Nothing beats “ tea with Miss McGill” Youngblood is a classic and was on repeat when I was a teenager in the 80’s. The William Orbit music is top notch
Thanks for the recommendations. This time I picked up (1) Misery, (2) Nostalghia and (3) The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - all in 4KUHD/Blu Ray combo. While on the B&N website, I noticed that Criterion 50% off Sale is also going on at B&N.
I just started collecting this year and am surprised how much I’m getting from B&N. They’ve become the go to for me when it comes to the Criterion collection in particular. I live in Raleigh, North Carolina and the B&N stores around here only seem to have very few Kino Lorber titles so it looks like browsing will be largely online for me.
I’ve been in quite a few B&N stores during my trips to the US and never come out empty handed! It’s a shame your local doesn’t have the biggest selection but at least there’s the online option for you. Cheers!
Cowboys and Aliens didn't receive HDR as it was a difficult transfer due to how it was filmed. It was either no HDR or no release. Frank Tarzi, head of Kino, discussed this on the Kino Lorber Shelf Space UA-cam video. Highly recommend shelf space episodes.
Plenty received mixed reviews but I really like it. It has the amazing Charles Dance in a lead role and smaller parts for Tracey Ullman, Sir John Gielgud and Ian McKellen. It is one of her movies that no one talks about
I watched Cry-Baby for the first time last year in a cinema and it was the coolest movie ever. I was buzzing for days! A lot of movies ideia of coolness is just really cringe and toxic, but in this one, it’s so effortless. Even the “squares” had a great vibe. John Waters really knows how to show freaks in their best light and you really wish you were there. I had to buy the 4k when I saw there was one! Also got Brokeback Mountain which is one of my favourites ever 🥰
Big fan here of your videos. Longtime watcher. But I do wish you would not shake the discs/packages so much. On gets cross-eyed trying to inspect the disc while it's in motion! Many thanks for keeping us up to date with sale info... and your presentation of so many lesser-known titles. Great work!
Are you familiar with French film director Patrice Leconte? He has 6 or 7 titles available on Kino Lorber. I highly recommend him. He's a director I feel doesnt get talked about as much as he should
@@ElliotCoen Had to double dip on a 4K upgrade for one of my favorites: The Killing (1956) But others include: • Cry-Baby • The Train • 3 Days of the Condor • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari • Thunderbolt and Lightfoot • Brokeback Mountain • Out of Sight And then a trio of Sidney Lumet films: • Serpico • Murder on the Orient Express • Garbo Talks

Youngblood is amazing! I didn’t know it was available through KL. Thanks for the video!
Did you hear about the Criterion UK 40% off sale in November? Definitely better than the last sale we got!
@@reubenward330 I did, sounds interesting!
I just randomly went onto HMV's website and saw the discount banner, couldn't believe it. I picked up After Hours and Blow Out on 4k.

Thanks for heads up. Just checked half dozen 4k titles on Amazon (US), and half off sale prices are matching the KL Barnes Noble sale.

Does anyone know where he got those shelves? 🤩🤩
Young blood is great and a surprise to me being given special treatment.. There are quite a few you showed that I definitely want.
I remember seeing that carpet somewhere
@@Mandibil 😁
My pickups were In Bruges 4K and Andrei Tarkovsky’s Nostalghia on 4K 🙏🏼
I still need to get Nostalghia on 4K at some point!
I just picked up Monster Squad this go around as I’m saving for some other sales
So many sales!
Waiting for 4 k of any Theresa Russell!
Can't order to the UK tho?

What does that mean?

I’m intrigued! I’ll be watching it soon. Cheers!
Brokeback Mountain looks fantastic, but my favourite Ang Lee film (The Ice Storm) has a very poor transfer from criterion and needs a new restoration!
The Ice Storm is great. I wonder if there are any plans for a restoration. Fingers crossed 🤞
I concur .. I’m holding out that Criterion upgrade The Ice Storm to 4K
Gosh, I saw Youngblood in the cinema- Cannon Hendon in 1986 aged 14. It's not too bad.
How do you order from the UK 🤔
If you have friends or family in the US, you could see if they’d ship your order to you. If not, lots of people use forwarding services for imports

I also love how Cry Baby has an unhinged spirit that you can feel bubbling under the surface but Waters does his best to play it straight, so to speak
Now you’re talking Elliot with The Train. Lancaster and Paul Scofield are great and I love Jeanne Moreau.
@@u77750 I love it so much!

@@renaudgautier3975 the shaking is all natural I’m afraid! Feel free to pause the video if you want a closer look. Thanks for watching!
Barnes & Nobel don't ship to the UK so this is just depressing lol.
You tried with that stand, but clearly you prefer holding the discs 😂
I like to be hands on !

To Live and Die in LA is a KL must-buy! Incredible, peak Friedkin that shockingly is only available via physical media.
Is it really not available digitally? Wow. Physical media all the way!
@@ElliotCoen It streams on Apple TV+, in US anyway.
@@pete49327 You might be getting it confused with Live and Die in East LA

Lumet's Family Business. Just Tell Me What You Want and Bye Bye Braverman should be on bluray
Cowboys and Aliens title is a play on Cowboys and Indians
I got way too many movies in this sale 🫣
