Back catalogue games are great, because once that slow gaming cycle hits you always have something to fall back on.
I’ve been telling myself that for the 5+ years I’ve kept the games for but haven’t played yet😭

And Guerrila games managed to release both horizon games close to two of the biggest games of the decade. They definitely messed up.

It does apply to all things, movies that could have been big but came out on the wrong weekend with bad marketing. Gadgets that were ahead of their time. Movies released next to bigger movies. It happens all too often. They do thankfully tend to become cult hits though!!

@@NevTheDeranged nope backlog is it's own word. Back catalogue refers to all of an artists work. Backlog is the accumulation of unfinished work.
What game is stuck in your back catalog?
In December of 2021 I bought the remastered edition of Ghostbusters the video game because I had such a renewed interest in the franchise after seeing Afterlife and then stopped playing it after a certain point. And didn’t play it again until last week.
Cyberpunk 2077. I got it when I finished final fantasy xvi and I have not played it since September
(Also, SO many Nintendo games. I feel really bad about it and I feel obligated to complete them)
None I focus on the game i bought then I go to the next that I find interesting

Last time I played we didn’t have digital games. Wouldn’t having a hard copy be better? Wouldn’t a hard copy be better quality than a digital copy? And what if something happens to the hard drive, you will lose all of the games. I’m gonna buy FIFA and 1 other game but I will be getting hard copies.

@@jsilva7005 Nah man, the game is exactly the same regardless of where u get it from so quality is not an issue. Also, digital games are tied to your account not your device, so you can't lose them without somehow completely losing access to your account as well. It should also be mentioned that you can't scratch up a disk if there are no disks involved.
As far as I can tell the only reason to have hard copies nowadays are more due to wanting to see a physical version to browse through when deciding what to play or as decoration.
Edit: I forgot to add that older games are sometimes cheaper as hard copies, since the companies that sell them want to sell out their remaining stock to not lose money on them.

To be fair, Horizon was one of the biggest reasons I hated giving up my PS4. That game was so beautiful with the right mix of in-game lore, open world experience and storytelling.
both games are on PC, im playing through Forbidden West rn. It's fkin magical dude.
Wait a minute! Can't you just play PS4 games on the PS5? As far as I know, you don't even have to install them on the internal SSD, but can run them from an external drive (preferably an SSD).

Spider-Man 2 is much shorter than Horizon (I did all missions, unlocks, and upgrades in 21 hours), so it's an awesome "take a break before the next big one" kind of game. And evidently, people really enjoy playing around in it without paying mind to objectives, so good for them.
My backlog is about 170 games. It includes the Mass Effect and Bioshock series, plus Sly 4 on PS3.
My poor sweet child... I have a backlog from 1992 (Sonic 2 on Master System) and am well over 500 games in my backlog 😭 Don't become like me!!!
It took me 20 years to finish Alundra 2....AND I STILL HAVEN'T FINISHED ALUNDRA 1!!
I recommend tackling Mass Effect trilogy when you get a chance. The Legendary edition remaster is the definitive way to play the games and it’s great $ value.
Mine has Skyrim in it. I have it at halfway. And Final Fantasy 15, too. And The Witcher 3. And others.
If Valve has money to pay The Warp Zone hopefully in the future they have enough money to make good games like Spiderman 2, Tears of the Kingdom, Alan Wake 2, RE4 and Super Mario Wonder 😅

honestly horizon zero dawn is my fav open world game, I just love the concept of the world (i mean beautiful land with ruins and robot+dinosaur creatures? what can be better?!), the graphics, the combat system, I often look back to the game and miss it. It's truly amazing, I highly recommend it! Also do you really start another open-world game right after finishing another? I more like have a cycle of rpg, horror, platform, logical and choice-matter story games. Right now and during recent weeks I've been really hungry for a platform game but I have yet to finish exploring Skellige and Toussant to 100% and doing blood and wine quests in Witcher 3 (don't get me wrong though, I love the game).
The Horizon games are games of the generation for me, but I recognize that not everyone feels that way.
Yeah, I love “Horizon: Zero Dawn”! 🤘I want to finish it first before I even start the first “Spider-Man”; then I can move on to “Horizon: Forbidden West” and “Spider-Man 2.” 🙂

@@MarkEmerAndersonII I recently bought my PS5, too. I’ll be getting “Forbidden West” for it sometime. I want to finish “Zero Dawn” first. I know “Forbidden West” is also on the PS4, but I think the PS5 version will be better and more worth it.
Speaking as a fan of the Horizon games... I totally relate. I actually didn't play Horizon Zero Dawn until many months after I got it. Ironically, I got it at the same time as the first Spider-Man game and I was just more sicced at playing that. Then the pandemic hit and it gave me the excuse to play Horizon and I've been a fan ever since.

They don't know what they're missing. Though with how they treat her. They don't deserve to play Horizon. People like this would rather just drag the game through the mud and mock it than admit it's a great game

As someone who didn't play Elden Ring (not a fan of the Souls games personally), I'm definitely glad I had an alternative in Forbidden West to play during that time period. It wasn’t revolutionary, but I had enough fun with it to be existed for a third game in the series.

As someone who's played both Horizon games and completed the latest DLC, I find that statement sceptical.
Clearly you have not played Horizon Zero Dawn. It is awesome.
Spider-Man has been a mainstay for a while so it is more popular. Horizon is new but its one of the best looking graphics of all time. Both games are great in their own way and I played both, although still have not bought spider man 2.
Regardless Sony’s exclusives are really top notch.
@@ricklotter eh, I think it’s the most mid ps exclusive ngl. I liked it, but I didn’t find to be that impressive. And it definitely doesn’t stand up to the likes of Spiderman or god of war or even uncharted.
Horizon zero dawn was a better experience than Spiderman.

I agree. I’ve loved both games and hope the 3rd game pushes the envelope and lets us make some big RPG choices for Aloy’s character.

It's worse when you've started playing a game and fall off when something else catches your eye. Especially big open worlds. You try jumping back in but you're torally lost and forgot how most of the game works.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prime example of that for me. And funny enough, the same for Horizon Zero Dawn.
I did that with Hogwarts Legacy. I considered restarting because of the new free DLC drop but didn't want to lose my progress 😂😂😂 Someone send help!

This happened with me for both horizon games, I played a couple hours of it, then stopped and played a bunch of other games for months, then I finally come back to it and I’m finally in the mode to actually complete it

Wow...this happen to me...I kept putting forbidden west off. I bought it ages ago but only just beat the main story (After finishing Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, Fallen Order and Baulders Gate 3). Got the DLC but now im working Jedi Survivor...
horizon are great games though , but yes second game also was stuck in my back catalog until i got ps5! totally worth it though

My back catalog game is Immortals Fenyx Rising, played about 2/3 of it last year and haven't touched it since. I keep thinking about it but just isn't the time yet.

Fortnite is an online game, you can play with friends also it doesn’t take up much storage

Reminds me of some games that I have had installed for over a year and have yet to officially play.
I fell into a depression and couldn’t play anything for a whole year, so I’m super behind on a lot of games. Between work I’ve gotten through most of them. I’m playing Mario RPG right now. And then Sea of Stars. Then I might try to finally play Tears of the Kingdom.
This is pretty dang real to me, with the exact game. Still haven't done either Horizon Zero Dawn games despite owning them both, other games just seem better to me and I can't keep my attention any time I try to boot them up

This is pretty relatable. I've owned ny copy of Zero Dawn for years now, but I've never touched it. Maybe I'll play it after finishing Metal Gear Solid V? I can only really focus on one long game on a time, and that appears to be the 'long game' I last played.

The ending is why you always buy physical. No need to ever worry about hard drive space except for updates and DLC. It's all there on the disc/cartridge.
I feel this in my 2 2TB hard drives stuffed to the gills with games that I got for free with gold and game pass over the last few years lmao. My back catalogue between the big three console is like 500 games
