@@dimsunk awesome! I'll tell my mates to join, your drumming has changed my life Im so thankful for your videos. Just being unemployed currently means I can't be splurging too much cash 😭
Sorry I must of missed It I see it now, I love this beat though super groovy
I haven’t touched my drums in almost a decade, but this video made me realize why I played. I’m gonna start it up again. I gotta.
Love your drumming. Very tasteful.
Max ! this is awesome. thanks
what cymbals you use???
Check in the info section :)
I've only just discovered your channel. I can't play but it is really great to watch someone play who doesn't show off and just gets on with it. The most genuine teacher so far.
Maestro Sansalone, You have a pocket like a kangaroo. Absolutely brilliant. The kick drum sound just sings. Your feel is breathtaking.
Much Appreciated !
I'm a guitarist, but now I feel like taking up the drums. So well explained :-)
Thx !
Same! Haha
I've been drumming since 1990, I could never be a good guitar player. Too many things to remember lol
I wish i could find the time and the money ,to play and work on the drums. The drums is a fascinating
instrument##
I was a guitar player from 6 to 24 since i buy an electronic drum and took few lessons ... I'm 30 now and i've never picked up the guitar for more than 15 minutes straight since xD xD xD xD
Such an inspiration, I feel like you really prove that anything is possible on the drum set.
That snare sounds KILLER! Amazing video, Max. Thanks!
Ludwig LM400!
@@bonzomio you sure?
Clayton Mcminn ...Looks and sounds like an LM400 to me. Own one myself. Maybe Max can weigh in.
Hey guys, yes, it is an LM400 Supraphonic
Henwy2
Love it!
you can teach the notes, but damn, the feeling you give it is a whole other thing, great lesson!
Thx!
Fantastic! Thanks for slowing it down and explaining it so clearly! You are a great teacher!
I love how 99% of the beats r just kick snare n hihat
So much feel gee
That’s how you teach, breaking the components into segments, adding each portion together as it’s progressed to actual grove...
How can you not love Max with what he brings to the table and his creativity?!?!
Every musician looks for a drummer like you. I'm not a drummer, but I watch your videos because of the inspiring pocket.
Max I am extremely grateful that you took the time to break that epic groove down. Simply Incredible !
Thank you so much. This is such an amazing groove. Your attention to the subtle details is what makes it an incredible drum lesson.
Thank you for making this awesome breakdown for us ❤ i absolutely Love this beat.
Thankyou for this ,you really have a great ability for slowly and clearly teaching ,as well as playing beautifully . Great stuff 😂😂 Thankyou.
I love how the bass drum obliterates the damn little camera, each fucking time. SUPER NICE GROOOOOOVES. Been following you since 2010 !!!
OMG, how did I take so long to stumble over your work, friend? Definitely my loss but now my gain. It is obvious you are a gifted percussionist but you are an equally talented teacher. Thank you kindly for creating these pieces and sharing your gifts. If you ever wake up feeling unsure of your life choices or question your talent, please take it from a humble old civilian across the Atlantic......you need not question either. Take care, friend and thank you.
thank you!
You didn't research deep enough ! I knew about him in 2010 and I had a crazy full time job.
Great lesson!
As Bernard Purdie said "Don't worry bout those ghost notes, they ain't nothin but REBOUNDS".
Muchas gracias ...excelente explicación 👍
That sounds a little like Narada Michael Walden on Jeff Beck's Come Dancing
Ha! His sticks look like mine (getting thinner and thinner)..... until they actually break I'm gonna use them!
I'm trying to figure out the kick pattern from 0:59-1:22 it would be great to see it written out. Anyone? Thanks in advance
Anyone?
This guy is so likeable.. God bless you
even the slowed down beat at 2:13, he's moving his head to the beats with such consistency and feel. you know that the connection between his dancing body and the sounds are a big part of what makes his groove monstrous. bravo!
This is so awesome. Thank you for the lecttion i will train that beat fronm now on, please make more lettions on funkey beats like this one ,love it !
I can't seem to keep it all together on the second bar, the pattern confuses my brain and I completely change the strikes
Nice one! Thanks for sharing. I started my own channel few months ago and came across yours. Just subbed
For anyone that wants it, here's some sheet music: docs.google.com/document/d/1SFZ-1Db-bOdgfif20ce7aEYwNmGgYfvWIqzen_YzTS8/edit?usp=sharing
i always like your videos even before watching them, I know what is comming...top quality.
Who of you drummers is watching and enjoying this fabulous groove again ? Keep m dancing!
Thx Bob!
I had no idea Joe Satriani played drums!!!!
Cool stuff. Very helpfull. Thx. Which drum heads you use? The sound of the kit is great. Christoph
Thx! Aquarian Modern Vintage on this kit
Beautifully done. Thank you very much!
Many thanks!
Good lesson , sounds a lot like Jeff porcarro’s groove he played on I keep forgetting by Michael McDonald , love this thank you
Thx!
I've waited almost a decade for this. Watching since 2009!
nailed it...I might have to dig my bass out and jam along in a minute
Killer sound. Reminds me of the old days of Mike Clarke.
JESUS CHRIST Loves y'all
Inspirational dude. Good stuff.
Loved this tutorial, answered all my questions. Thank you Max!
this guy is the best yt drummer of this era
damn straight
So well explained! Thanks a lot. Merry Christmas.
Happy holidays!
Thanks a million! This lesson was what I needed to finally buy a drumset and put the hours in. Such a sick and fun beat.
Question :) If you were to play more house beat tempo (120-125) would you consider playing this same type of beat and just use triple strokes or something?
THX! For house beats , play four on the floor on the kick and hihats open on the upbeats :)
So funky his hair fell off
One punch man
It needed to dance
idiotic comment, what if it was due to a chemotherapy, yeah thats funky too, isn't it
@@thesaint7380 chill out my guy it was a joke lol
TheSaint it wasn’t because he has bits of hair left on the sides yeah you just got phunked that’s funk with a ph deal wiv it
Adding sheet music on screen would really help 😁
I love this style of tutorial. Prioritizing small steps that you can see real progress on immediately and take your time as needed. I spent like 3 whole days on just training my muscle memory for that hihat pattern because I realized I couldn't play 1-34 hat while focusing on the kick drum. Wonderful teaching style
You sound increddible, I like your swing feel beteen triplets and 16ths. Great video!
Thanks so much!
Love the way you break it down, getting the mechanics/movements in place. As always: good sound and feel. Thx.
Have you got this on sheet by chance?
Unfortunately no :) But I'll do it soon :)
Thank you! I only hoped this good of an explanation would follow that killer solo. Now I can get it 100% right. Funky!
Awesome thank you sir!
This man has 'groove' written all over the place. Totally love his style.
That’s a great lesson! I’m gonna start working that one up. I like your method of instruction.
Glad it was helpful!
this beat is so juicy i just took a bite out of it
Two thumbs up 👍 👍!
4:20 anyone else hearing “regulate“ by Nate Dogg and Warren G? And yes I intentionally did the timestamp at “4:20” 😎
Yeah similar beat. That song is based on g funk so it has a root in funk.
Спасибо)
The real Pudding of this sweet rhythm is in the subtle details, and, dang, buddy, you deliver them details in a way that is nothing short of masterfully!
Many thanks for this lesson, if ONLY for now making me want to practice more ;)
Cheers
Better look with the shaved head.
Thank you! Great information, the ghost notes make it so much more funky.
Whoa! Your last name! Do you know how important it is to the art of rudimental drumming?
Ryan Cox yes I sure do! I have Frank Arsenault’s LP. The man was a machine. Just incredible.
Easy English and awesome drumming. Thank you for posting
Glad you liked it!
I'm just not ready
Is this for intermediate drummers ? I'm struggling. Too to fast
Play it really slow till you get comfortable ... forget about the speed .... you'll get it :)
Man you’re super smooth!
Showing how to create a pocket as well !!! 👍👍👍👍👍
He looks like Joe Satriani.
Nice sound, feel, tech and explanaiton
Now that’s how you teach the funky beat... many thanks!
The main groove looks a lot like I Keep Forgetting by Michael McDonald
I can definitely see that. Good call
Interesting interpretation. To me, it looks like a sexy blonde wearing a bikini and cooking me pancakes in an attempt to get me to snuggle. But to each their own.
boss level. Thanks bro!
So are those just triplets on the high hat on the 2nd beat? Im really struggling hitting the hi hat 3 times while doing anything lol
they are 3 1/16 notes :)
You make it look so easy hahaha,Awesome stuff....Skillz
Thanks 👍
i’m pretty late, but what sticks are you using?
Peter Erskine Ride stick
Excellent lesson!
Downright delicious grooves....lovely to hear your voice, too! Xx
Great explanation of a fantastic groove 👌🥁

Clear teaching,Great breakdown and Funky as it gets. You’ve really got some Flavour Brother,
Nice one.
you look very proud at the emd... you should be..... you are great
Thx!
So impressive. That’s a delicious beat.
I’m showing this to my ten year old son who’s building his little groove library on the kit. I’m looking forward to playing bass while he bops something like this!
Thank you from Aotearoa New Zealand! ☀️🌱💜
Thanks so much Max.
Awesome lesson sir!
Thank you so much!!!
Looks 20 years younger since he shaved his head
If I sent you a song. Could you lay some drums down? How can I do that?
Sure, contact me at maxsansalone@gmail.com and we'll discuss it.
Genioooo, saludos desde Uruguay!!
Thanks for the breakdown, Max. Practicing this tonight!
When he started playing I was waiting for the opening notes for high and dry by Radiohead
Nice explanation *
