Steve’s happily ever after with Peggy from Endgame only works if you don’t think about it too much, as this sketch illustrates. Not only does he know so much that affects the lives of millions (and would be devastating not to be able to do anything about it), but also he’s just not the same trusting 100% soldier-first boy he was when Peggy knew him. While his heart and morality are the same, he is much more jaded after his time being an avenger.
not to mention there's a pretty big jump in his age from when Peggy knew him (before being frozen in ice). If Peggy is ok with that, she's into some freaking things. Around 10 year difference.

You’re telling me he’s in the past and doesn’t even TRY to save Bucky from HYDRA 🤨
Yeah. That's fucked up and completely out of character for Steve. Steve's whole thing was good guys couldn't just stand by and do nothing. Yet he opts out to be with Peggy, leaves Bucky all alone despite having just gotten him back and knowing what it's like to be alone, and does nothing about the world? I hated the writers for ruining Steve all so that he could be with a woman that he barely knew and hadn't even had a date with.
Think of it like this if he saved Bucky and freed him at that time in the past
Howard never gets killed and Tony never takes over the company which leads to him not being betrayed and becoming iron man
Hydra never come to power but still remain in shield so they would still be around
The avengers don’t have their key member Tony and shield has hydra lurking using other ways to take over as they won’t have the winter soldier
All this and then when Loki attacks in 2012 the avengers don’t exist or at the best scenario most get killed as they don’t have Tony and Bruce doesn’t have a lab partner to understand the tesseract aswell
This leads to New York being nuked and nobody to stop it and it results in millions of deaths
Fast forward to thanos if he arrives on earth for the time stone he’s getting it and wipes out half the universe leading to trillions of deaths and because Tony was never iron man he never meets Peter and gets the inspiration or any drive to develop time travel as Howard would be dead during this time probably due to old age and he just lives his life not being close as he was to the avengers
Conclusion: trillions dead and nobody to help reverse the snap and if let’s just say for a miracle they invented time travel and managed to get all the stones thanos would of wiped them out as no Tony to snap away his army so in a way as cruel as it was he needed to let the events play out as it was or trillions die

If that would've been the case cap would've probably agreed killing baby Thanos or probably teen Thanos or smth if he felt killing a baby was against his principles or guess what he couldve destroyed the infinity stones in his way to the past knowing that the stones are gonna get destroyed eventually so why not destroy them now and f Thanos plan
So I think Cap is an intelligent individual and he won't interfere with the timeline

Cassidy Starke Exactly, therefore he’d be creating an entirely different timeline, though it’s clear the Marvel time travel doesn’t consider the butterfly effect. The timeline we saw must have been a different one. When young Steve visits a dying Peggy, what would happen then? Another divergence as the interaction would be different or not happen at all

Keep in mind. A personal headcannon of mine is that Steve DID make the world better. Stopping all of the terrible things that happened from the 40's to 2000's. There was a few minutes, possibly an hour. While they were making the gauntlet and the time machine was still there. He could've returned to the current timeline before he even left, and still go back home.

Exactly. That is why I think the Russo Brothers are retconning and pulling explanations out of their ass when they say that Steve is the husband of Peggy's children in the original timeline. Either Steve went back to Peggy in an alternate timeline or he stayed hidden and was never seen in public. In the original timeline, Steve's plane went down. So if he had walked back up, everyone would have known who he was. So either they would have not gone looking for the Steve in the ice and he would have never joined SHIELD thereby changing events or they would have found another Steve Rogers in the ice, which would have messed up the timeline. Cap going back in time to be with Peggy created an alternate timeline; IDGAF what the Russo brothers say.
