video says that you shouldn't buy a Rav4 unless there will regularly be passengers in the backseat. I disagree. An SUV is easier to get in and out of than a sedan or hatchback the high driving position gives much more visibility than a sedan does. An SUV also provides greater cargo space than a sedan. This is why we are very likely to buy an SUV for our next vehicle even though it is quite rare for us to have backseat passengers.
That absolutely makes sense! It’s just that if you’re main reasons for looking at the RAV4 is for the ride height and additional cargo, then I’d probably look to the Corolla Cross or some other smaller SUV where you just primarily keep the seats folded down and then you’d still have plenty of space for cargo.
Great Video. I was stuck on choosing between the xle premium and limited, but decided to go with the xle premium and add the options for the audio plus, weather package and technology package, which would about equal to the msrp for the limited. Im also not a fan of the limited’s chrome finishes on the door handles and rear end, but it looks amazing on the grill.
Sounds like you're making a smart, well-informed choice! Best of luck!
Aprox, what's a new Rav4 XLE go for without tax? Are they marking up alot over MSRP?
If you go to 0:15 in the video, you can see the pricing for the XLE (in FWD, AWD, or Hybrid forms). In terms of marking up a lot over MSRP, I'm sure there are some dealers that are, but you can also find dealers that aren't. If you look at various forums (like this one: www.4runners.com/threads/msrp-dealerships-list-them.20301/) you can find lists of dealerships that are only charging MSRP.
I really appreciate the effort you put into this video. Thank you.
Edit: Subbed.
Thank you so much!
Hi I appreciate your thoroughness on the rav4 trims. I was wondering if you could do a similar video for the corolla cross? Thanks.
Absolutely! It was already on my to-do list, but I'll move it up in the queue. I'll get it out within the next week
Thank you for this will definitely be considering the XLE Hybrid now thanks. I’ve been back and fourth with this and the other trims.
Glad I could be of help!
Exactly. Back and forth. Too many trims. It's confusing. I am concerned about having to replace the hybrid battery on top of the additional upfront costs for the hybrid. I just don't think I will drive enough to make that 5k cost worth it in the end.
Great summary and conclusion...
Thank you so much!
I bought an LE AWD back in 2019. I needed something with the best mpg, low price, and the most headroom. They knocked $6k off. I wouldn’t pay MSRP for an LE, even in the current market. The hybrid was not available and the XLE and above had a sunroof that killed headroom.
Wow! Getting $6k off back in 2019 means you could probably sell it today for about what you paid for it back then!
@@drivetorun4172 I could but I don’t want a Covid Car. I’ll wait this out.
So how much did you pay for it in 2019? All these trims and their different pricing is so confusing. I want as many options as I can get for as little as possible of course but there are also so many small things they charge for that I may not want or need.
Are you saying the LE has more headroom than the other trims? Most headroom is important to me too. Interesting that the sunroof decreases headroom.

We bought a XLE premium last year with weather and safety packages on it and absolutely love it, We had a 2014 previously and this is a 2021-a world of difference ! We didn’t get the hybrid model.
Awesome! Did you end up getting a FWD or AWD model?
@@drivetorun4172 just the front wheel drive-it handles amazing !
@@deankirkman7753 Wait I just bought a XLE premium 2022 today!! Anything you think maybe I should know to get the best deal? and how to use certain parts of the car!
@@genaxide Purchased the same vehicle (2022 Hybrid XLE Premium). Drove it for 100 miles on the first day and it was a pretty smooth ride. Currently, from all the research I've done, TrueCar and Carmax have been offering the best deals but you have to shop around. Additionally, I was told by a dealer who had inspected my trade in that in his opinion, CarMax would offer the best trade-in value.
@@deankirkman7753 How much did you pay total? I am deciding between the XLE and XLE premium. Is it really worth it?
Please keep up the excelent work. Best Rav4 video I ever seen so far.❤️👌
Great video, thank you for this! I'm interested in the Adventure, not 100% sure about the towing, but might need it one day when I'm out in the country!
Absolutely! I'm glad it was helpful!
Very logical comparison, saves a lot of time, can you do a similar trim video for Camry 2022
Thanks! I'll move the Camry one up in my to-do list, but that's going to be a bit of work given how many trims (I think 13...) plus three different powertrains there are. I'll try to tackle it this weekend and post probably in about a week.
Thank you so much for this video! This definitely help me better my decision on The XLE premium
I wish someone do this type of comparison video about cars here in PR. The prices in PR are extremely ridiculous compared within the States. We have to pay a lot of extra money just because the taxes and over that the inflation rate that the dealerships are putting on the cars. It's been so frustrating to get a new car here. We usually pay over $10k vs what you pay in USA. IE, the rav4 you can pay over $50k and I'm not talking about the top of the line! Tacomas over $60k!🤦🏽♂️
And Tundras I guess would be over the $100k the TRD pro. Anw, thanks for the video, even though the prices are much higher here, this video helps a lot to understand the differences between the trims levels.
That's a bummer...I'm sorry to hear that! For us, in some cases, Canadians get the same cars $3-5k cheaper than the US when you do the currency conversion...global trade is weird...
@@drivetorun4172 I have to mention, we use us dollars. The problem is the taxes and fees.
That was waay too helpful! Thank you
I'm glad to hear that--thanks!
God I wish Toyota dealership was as clear and concise as you
That's really nice of you to say--thanks!
Just picked up my ‘22 xle hybrid. What an awesome vehicle.
THE BEST RAV4 VIDEO! thank you!
All this assumes you can pick what you want. In the current market, I had to reserve the ONLY rav4 hybrid our dealership was getting 6 weeks in advance. It was an SE and I agree the small upgrades aren't really worth the extra price, but it's better than not getting a rav4 at all or waiting months for the correct trim level to become available.
You absolutely may be right...it doesn't look like this supply chain shortage is going to get fixed anytime soon!
My local dealer charges around 46K-48K for the XSE hybrid.
Same here. Insane
I'm quite happy with my LE hybrid. I don't need any gadget. And i've bought an additional set of wheels/tires when i'm doing a lot of gravel road (like 12 hours) up north in Canada. The KO2 225/75/16 10 plys are doing great on those roads. 8-)
I bought the TRD. It has built in GPS maps. The adventure you need to plug in your phone. I live in an area i dont get phone signal, so built in GPS is a MUST. adventure doesnt have premium speakers or backup cameras..... a friend of mine has the Hybrid. Hybrid is great but i think it depends where you live. The nearest town is 30 minutes away.. since the battery only charges when going under 40Kph, brake or coast... her battery is always almost dead cause shes never doing those things.... I think the hybrid would be great in the city..
Yes, you have to option up the TRD to get built-in GPS maps...one quick tip though, Google Maps does let you "download" maps to your phone in case you are out of signal range, and they'll still work (I use that feature quite a lot). The Adventure does come with a backup camera (all cars have to now...it's the law), but you do have to option either the Adventure or the TRD with their respective audio packages to get the upgraded JBL speakers.
Really informative video. I don’t know if this changed since you made it, but in ‘23 the limited comes standard with the 10.5 screen/11 speaker jbl sound system and upgraded speedo display. For me the audio upgrade makes a big difference.
Thanks. I was indecisive between xle and xle premium. This video clarifies it. Now about the mark-up pricing. I wanted share this with you guys to see if I ready strike a deal with this buy. 2022 rav4 xle. All weather packages, convenient packages, moonroof, and all weather floor mat; front wheel drive ( really no need for the AWD); for a final sale price of 35000. Is this a good deal? This is still pending, and I have 4 days left to back down with a full refund of my deposit. Thank you all!
Dig a little more...the SE/XSE have the improved lithium battery packs making it a consideration. And, if you drive the base RAV4, the added handling is very much welcomed in the SE/XSE.
You can get fog lights from ebay and follow a youtube guide. We ordered a rav4 hybrid xle and will switch out the speakers instead of opting for high trim
That's certainly an option! I hope you like your new RAV4!
We have our name on the list for a prime and plan on keeping it for 100 to 150k, calculated out the savings in fuel and hopefully good resale and that seemed to be the best bang for our buck in an all wheel drive platform
Great choice!
The prime keeps getting more and more expensive. Why is it so popular? You have to hire an electrician and install a wall outlet in your garage for it. It costs so much. The hybrid batteries will need to be replaced at some point which is at least 2k more.
Where do you sell it for resale? The dealership? Bc they always rip you off.
@@MilkyWayGalaxyy I think there are a few reasons why the Prime is popular. Depending on where you live, the incentives can make it so there's really no additional cost to buy a Prime vs. a standard hybrid. Additionally, if your commute is less than 40 miles a day, you could end up never having to buy fuel, but you still have the gas engine as a back-up if you need to go on a longer trip (for those who have range anxiety with full electric vehicles or only want one vehicle in the garage, a plug-in hybrid is a good compromise). Finally, the RAV4 Prime is the second quickest vehicle Toyota offers (behind the Supra), so there's potentially a fun-to-drive/performance element to it too.
All well and good, however Toyota arrogantly have told Australia we don't need the Prime option.
Weird...I'd like to hear their rationale for that decision...
Every point brilliantly conveyed
FYI: The jeep trailhawk actually underperformed on a direct midsize comparison, so I’d caution the assumption it’s the best off-road capable option. see here: (skip in linked vid to 43:44 for results)
