Yo if you’re young enough and not in your 30’s you can quit cold turkey don’t listen to the chump saying it’s dangerous! YES its dangerous to quit cold turkey if your older or if you have heart problems, but trust me I was exactly like the dude with his addictive nature! I quit cold turkey because I had to! I can’t have a drink here and there when I taste that alcohol everything smart about me disappears! I had to change friends that drank and get new ones who didn’t. Still to this day I can’t even go into a place with people drinking it sets off something in me so I leave. Bro wishing him the best!

Facts. You need to be a severe alcoholic to die from withdrawals, like to the point that if you go a few hours with out a drink you start shaking, ect.
I went through a really bad addiction to opiates and everything else that came with that scene. Like you, I had to give up all my friends that partied and did not want to better themselves. I cannot be around other addicts or I will fall down the same hole again. I even changed the type of music I listened to because the music was glorifying addiction and partying.
Usually people have to hit rock bottom to realize they need to give up the habit that got them there. I don't like to see any one suffer from addiction, I hope he gets himself clean and sober.
      Grats on your sobriety man.

@@viracocha03opiate withdrawals are much different from alcohol withdrawals. alcohol withdrawals can cause grand mal seizures that CAN kill you. it is no joke and it doesnt matter how fucking old you are. a grand mal seizure can be deadly regardless of if you are young or old. opiate withdrawals are miserable but they DO NOT cause seizures like withdrawals from alcohol or benzos.

Homie needs support and honestly a healthy addiction. Gym, skating, even gaming is better than drowning in alcohol. My family deals with that heavily and it's hard to watch someone kill themselves. I also know how hard it is to quit, its the the biggest battle you will ever have in your lifetime. Don't crush him for messing up or relapsing, just encourage him to stay on that good path. I speak from the perspective of someone who has experienced the opposite. People I love are no longer here and that is partially because they did not receive the support they needed.

Bro needs to stop hangin out with the people who help feed his addiction. You MUST give up those people along with the substance and that can be the hardest part.
I went through severe addiction between 25 and 32 and giving up my "friends" was the hardest part but what I realized after I got clean was that most of the people I called friends where NOT my friends and wanted nothing to do with helping me get sober. I lost EVERYTING I had in my life besides my actual life and I almost lost that and those so called friends where along for the whole ride. Some of them are now dead, some got sober and some are still in the dark depths of addiction..
Speaking to other recovered addicts really helps, I went to AA for a full year 2 times a week and that was a huge help. Some people stick with AA or NA their entire life but for me it was a stepping stone to sobriety and I thank every one that was part of it who helped me on my journey. Picking up new hobbies is also helpful, going to the gym or simply running daily. Anything to replace the time you spend using a substance with something constructive.
He will not die from quitting cold turkey, yes it can happen but only in the most severe cases of alcoholism. If he wakes up and has a drink just to feel normal or get the shakes after a few hour with no booze then he may want to look into speaking to a doctor because there are medications to help but in 99% of cases people can just stop, they may feel shitty for a few days but we all go through that when we get clean.
I hope he truly wants sobriety because that is what it takes, it takes determination and dedication. It is hard because it requires total lifestyle change and most times it takes hitting absolute rock bottom for an addict to want to make the changes necessary.
I hate seeing people suffer through addiction and have worked with recovering addicts since my journey from addiction to a sober life and wish him nothing but the best. IT can be a long and rough road but it is worth every fucking second of it to beat finally put those demons to bed.

Not sure how much he is drinking or how often but he should possibly look into checking out an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Even if he isn't an "Alcoholic" this could be the beginning stages of it. I think if Danny went to an AA meeting or two it would be a hug eye opener. Hope Danny can get it right!

AA won’t help this kid, he’ll hear God and pray and be then turn back to drinking cuz nobody believes in that fairy tale shit anymore AA is so dumb it only helps you if you’re willing to believe in god therefore doesn’t help very many people
