better late than never?
Far better with the sound included!
Pretty sweet alright 😂
@@sw-videography9443 Double the views/downloads if you have to watch it and listen to the podcast to get the audio lol
Not sure if you guys are old enough to remember but Vijay was accused of being a cheater earlier in his career. I think that stink followed him for years. I don't know the specific charge, but it was definitely talked about back in the day. Also he has a reputation of being very tough on caddies. His mantra for caddies (supposedly) was show up, keep up, and shut up. These issues may have led to his "underrated" status.
Love the content, but could you put 50p in the meter and switch the lights on please ;)
Yeh the lighting needs upping
Must have had a big night before and was sensitive to light 😂
On these super exclusive courses, the conditions can be super exclusive as well. That said I really enjoyed the episode where James tried to break the course record on that 9 hole short course. That course had the conditions im familiar with. What if the fairways were perfect, the greens were huge, and the putting surfaces were true and pure?? Would have been a different story. Ive been saying for years that if a pro played the way an amateur does ; conditions, no caddy, no "practice" rounds, greens books etc.....they would not do as well as one would think. On the other hand, could an amateur improve that much on an exclusive course with all the "pro" advantages?? Lets find out Rick!!!!
Bethpage Black, site of two US Opens, costs out of state residents $140, state residents $70, and, for us old guys, $47. A real bargain.
I played at Royal St Georges in 2002 for 75 pounds 4 of us it was such a treat and loved it - my treat next year will be TPC Louisiana
Great one again as always. Love to see a golf bidder comparing drivers of the past 5-7 years.
Rick's face and astonishment at Guy having an electric trolley at 16 is brilliant!!!
I am 48 , and I am still watching all your videos & going all out !!! Scratch is not easy to maintain & it is the unbeatable game !! Work hard & never be satisfied !!
The problem with massively overpriced courses isn't just the top venues these days. Some of the courses in Scotland for instance that were £30-40 about ten years ago are now over £150. It is just a shame that rich visitors have outpriced the working class man which wasn't always the way. I like a nice clubhouse experience but I'm a golfer, I go for the golf not the feeling that I'm being spoilt.
I’ve never thought of the handicap as a “insert number” under par before. Wonder if this is a better mindset to have on the golf course instead of playing counting bogeys etc and taking it off on the end. - Ha, Guy just said exactly that I was writing this.
Thanks for all your insight , you guys are always on top of it
Brilliant again just wish this podcast was longer, can’t get enough
DRS - Drag reduction system (reduces drag on straights for higher speed)
Rick, please explain different kick points in different shafts. Love the show. Your the best.
Love Tuesday golf hour
It would b cool to c Guy and Rick play a 9 hole match as we here guy always beats Rick, keep up the great content
Somehow , you guys need to be able to bring stuff up on the tv behind you guys ..like the picture as a kid you were compared too ...you guys are so good !! That little thing like showing the stuff on the screen would be perfect !!
Him , Couple's, Stewart were the guys I loved & built my swing like .
The set looks really great. Pat on the back for those involved in the design.
Craig Stadler--Masters Champion..son..Kevin Stadler who has played on the PGA tour.
Davis Love III..his dad played as a PGA Professional and is a famous teacher.
Was a big fan of Vijay, was peaking at the time I was just starting to get into playing golf in the early 00s, was probably the first golfer I really supported whilst watching on tv
A caveat to the discussion about golf being expensive.... I get your angle from the lens of a UK golfer. In the US its a whole different animal. I live in Southern California and if I want to golf a muni on a weekend morning its around $70.
I use to play as VJ on the PlayStation and everyone else used Tiger. I mark my balls with VJ when I play now 😂
Is it me or does Rick love a different sport every week 😂
Haha true
In North America, the sons of NHL hockey players and MLB baseball players get much more attention from scouts and coaching than Johnny whose father was a carpenter.
Great podcast, lads!
Well if you remember 2008, Vijay DESTROYED the 1st FedEx Cup and Padraig Harrington was 2nd, both players were incredible that year but overshadowed by Tiger's Torrey Pines US Open win....
laughed all the way to work listening to this
Lighting upgrade would be huge
I work with a guy who used to be a greenkeeper at beaverbrook and some of the stories are unbelievable about that place
Definitely get your kids into karting Rick. I’ve just started with my son and he loves it and it’s a great community to be in, everyone is really helpful. Stick with the F1 even though Sunday was an abomination! As for other father/son drivers. Nico/Keke Rosberg, Graham/Damon Hill, Carlos Sainz Jnr and Senior (although senior is rally driver).
What you make of that race? I’m not that big into it but me I don’t get how they only let through some of the lapped drivers and not all?
The way to grow the game is for the elite clubs to look after the lesser clubs .
Birkdale should be using some of the vast amounts of money it gets to support Southport muni .
I suggest you do a piece on Southport muni . It’s a course that could be so much better with the help of the local elite clubs .The Art Deco building could be a fantastic club house .
I can see VJ with RS head covers 😂
Wouldn't have liked to be a ginger kid with a powerkaddy trolley at Rick's club when he was a kid 🤪
Tommy is my favourite player.just seems so normal which is a good think.
Lovin your work, would love a new driver too!
My most expensive round of golf was at ganton it is a cracking course
Drag Reduction System
I was in spain on a beautiful golf course and it was 1 euro for 100 balls on the range which was all grass and amazing quality targets etc but thats impossible to maintain without an expensive membership to pay for the upkeep of it. That guy definitely shouldn't feel guilty about his mate telling them he got a hole in one haha
When you do a video from a course, can you indicate if and how visitors can play it?
I dont understand why people think so hard about this..... if you take 3 off the tee and put it in the hole it's a "whatever the yardage is" shot in the hole. Still super impressive but no different than holing out on a 4 or 5.
Mia Baker did a video at queenwood
Was this recorded during the recent power cuts?
If you like the drama of F1 Rick then you need to get into Drive to Survive on Netflix!! Pure drama!
Agree with Guy what a player was Vijay simply awesome so good
And the name that immediately was mentioned. Couple of pods ago with the putting coach. He said he was the best player who was the worst putter or something like that
Be proud of the best par you could ask for !!
Couldn’t be more chuffed with it Darren!
PLEASEEEEEE bring VJ onto the podcast if you can!
Hey Rick, MotoGP might be interesting for you. Very similar to F1, but in my opinion more exciting. Give it a go, I think you'll like it.
Aaaaah, with sound :-)
If the “flex” is the most important part of golf then the game will struggle to grow. I love playing prestigious courses, but I will always try and get a deal as some of the prices are ridiculous. Making it affordable isn’t necessarily going to increase the footfall. There are other ways to keep traffic low on the course, whilst still allowing the average Joe to play and recreate their golf dream. If I have to save up for a round that I am really pushing myself financially for then my experience isn’t relaxed or comfortable. I would put too much pressure to enjoy it rather than relaxing and soaking it up. I also wouldn’t feel “worthy” or welcome.
Have you thought of doing a vlog on a surfboard buggy. That would be funny.
Love your Videos Rick😜
Did Tommy get a sausage roll at the half way house
listening to Rick talking about F1, it is mad and I have watched it for donkeys. Thought everyone watched it!
Are there any plans for Little Ricky to make an appearance at a golf club any time soon?? ha!
Is it possible to get custom fitted for older drivers! I want to get custom fitted, but don't want to pay the £500 for the latest and greatest. Especially as you just said the performance isn't much different
The only modern golfers that I can recall being truly successful on tour as father being pro and then the son are Craig and Kevin Stadler. It happened a few times in earlier eras//
Singh for vj association 🎵
Funny you talk about Vjay. Do you think that because tiger was around, it drove everyone else in that era to be better? What if tiger wasn’t around? Would vjay be the tiger? Or would it be like now where there are just soo many good players where the competition is better? Or am I out to lunch?
First time I've properly disagreed with something you guys have said, although you're right someone could go to sports direct and get 12 quid shoes and a 70 quid package set but if that's the entry in to the game are they going to keep enjoying it? They would outgrow the 70 quid half set fairly quickly and want/need other clubs. 12 quid shoes wouldn't be comfortable for long so it's counter intuitive. I get the point you were making though, golf is only as expensive as you want/make it.
I live in the SE, there are no £10 green fees down this way. It cost £30 min round this way
Have just joined a club, originally part of a companies sport and social club, now private. £325 a year, no clubhouse or pro shop, £10 a round / day for visitors, course is good only about 350 members so not overplayed.
It’s 9 holes with 4 double tee holes to change the back 9
£65 end of year membership till March 1st, bargain
As a duffer Chad. I approve this podcast.
With sound!
Paying high green fees for the top golf courses is no different from paying for an expensive hotel room. Sure, you can get a bed at a Travelodge, but that isn't the same overall experience as staying at the Four Seasons.
And you can play literally every other sport for free. That’s the point. Rich old people have everything and will still cry about something. Meanwhile the rest of us have to work and fight for a weekend tee time or play twilight and only get 14 in. Golf is ridiculously expensive.
@@pigs6486 Agreed, the wealthy are in a privileged position, whether they are moaning about things … I don’t know, I am not in that club. Golf is expensive, no denying that, but as with absolutely every consumer product on the planet, there is a price range to suit a range of budgets.
@@LemonJelly360 well if you’re oblivious to how old people are not growing the game then you probably are in that club. More power to you though, I’m sure the four seasons is great.
@@pigs6486 So far all I’ve heard you say is that old white people are the problem. What do you propose the game does to tackle this? And for the record, I’m not a member at a golf club, I’ve never stayed at a four seasons, and I’m not old.
Break 75 around the 10 most exclusive courses in the UK?🤔
Vijay's son Qass (pronounced Cass) was a HELL OF A TALENT and shouldve made it
Love the story about how you decided not to caddy for Tommy and shoot a video
Looks romantic 🥰
When’s the match v Tommy video out?
The reason there are more footballers whose fathers played is because at any one time there are only a small number of top golfers (100's) in the world but 1000's are playing football at at top level worldwide
God I love you guys
The second I saw the title "Underrated golfer" I knew it was Vijay...
It’s not a hole in one, but it’s the best par he’ll ever have
It certainly was, cheers David
When someone asks me if I have had a hole in 1, I say no. I am one of those unlucky folk who have had a hole in 3. It was in a competition, I hit the first onto the railway line and hit my next straight into the hole. Frustrating!
I would have to say that golf is 'cheep' compaired to Polo ponies, boating, or private planes. No comparison.
🔥
Chad Williamson is actually 17 and lives in Texas…
Hopefully the Tommy vid is a good 2 hours so we get to see every shot
Get me in the Vijay Appreciation Society. Social Secretary. Or New Member relations.
We call that a hole-in-one for par.
dunno if this is true but I think for the old course you need to join a lottery, but I could be wrong if thats true then I think thats ridiculous
No, that’s for spare tee slots, it’s mostly booked times and covid this year stopped many global tourists coming so lots of UK golfers were able to book and play
The amount of ads on this podcast is fucking outrageous.
Chad Williamson, Laurence Thompkinson, and Phillip Donaldson walk into a bar, one of them says "My boy had a hole in one today!" ..... who had the fake hole in one??
Rick profiling those people was absolutely brilliant.
No course is worth £20 a hole? Yes there are plenty. Augusta for example. The Ailsa. If you can’t afford it that’s fine don’t play.
DROP THE VIDEO WITH TOMMY THE ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME
I have a real, fake hole-in-one story about a known cheater in our club. Where can I send it?
Technically it’s a hole out, not a hole in “one”
If 5 people signed up Vijay Singh would write down 4…….massive cheat lads.
When did Guy become American? Soccer.....Pants?
Let's gooooo
Chad 😂😂😂😂
First
Guy people don't talk about Vijay because in older players memories he is and always will be a CHEAT, look a bit more at his early career you'll see what I mean
It’s called football not soccer come on boys your English
People struggle to sit through a 2 hour big budget Hollywood movie. I don’t know why you guys thought that people would sit through a 2 hour interview with Tommy Fleetwood?! I get that you guys were probably super excited to sit down with a proper tour pro, but it was way too long. I don’t think the numbers are great on it either. Hope they do better tho, it deserves to because it was an enjoyable interview, if at least 90 mins too long.
I have an idea
Why don't you just watch 90 minutes of it
@@ForzaOwnz is that Guy on his burner account?
@@sijones501 You that insecure that you jump to accusing that of someone? Lol
You say it was an enjoyable interview, what 30 minute part of it would you like to have just had? Do you really think it would be just as enjoyable if that spoke about a quarter of what they did
@@ForzaOwnz it was perfectly respectable feedback that wasn’t offensive or cutting in any way. And it was MY opinion. Do you get that? MINE! Not yours. So jog on somewhere else and leave YOUR opinion on your own thread. Whopper!
@@stewbrown kind of proved my point. Those numbers are for a 5 minute clip of the interview, not the full one. The full length one has performed poorly considering it was on the main RS channel. There is a 5 minute video that was posited 2 days after the Tommy interview that has more views. That is a channel with 2m subscribers, one that I’ve seen have a million videos on videos within a week. It has without doubt performed at least mediocre.
And again, this is MY opinion. And it was honest but respectful feedback. And honestly, that is more valuable to them then people who just come on saying they like every single video - which is almost impossible. Honesty feedback, even if it isn’t always positive is what a company needs.
