Students move in pods so they are only exposed to the other students in their classes, the teachers have similar seating charts so students are close to the same students throughout the day. The class release is staggered and there are no lockers this year. Teachers clean the desks between class periods with a specific disinfectant. Masks are required for teachers, students, and staff unless you're able to properly social distance (which no classroom has the space to do that). Water fountains are closed except the part that pours into a water bottle and the school is providing water bottles. The cafeteria is spread out so there are half the students there at a time. We made a PowerPoint this year called "Pandemic Procedures" that most of the teachers shared with their students on the first day. I filmed the first day of school (this past Friday) and will share all of this in more detail. Thank you for your good wishes 🙂
@@MsParkerSmith My school is doing something similar, I hope it's working out well for y'all! I'm a first year teacher, so this is all really overwhelming haha
I love when teachers decorate their classrooms like this, when the classroom is blinding me with all the colors I can never focus because I’m always looking at something else.
I love watching these videos. I taught Math for 40 years and am now retired and miss it terribly. Started in 7th and 8th grade, ultimately ended my career teaching Honors Algebra and Geometry. I'm going to enjoy following your progress.
I recommend getting magnetic whiteboard borders. You can move them around and they don't leave any sticky residue. I highly recommend and there are some cute patterns.
@@MsParkerSmith Kinda, I purchased the better than paper white wood bulletin board paper, and im going for a boho-ish theme.Hopefully it looks good. LOL!
I wish I would have had a teacher like you. All the teachers when I was school age were all boring / run down or down right scary looking (apart from two of them). One of them I met about 20 years later and found out that she was (when teaching) a new teacher but she got pregnant so left teaching (met her kid even). The second teacher appeared to be new and he was a darn good teacher (dare I say the best in the school) . He taught grade 6. School was different back then as kids respected their teachers (most of the time) and there was discipline and no cell phones to distract the kids. I hope you keep your optimism as it is easy to lose after years of teaching.
Thank you so much!! I love editing videos 😀 and my room looks a bit different from here because I had to make changes, but it’s finally coming together!
Aww, so sweet!!! I just watched your first video and I can't believe it's your FIRST VIDEO?! It's so well made!!! And I definitely relate to going from corporate to education. I'm rooting for you!!!
I like the way you set your classroom. Also, I checked out two of your outfit video and like all of the selection choices. Do you have any ballet flats or slip-on loafers for your next outfit haul?
Thank you!! I actually just bought some slip on loafers this past week and I'm currently filming a first week of school outfits video and maybe I'll wear them one day :)
I LOVE your videos! One of my favorite teacher youtubers by far! Your editing style is amazing and it makes me so excited for my upcoming year of student teaching in middle school☺️. Thank you for your videos!
Just found you & YUP I already love you 😂 I'm a HS Media Arts teacher but I'm going to be transitioning into MS Math. Omg just watching this makes me miss the spirit of decorating a classroom. I cannot wait for next school year to really knock it out the park!
I thought about it! But once I had all of the desks set up I realized that I was only taking away one student desk and even if I downsized I would still have to take a student desk 😕
Thrift store, Facebook marketplace, and free curb stuff is the best way to go for classroom goodies! My current teacher chair was a facebook find for only $60! Its a beautiful tan leather that costs $300 originally. You can see it in my videos, but a serious steal for being a teacher on a budget!
