Bruh this gives you so many more feels than the island. It just always feels like you've accomplished something big and that you're ready to transition into the next dangers.
The strongest part about ARK is how well the gameplay and maps tie into its setting. When you ascended off the island a lot of exposition was dumped on you about the world and the arks and it was a grand, enlightening event. Abberation is one of the most treacherous ARKs because its literally in disarray, youre surviving a destitute and mutilated ecosystem. When you ascend off Aberration, it feels like all the pieces are in place, the focus isnt on the origin of the ARKs and the state of the world, its on your strength and development as a survivor, and its capped off with you escaping to earth on a jerry rigged portal made by the people who came before you. Its a very triumphant conclusion to the rising action of ARK.
100th thumbs up, and it really is since it's basically the last teleportation scene in the game. The rest are just looking at something after beating the boss.

This is def my fave ascenion cut scene by far, with Extinction being a SUPER close second! Gosh, I remember seeing this for the first time and just being in AWE! Still am! Love this game so much!
I love this ascension partly because it's absolutely beautiful in both visuals and audio, but I also love what it shows. You fly back through the entire dangerous, deadly, absolutely insane ARK you just conquered, but this time, you're protected in that stream that pulls you forward. You don't need hazmat gear, or wingsuits, or anything at all. You were born on Earth with nothing sometime in the past, and you'll take nothing with you when you return. You're returning to Earth, and the ARK knows it. Nothing here can hurt you now; you've ascended beyond such things. The ARK allows you a moment to breathe and just... take everything in, one last time before shipping you off to the most deadly place you've ever been.
aberration was the best map imo, you play them completely different from all the others and i never felt safe while roaming arround those obscure caves
Aberration is easily my favorite map and this ending is one of the best ones if not the best. Aberration has always been the best to me and it will remain that way for a long time atleast until Ark II come out it may be better but I’ll have to find out
My 2 buddies and i just beat this map. After the boss, alot of our tames were bloodied, but we all lived. We decided, as a send off, to force every one of our tames to sleep, and then hit the hay ourselves, and say goodbye to the map..or at least that save. Despite this games MANY flaws, i still love it. Idk why this map meant so much to me, but it was just nice to explore and overcome its challenges. Onto Extinction!
As brilliant as it seems, The beauty of ark is it being a unique experience for each of us. To some of us it means lurking in the shadows, scavenging the land while it is dark, to others it mean conquest and domination, to others wild bizarre experiences with random bobs. One movie cannot satisfy the ark experience.
I know this wasn't intentional, but I like how you put giga in 00:22 like it gaze to the scenery above him, started questioning the reality around him and once again having a self conscious.
God I wish I bought abberation instead of extinction, all the stuff like reapers or element rivers is so scary but amazing at the same time, abberation has so many unique things from what I know, i wish I could refund for extinction and use the money for abberation

Imo the Ab ascension is the most visibly stunning ascension and it does provide some context as to the ARK itself which is cool

That Extinction cutscene looks nothing like the extinction we have. It has lava so it's probably years before we arrived in it. Maybe...?
It was actually one of the first concepts of Extinction. That's why you can see so much red, and no purple at all :)
In cutscene you arrive to the sunken forest before it becomes sunken if you look closely
