commitment issues...can relate lol. I too have become keenly interested in "fixing" my space to make it more functional/customized to my way of life. Recently invested in some IKEA pegboards and storage baskets to convert half of a large closet into a music storage zone with all my guitars and recording equipment. I like that I can conceal all the gear when not in use but open it up when the creative mood strikes. Its like I'm stepping into another world when the space is exposed. Overall, I have found that less is indeed more and that taking time to organize pays off greatly in many ways. Having a well organized space also seems to calm my otherwise hectic thoughts and places me in better frame of mind to manage all of my daily tasks as well as creative projects. I even added a special area with a standing credenza dedicated to morning prayer and scripture readings. Amazing how simple changes can have such a huge impact in one's daily life.

Hey man, love the setup. Just a quick heads up if you happen to make a mistake in the future: if you drill a hole you didn't want, you can always use wood putty (specifically 2-part wood putty that self hardens) to patch it up. It'll harden into something pretty wood-like that you can treat the same as wood in terms of sanding, staining, drilling, etc.
Yes! I'm 100% down for more home improvement stuff. I feel like the a lot of us are falling deep into that hobby these days and would love the inspiration. Amazing work as always.

When putting up shelves that will support a lot of weight don't use stainless steel screws! These will snap if the force becomes too much, normal screws will bend first giving you time to notice the flaw
Very nice! Only one suggestion ... based on the heights of your shelves and the light weight of the things you're currently placing on them, I'd install the brackets "upside down", on the tops of the shelves rather than underneath. This way you get a much cleaner look from below. You'd have to deal with the brackets when placing your stuff on the shelves, but you could do it in a way that hides the brackets a bit too. (If you go the heavy book route as you mentioned, and still want to use those same brackets, you could use carriage bolts and nuts so you're not relying solely on the screw threads to support the weight)
I'm following you on Pinterest and see that you're very interested in this kind of projects. So here we are with a beautiful DIY. Thanks for share with us!! I'm from Brazil and enjoy a lot your videos.

Matthew, just to say ive really enjoyed watching your DIY projects. Very nice to see the efforts you going to to get that refined pro finish. Just one thing - I think you maybe missing a trick on your shelving which is using regular metal angle wall brackets which in themselves have a certain amount of volume. If you wanted to make this a cleaner image giving the illusion of floating shelves have you considered the idea of using an 'L' brace system? Your shelf joins into an upstand made of the same wood that then attaches to the wall. Ive done this using dry wall anchors and its a really nice clean, high end and affordable finish. If not no worries, just a mention as your workspace is so well planned that this would definitely compliment that style.
Yes it was a consideration. But I went heavier duty, cause I assumed I might put very heavy books up there (didn’t turn out that way though)! Could’ve done light weight.
@@MatthewEncina Yeah, completely understand. I researched it a lot but still, when I came to do it there was the voice in the back of my mind that said'' there's is no way the wall will take this weight'':). But ive got to say it did.
