@@saloras9500 well, there is a FUNNY EXCEPTION: WATCH on YT the 1980 (?) VIDEOS of DIO freshly in Sabbath... and notice how he's singing REALLY WEIRD --- I think he was overcompensating to try and sound "heavier" to win over Ozzy fans who were resistant at the time!
Dio fans: Dio songs are getting old... Dio records Dehumanizer with Sabbath and uses the new style on his solo band Also Dio fans: This is strange... Strange Highways I love that album. It's out of the comfort zone for Dio and it shows how Dio liked to be part of the Dehumanizer album
@leandrolemos8689 buddy, I love both The Humanizer and Strange Highways but, compare Tracy G with the Lord of the riffs is nonsense! That album isnt a massive sucess because the robot machine sound of Tracy's guitar!!!
No!!! I SAY this is as GREAT as ANYTHING he EVER DID!!!!!! Saw him on Holy Diver and EVERY tour SINCE at least twice!!!!!!!!! This AND Lock up the Wolves!!!!!!
What I like about guitarist Tracy G. here is the way he alternates between (1) super heavy riffing reminiscent of Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi and (2) innovative, almost jazz-like complexity.
Strange Highways is such a great album. Top-3 favorite by Dio for me. Love its dark and ultra heavy sound. Tracy G. was a great guitarist in my opinion, almost like he was taking Iommi's sound and playing it with Viv Campbell's energy and style. Dare I say that I also like this album more than Dehumanizer? They sound like sibling records, but I find this being slightly better.
No way is S.H. better than Dehumanizer. Dehumanizer other than Time Machine had no filler and was heavier and overall better written. Computer God, Master Of Insanity, Letters From Earth, I....S.H doesn't have such tracks, but its really good
@@Annihilation_0f_The_Wicked9066 I'll give Dehumanizer an upper hand for stronger consistency, as SH starts off kind of weak with "Jesus..." and "Firehead". But from the title-track onwards I think it's just a banger record. That's usually how I listen to it; skip the first two tracks and let the title-track open it (I wonder why they didn't let it open the album as it works perfectly). It's a non-stop banger that way. While it's a cool album, Dehumanizer is just far from my fave Sabbath album and my least fave Sab with RJD. Personally I just find meself listening to SH a whole lot more (quite regularly), whereas I barely ever revisit Dehumanizer. While RJD is my all-time fave singer, I do like Sabbath with Ozzy the best, then with Tony Martin second. Dio the band is a top-10 to me, so when I wanna hear RJD I usually just put Dio on (1983-1993 era). To each their own, of course.
O maior!
I can't find a better sounding live performance from Dio on UA-cam. Strange highways the best!! If anyone has a suggestion please tell. Long live rock n roll 🤘
How can so much power come from this rock metal Elvin king? I 1st saw Ronnie Dio when he sang wth Rainbow up in Newcastle on Tyne, UK and was surprised by how tiny he was but hells fucking bells, when he opened his mouth to sing, his god damned head hit the venue ceiling! Simply classic, brilliant
henkiehengst indeed Tracy G's guitar really was huge sounding and sinister, very dark. That's the type of sound I think Dio and the band was going for.

My fav dio album,.. huge fan of the early lineup too but dio evolved perfectly with this heaviest of all dio albums. Tracy is a super cool dude.. hes not viv campbel, doesnt play vivs solos but in my opinion... its what i like about TG. Still around too...
Anyone who thinks Tracy G is a hack knows nothing of song structure, tone or feeling. Tracy could shred most of you right out of your diapers! He knows his fretboard like you know your way home. How many of you could start a note on a bend at the 16th fret and have any idea what going on? Few I bet. When Dio choses a guitarist to be his gunslinger for as many years as he had Tracy G, I’ll happily take his opinion over your any day!

A departure from the melodic metal I love by Dio. However, at least he was willing to take risks. Several classic metal acts changed their direction and sound owing to the onset of grunge.

Holy Diver, LIL, then Strange Highways for me
