- Just a fun chat from the gas station. Today is my 67th Birthday, talking about taking early retirement and social security at 62. The student loan debt forgiveness program is just a way to try and buy votes. Where is my forgiveness. Civil unrest this summer?

I COMPLETELY agree with you about the student loan "forgiveness." Universities are making billions of dollars off these worthless degrees, and they won't lose a dime when these loans are "forgiven." We taxpayers will have to pay for that. And the "poor, unfortunate" young adults with worthless degrees will still be no better off as far as the education they should have gotten. Universities have career counselors (my sister is one at a local community college). Career counseling should be mandatory for EVERY student receiving loans or grants to go to college. It should also be a requirement in high school. We don't need any more "educated idiots" with useless degrees. If you want a degree in thirteenth century French poetry, you should have to pay for that crap yourself.

Im taking social security as soon as possible. Im 56 and have had enough of all the corporate BS pep talks and buzzwords to make you feel like we are all so valued at our jobs. There are a ton of jobs and connections ive made over the yrs that I can work under the table and make up the cash.

Hey Joe! Glad I found this video! I'll be 60 in two weeks, and I'm also looking at collecting at 62.
Happy Birthday, Joe! I had a rather interesting life in my twenties, and didn't expect to make it to thirty either. I retired at my full retirement age, which was sixty--six and a half. I retired last October, and we sold our house and moved away from the big city. Unlike you, both Linda and I have significant health issues. I envy you in some ways. We are still in town, and won't ever be getting a bugout location. Neither of us could live far from medical help. Linda is in a wheelchair. But I also was lucky enough to have a job I loved, which also had excellent benefits. I had an excellent income, and the retirement account paid for our house outright along with all the expenses of moving here, with almost ten grand left over. I DID think about retiring early, but for myself, it's been well worth it.

I hope you had a good birthday! I listened to your Social Security video a few years ago when you said you were about to take it at 62. You were one of the ones who helped me consider taking my Social Security at age 62 and now I am so glad that I did! It was one of the best things I have ever done in my life.

Your right on Joe with loan forgiveness i know someone paid 80K to be a artist he cant make a living at it ,i think his father should have told him not a good idea.
