I was wondering if there was a way to change the voice to something that doesn’t match the instrument. For example, I have an old sound font file that has a Super Mario World piano sound font, but when I load in that file it only lets me use the voice that is tied to that instrument. Is there a way to make it to where I can choose any voice for any instrument?
If you're using MS Basic, it automatically assigns the sound according to the chosen instrument, but if you use Musesounds or VST then you can choose whatever sound you want. You might be able to use a sound font VST wrapper to choose a sound you want from an sfz sound font. I haven't experimented with those yet.
@@mccoydtromb I believe what's he asking is if it's possible to save the mixer settings we created as a Default, so we can use it for other similar projects. That's what I was going to ask, anyway :p Would be really helpful. It's quite annoying having to change the settings for every new project.
@@javmbz_schlithler Agreed, this would be a good feature. At this stage you can't make custom presets, but a workaround is to setup a project (or use an existing working project, and delete all the notes, keep 32 empty bars or similar) then save it as a file that you can call a template. Then next time you want to start a new project make a duplicate of the template and rename it (or open and save as).
Is there some reason the order of instruments in the mixer fails to match the order on the score? Shouldn't changing the score layout change the mixer order to match?
You're right! It should but it doesn't. I see that someone reported this on the github development page in March 2023. The temporary workaround is to make your score changes, close the project and open it again. That updates the mixer view.
@@mccoydtromb I have closed and opened the project many times. The mixer view never changes. Where are we supposed to report bugs. This makes the mixer view un-useable. I literally don't know which voice I'm changing.
That's odd. I would add to the github musescore issue that's already open. A Google search for github musescore will get you there. Then go to issues tab and search for mixer order. But you need a free github account to post. You could also try the musescore discord forum. They're pretty good about finding solutions.
I'm new to Musescore and I think it is absolutely brilliant for writing Music scores in. However I am a guitar player and I use the Treble Clef and Guitar Tab. I cant seem to find to find a guitar to add. The sound I get when I playback on the default I can best describe as a noise really. All the notes seem to bleed into one another so I cant hear the chords even if they are Staccato. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. TIA
That's strange, I haven't heard of those problems with guitar. Have you tried the musesounds guitars in the muse hub? They've just been released and they're pretty good. Lots of useful guitar functions.
I use OBS Studio - open source, with many customization options. I connect my microphone through an audio interface and then make sure that my OBS scene includes computer sound and the microphone. I also have them recording on separate channels so I can mix them later!
Hi there! What are some basic rules for EQing a string orchestra piece? I'm using MuseSounds Simple EQ Strings Lustre but if you have any better suggestion, I'd like that. Do I cut off the top end of the Bass section and cut off a little low end of the Cello section? What about the other 3 sections (Vlns. I, Vlns. II, Vlas.)? I don't know what I'm doing so if you got any advice, it would be greatly appreciated! :)
I haven't even tried EQ within MuseScore with MuseSounds yet. I've been pretty happy with the sounds as they are. But if you want a bit more clarity in the mix you could try making space for each section in their iconic frequency range. For me, EQ is always about making small changes and making sure that it actually makes a positive difference, rather than just doing something for the sake of doing something... Sorry, I don't think that's much help.
Hi sir, great recap about the mixer. I would use hiding the fader more often. Although I had a problem with publishing my score online. I used the BBC orchestra plugin, and when I published my piece online, the rendered soundtrack had some issues in pf,sfp moments. Any idea why that is happening? Huge thanks to you from Iraq 🇮🇶🤍
Glad it could help. Do you mean the audio with the online score is different to how it sounded while you were working in musescore? I'll admit that I haven't tried sfp or fp with bbcso through musescore...

@@mccoydtromb Okay, thank you!
How can I save the mixer settings along with the tune? That‘s what I hoped to learn when watching this video.
I'm pretty sure the mixer settings are saved automatically with the musescore file. Do you find that everything resets when you open the file again?

@@mccoydtromb very nice tq sir.....
That master effect looks like it's MS version of Soundgoodizer:)
Thank you. How did you add two horns in one track?
It's just a label on the music. However you can choose between single horn or horn section (I think it's a4) with musesounds.

As for the software, nothing about it will ever cost money. Open source = free forever
That's true, thankfully! Even if the plugins become paid, musescore itself has to remain free and open source.
