I was on my lunch break at work and I decided to sit in my car listen to the radio and eat my lunch. All of a sudden they announced that Ronnie James Dio had passed away. I just sat there and cried and I thought about the first time I saw him live. It was October 1983 San Antonio, Texas at the Convention Center Arena with special guest Y&T. It was a very sad day for me and when I watch his videos I still get a little choked up
Thank you Doug for playing it at the right tempo!!!! Every single live Blackmore version I've ever seen has been so fast, it ruins the stately vibe of this classic song.
To each their own. My introduction to MOTSM was the live version for Rainbow's Finyl Vinyl. When I heard the original studio version many years later, I found it slow and plodding.
He'll always be the man on the silver mountain, on whose summit is the Temple of the King. I have listened his songs since I was a teenager in Cuba, and even in lands of freedom I continue to do so. RIP Ronnie James Dio 🤘
The greatest live version of this great Rainbow tune, IMHO. The late, great RJD (with an awesome band!) slows it down, lets it breathe, and shows off his incredible vocal chops. WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED ?
Was blessed to see a true artist in Ronnie as Dio -Holy Diver Tour & Rainbow back in the 80's. RIP Ronnie as we remember him on the Anniversary of his passing on May 16th , 2010 Gone to soon , never to be forgotten, Rock On Dio Fans!

In 1975, I was 23 years old. The day this song got it's first play on WNEW-FM Radio, NYC, I got into my car, drove the the record store, and bought the album. God, I'm so glad I was born in 1952.
I’ve actually got some back story to that... Dio used to do this song live as part of a medley with faster tempo and Richie Blackmore asked him to stop. He said play it right or not at all. Saw Dio in Vegas in 2001 and Richie was a guest and they did MOASM and Child In Time, originally sang by Gillan. No other singer on the planet could have pulled that off. Ever since Dio played MOASM in its original form.
Temper Thurman That's cool to know, Im glad Ritchie spoke up ,I personally think a song of that caliber should be played at the tempo it was written, it lets the true character of the riff stand out.
@@neojournalyst - Sorry, not buying it. Rainbow played it at the faster tempo way back in 1976 & 1977 on the Rising and Long Live Rock and Roll tours. Blackmore himself went for the faster tempo. Watch the live videos of Rainbow in the 70's. The song is played at the same tempo Dio played it with in the 80's.
Erik Rupp What Blackmore didn’t like was that the song was reduced to a medley. On Dio’s live album “ Inferno” The song was reduced to a medley. DO told metal edge magazine that Richie Blackmore did not like it. He asked DO to play the song in its entire ready or not at all. Not so much the tempo. Buy it or don’t buy it, who gives a shit? What do you think is meaningless.
I ADORE the guitar enhancement, bringing that background guitar coming into the chorus is IN FRONT in this live performance and they got the tempo right!! 🤘

One of the BEST live performances I have seen wow. We have no music like this now.
The cleanest live performance I ever heard of MOSM. Lead guitar GROOVED!
Yeah, your right.the tempo is were it should be.
Dough is a good guitar player
I was on my lunch break at work and I decided to sit in my car listen to the radio and eat my lunch. All of a sudden they announced that Ronnie James Dio had passed away. I just sat there and cried and I thought about the first time I saw him live. It was October 1983 San Antonio, Texas at the Convention Center Arena with special guest Y&T. It was a very sad day for me and when I watch his videos I still get a little choked up
Aldrich is an absolute BEAST!!!
Thank you Doug for playing it at the right tempo!!!! Every single live Blackmore version I've ever seen has been so fast, it ruins the stately vibe of this classic song.
Yeah, Doug plays it a lot better than Blackmore, Blackmore is washed up.
To each their own. My introduction to MOTSM was the live version for Rainbow's Finyl Vinyl. When I heard the original studio version many years later, I found it slow and plodding.
He couldn't hold Blackmore's nut sack
@@markandersen793 I've seen Ritchie play it live with all rainbow line ups . His live version in Chicago with jlt and Ronnie blew this off the stage
i hate when bands speed up some songs i never heard desert plains from priest played at the proper tempo back around 81-82
He'll always be the man on the silver mountain, on whose summit is the Temple of the King. I have listened his songs since I was a teenager in Cuba, and even in lands of freedom I continue to do so. RIP Ronnie James Dio 🤘
Dio is the man, and always had the greatest of musicians behind him.
A force of nature, one of the best vocalists ever
I'm going to buy this DVD. My God, this man's voice brings tears to my eyes.
+Stephanie Torres when youve done that, buy the cd Rainbow - Rising. Its his masterpiece.
Chris Pontin how did u know that she didn't have the album, or even listened to
Yeah, do it...........and take the Chris Pontin advice, get Rising Album..........
Agree with you Stephanie!
I have this it's brilliant.
He is 🤘 Dio🤘 the Grandest Of Wizards, 🌈🌎🌕😎
The greatest live version of this great Rainbow tune, IMHO. The late, great RJD (with an awesome band!) slows it down, lets it breathe, and shows off his incredible vocal chops. WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED ?
Was blessed to see a true artist in Ronnie as Dio -Holy Diver Tour & Rainbow back in the 80's. RIP Ronnie as we remember him on the Anniversary of his passing on May 16th , 2010 Gone to soon , never to be forgotten, Rock On Dio Fans!
Gute Reisen DIO❤
I'm sorry but we have this to sing and remember.
Best live version I’ve heard! Right speed, Rudy Sarzo shredding that bass, so sick
Didn't Rudy Sarzo play with Ozzy and Randy Rhodes for a minute???
@@martymendoza8943 I believe he has played in every single significant band on the planet since 1967. I could be wrong.

No one compares to Ronnie James Dio. You are the Rainbow and the Man on that Silver Mountain, looking down on your disciples.
There will never be another Ronnie James Dio WOW he can sure sing. I say can because he still lives on with his fantastic music❤
Girls save the world
Nurses save the world
DIOBLUE is huge , elf fan lol 😆💙😂🤣
El padre del heavy metal! Espectacular!! Ronnie descansa en paz!!
His voice so amazing.. powerful and full of soul..
And now I know how to sing a metal/rock song ..
Thanks Dio..
Opino igual!! Genios totales!!
In 1975, I was 23 years old. The day this song got it's first play on WNEW-FM Radio, NYC, I got into my car, drove the the record store, and bought the album. God, I'm so glad I was born in 1952.
Always loved this tune. Ronnie James dio REST IN PEACE, YOUR AMONG THE GREATS.
Finally a live version of this song played at the right speed. AWESOME !!!!
I prefer it played a little faster. It's a killer song when it's played more uptempo. Of course, it's a great song either way...
Put your Horns up for the greatest metal singer of all time!! Truly one of a kind.
Great Dio. The man on the silver mountain. Eternal legend. 🤘
Anyone Still loving Ronnie in 2024?
❤👍
This is artistry on a different level altogether. The feel and groove he acquired in his later ages is a thing of beauty. RIP Ronnie!
DIO was a greatest rock voice of a century. R.I.P him!
Dio was the metal master--sorely missed--can't be replaced.
Hands down Ronnie was the best voice in metal
I love the way this rendition came a little slower and more comprehensible...
This little man had such a big voice 😍😍😍
Earth lost this fantastic voice but he will rock on whereever he is 😘🤘🤘🤘😘
DIO is my absolute Favourite artist of all time, RIP the Legend.
Thanks so much for all your support throughout all the years, Ms D! It's been a helluva ride!...
That guitar tone is just badass and "the voice" is second to none in the world of metal music!!!
I ADORE the guitar enhancement, bringing that background guitar coming into the chorus is IN FRONT in this live performance and they got the tempo right!! 🤘
OMG!! Ronnie Dio was one of God's true champions! I had the pleasure of meeting him years ago when Rainbow was in Australia on the Gold Coast! What a true gentleman! He will be sadly missed!
Sep 26th 2019..here
Met him many years ago and bought him a beer, kept it simple and quick with much love.
Doug Aldridge is a machine and one of the best guitarists playing today the pairing of Aldridge and Dio a perfect match !
Thanks was wondering who it was
Saw Dio many times with a lot of different guitarist but not this dude
Gonna haffa look him up
Dead Dasies
Still magic, Man on the Silver Mountain, spoke to me at 16 and still does. 👍👏👏👏👏
You're spirit is lifted! Rock on that silver Mountain!! You rose too soon, but a legacy remains.
