Kinda EV with BZ4X but dont get that, trust me
Engine
Same 2.5 n/a 4 cylinder you’d be familiar with from the other RAV4s
But here it has the BIGGER battery 18.1 kWh
So it’s good for 302 hp
Some big number of torque that neanderthals like me dont know
0-60 in 5.5 - FAST
But most importantly it’ll do 42 miles of full electric range
That’s p[robablty enough to get you to work and back
Just in hybrid mode it’ll do 38 mpg
PHEV things
18 kWh battery
Compare to like 76 kWh in Ioniq 5
Good for that useable daily range
Importantly can be changed on level 1 in 12 hours
But you should get level 2 Emporia
2.5 hours
94mpgE
Drivetrain
eCVT but this XSE has paddles

Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! Rav4 hybrid or Prime?
I have one and the way I look at it, this is the best EV with 600 miles ranges under $50k and the best 300 hp SUV that gets 40 mpg. Nothing even comes close lol
Apart from the Suzuki Across 😊
Excellent ! I like it . Your presentation is well done. Thank you.
Excellent summary of the most important features and design characteristics of the Prime XSE. Thank you!
🫶
Car and driver also recommends dodge, so car and driver does not really know anything about automobiles
Good point..
Consumer Reports ranks the Rav 4 Prime number one among mainstream compact SUVs. The biggest problem is finding one. Wait times can be pretty lengthy.
Got this style prime last year…. Its great!
Great summary. My wife just ordered one of the RAV 4 Prime's today.
Nice!
For some reason even though we have the same car I can't get the screen to look like yours with all the large icons. How did you do it?
Does this have start and stop radar cruise control?? I hate when it shuts off at 20 miles
We own 2 Rav 4 Primes 2021. We gas up every 6 months (we intentionally burn off the gas) On vacation we net 38 mpg
We have been married for 37 years and these automobiles are the best we have ever owned.
ECVT is solid. Not a belt and pulley piece of garbage transmission found in a CVT.
Wish I could get the Heads-Up display on the regular RAV4 Hybrid...
FYI… some of the features you are chatting about (panoramic roof, birds-eye view, cooled front seats, kick to open liftgate) are all options in the premium package, but NOT standard in the XSE. I know this as I just traded in a 21 RAV4 Limited Hybrid with ALL the toys, to a 24 Prime XSE with many options but not the premium stuff. My intention was to lease another RAV Limited… until I saw the difference in price vs options. The rebates for the Prime were just too good to pass up. It was a no-brainer.
What rebates? And is it for lease only?
That huge high mounted monitor just looks ridiculous and those icons so large.
You're correct....ridiculously amazing!
I wish this was in Australia though
I’ve waited for this car one and half year to arrive, when it’s -13 cold ev will not kick 😅. It’s a joke for 65k car
The RAV4 Prime is a game changer.
I don't believe any EV/PHEV manufactured outside of the United States is eligible for those tax credits you mentioned. As far as I'm aware, no eligible Toyotas are made in the US
Toyota has a lease program offering $6500 incentives, after making the first lease payment, just buy out the remaining lease. In brief, you are getting the RAV4 prime at the price of RAV4 Hybrid.
@@erickchang2709that’s what I’m doing lol
Thank you for pointing out everyday features like rubber lined storage. That's really important. The engine details are on the website and that seems to me the main focus of most reviews. You can't read about all the little everyday comfort details so I think it's really important to include those in a video.
and the good thing is, if you want one you must not wait a few month to get one 👍
I've been waiting 6 months now. But don't feel too bad, I still have my 2020 XSE hybrid which I'll be trading in & it still runs just like new.
Do we want this or CX90 we want best mpg
The CX-90 is a MUCH larger vehicle. A comparable vehicle to the RAV-4 is the CX-5 or CX-50.
@@edhcb9359 looking for hybrid
Cx90 range is trash compared to a prime and normal RAV4 hybrid
@@Vintage27 Have you driven the Ravv4? It’s like a refrigerator going down the road.

When the doors are locked, the PHEV door will also be locked
That's good to know........ I was worried for a second! lol
@@henryhonda8408Yeah can you imagine? Some intruder randomly opens the charging cover just to add more charge to your car.
You can set the door and the plug whether you want them to lock or not.
The best RAV4, love it, good informative helpful review!!!
TY! BTW Full size spare looks doughnut-ish IMHO
Correct. It's a doughnut, but that's better than the Outlander PHEV I had with no spare.
It’s not an CVT it’s the electric motors simulating a cvt 😂
It's an eCVT which is a Planetary Gear Set with no chains or any belts whatsoever........ very simple & reliable. Check out WeberAuto here on UA-cam as they have all kinds of videos explaining the eCVT.
Auto tempest always shows only 3 available for any car lol
Unfortunately no tax credit. :(
177 bhp from a 2.5 litre petrol. They could have made the ICE aspect of this car so much more powerful.
I would rather they made ICE less powerful with more mpg. This car does not need 302 HP. It needs maybe max 250HP.
It’s more than enough. The car is quick.
When will Toyota heat the steering wheel all the way around???
Many manufacturers don't. Very minor inconvenience.
In Canada hybrid is the best choice the phev is not the solution either all electric car only build for California for enjoying theyre full potential
My 2023 R4P has been excellent for winter driving on the BC coast and for getting to the ski hills. It might not be so great where your winter temperatures get to minus 40.

Can I add engine sound in EV mode. I like to get feedback from the accerator pedal. Thanks
You get just silence in EV mode. If you want engine noise, put it in HV mode.
Shame you don't know the vehicle well enough to present a tutorial
So, you would be in this for way more than the basic hybrid, just because it goes faster and has 40 miles of pure EV range? But, you’d also have the same looking vehicle as about 3 million other RAV4’s out on the road.
To pay over $50k, plus mark up is stupid. Especially when you would have overpaid by so much up front, you won’t see any benefit of that 40 miles of EV range anyway. You’ll also pay more for insurance due to the higher power rating.
It’s a boring vehicle for the money too. Fit and finish with interior is subpar. And you will never co-cooperate the markup you paid.
If you buy any vehicle you will have the same 3 million others.
RAV4 Prime has 600 miles range and extremely comfortable so great for long distance travel. I did 1020 miles in one day with 2 stops for gas. Not that many cars can do that. Definitely not any EV. RAV4 Prime is not boring at all. Fit and finish is one of the best I have ever seen. I had top of the line Infiniti Q45 and QX4 and RAV4 has better fir and finish. You have no idea what you are talking about and you are just jealous prick most likely.
There's no reason to get the XSE over the SE, which costs $43k and doesn't need any add-ons. Even the "base" SE Prime is a far nicer vehicle than the gas-only ones (nicer interior, drives much nicer). There's no markup in New York State. The EV range is as much as 55 miles if the weather's right and you dive normally. Average American drives 42 miles per day, so if you don't take long trips, you might spend almost nothing on gas (some R4P owners have to use "charge mode" to intentionally burn gas that would otherwise spoil).
@@flt528 First of all if you don't do any long distance trips there is no reason to buy RAV4 Prime unless you have no charging capability at all so you have to buy ICE.
RAV4 Prime is for those who do take a few long distance trips a year and have charging capability.
As far as SE vs XSE there is about $2K difference in price. For $2K you get larger 12.3-in. digital gauge cluster which you can't get on SE not even as an option and it is highly customizable. 10.5 inch screen for XSE vs 8 inch for SE. JBL system for XSE with 9 speakers vs Toyota system for SE with 6 speakers. XSE has a subwoofer and tweeters while SE doesn't. I don't know how Toyota system sounds but JBL for sure sounds better. Even better if you replace 7 out of 9 speakers with aftermarket ones. I don't know if SE has an AMP but XSE certainly does and it is a good one. Wireless phone charger on XSE. SE doesn't have it. SE seats are fabric while XSE are Softex. 19 inch wheels on XSE vs 18 on SE. Black roof on XSE. And the biggest thing is that with XSE you can get optional PP while with SE it is not even an option. Probably there are some other things in XSE, SE doesn't have and not available as an option. So in my opinion $2K extra is well worth it. And while you are spending $48K already, $2K is basically only 5% more.
I have the Prime XSE with the premium package and it's worth every penny. I wouldn't have wanted it in any other trim. The Bird's Eye view camera system and HUD are well worth it, along with the front and rear automatic parking sensors and braking. The panoramic roof opens up the interior big time and makes it feel premium, plus the upgraded ventilated seats with better SoftTex covering that's nicer than the XSE without premium package. It's great for car camping with the spacious interior and 1500W outlet. I do all of my daily activities easily on ZEV and never have any range anxiety for my road trips. I'm getting 52 all-electric range on the GoM vs EPA estimated 42.
Fit and finish is slightly better than an American-built Rav4. Didn't pay a markup at all and took advantage of the $6500 lease deal to buy it out for much cheaper. I was going to buy the Lexus NX 450h+ but the Rav4 Prime has way more features and a better overall value. It's a much more useable car than the NX.
@@rrrrrrrr1036 The new Prime is expected to have over 100 miles of pure EV range. I’m going to wait to see how that new generation will look before dropping any decisions.
Too much talking little content. You are not evaluating the vehicle. You are proud you have one. I have one.
Nice, but end of life, insanely overpriced and wait time 1-2 years.
👎🏼
Welcome to the shit list?? What the hell did I ever do to you??
?
Let’s see what we should know
1. It’s overpriced
2. Interior quality is poor when compared to other mainstream brands
3. Materials and fit / finish lag behind the better executed competition
4. Back seats are cramped
5. The engine is noisy
6. It’s way overpriced?
7. Not that good to drive vs a CRV or tuscon or sportage or cx5
8. Did I mention it’s way overpriced?
It's not for you but it sells well for a reason. I'd also love to know what cars, in the segment, have superior fit and finish than a Toyota.
@@hamsterbrigade what brands have superior fit finish in the segment?😂
Where do I begin? Crv, Tuscon, Sportage, cx5, cx50, rogue all have far better quality materials and superior fit / finish than Toyota
