You have a capital gain from the sale of your main(primary) home, you may qualify to exclude up to $250,000 of that gain from your income, or up to $500,000 of that gain if you file a joint return with your spouse if lived there 2 years or more in last 5 years.

I filed a homestead exemption which drastically cut my property taxes, then the county appraisal district raised my home's value by 15K the next year. You can't win!

We should be able to declare inflation as a loss! . Its One big shell game and there has to be a better way than the IRS system.

The $25000 down payment assistance plan will just cause the price of houses to go up by that amount or more. What's it called when there's more money in the system than housing available?
    That's right, inflation!

There already is down payment assistance out there. Not 25 k but other programs. Obama had a program back during his administration that was up to 10 k. That one had to do with the cost of the house. And 10 k then is like 20 k today.
And, first time home buyers only means you haven't bought one in 3 years from what I heard. Had a neighbor that got about 5 grand a few years ago to buy the house she bought.

I think you're reading too much into it. I'm more worried about all the tariffs Trump has in mind. You add 20 percent to everything coming from other countries, you think we had inflation before.

I didn’t hear that Trump was going to add a 20% tax to the imports after we received them from other countries.

@@Vicki1951and 60 percent on specific items from China. I'm glad to see you call it a tax because that's exactly what it is.

@@Vicki1951Trump, during his administration put tariffs on appliances from China and that area. It was shown it added 200 bucks to the average washer and dryer. It was about a year or so they lifted the tax and they went down. They went down about 140 bucks. We need to think hard before we blame people for inflation. Plumbing parts went through the roof when that tariff was put in place. Remember people talking about can goods going up back then. Can sodas shot up back then. That was tariffs on metals from China. Just think of all the Chinese parts are in our American made cars. The box on the table saw I bought is labeled proudly made in USA with parts from China. Most of the shop equipment I own will set you back about 40 percent more now. Demand has caused some of that to drop a little. I will say greed and profit margins was part of some of the price increases.

The Biden administration announced measures that will add tariffs to Chinese products worth tens of billions of dollars, a move that will project a tough-on-China approach ahead of the presidential election.
The tariffs, which range from 7.5 percent to 100 percent, will apply to clothing, solar panels, electric vehicles, syringes, steel and other goods that China has been selling at far cheaper prices than many American businesses, threatening to put U.S. factories out of business.
The steps are likely to raise the cost of some imports at a time when Americans are already dissatisfied with rising prices. But they also represent a major effort by the Biden administration to address a salient political issue for some voters: America’s dependence on China for an array of products.

And the very people that would benefit under the blue team and vote red. That's what I don't understand. And were talking about a guy that wants to blame everyone else for all his legal problems.
