Thanks for sharing, John. Nice variety of cards that made the list. Surprised that the DiMaggio or Williams was not number one. Good pre war set to collect.

Yes, I would have thought that either of them could have had the top spot, but that Jackson is a very popular card and is in the high number series. It's a great alternative to a very expensive playing-days card of him.

My brother found a bunch of these cards in a ran down house but whoever had them glued them on a piece of cardboard

Wow! That's a great find! Unfortunately, even if you were able to separate them from the cardboard there would certainly be some paper loss on the back. But, if the rest of the card is nice, and depending who the player is, they might be worth a little something. If graded they would probably come back as a 1 on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the best. But if it's any of the ones in the top 3-4 on my list even 1s have some value to certain collectors.

Yes. For pre-war cards (those older than 1942) the Play Ball set is very popular with collectors. They buy them wherever they can find them, eBay, auction houses, card shows, and card shops.
For all of the choices I would choose the 1940 Play Ball card. The Grover Cleveland Alexander versus the 1969 Topps Ryan would be a tough choice though between the two.

@@WadeBoggsFan Spud Chandler or JC Martin hm maybe because 1967 seems to be more closer to our time period I guess J C Martin
Tris Speaker in the high set or Mike Shannon card 605 Tris Speaker by an edge
Yeah Groever Alexander was great but I have to go 1969 Ryan
Christy Mathewson or Steve Carlton I will assume that's an all time great card if so Carlton by thousands of miles if it's still his playing days card then Carlton by a little.
1973's are very sweet Ryan over Walter Johnson
Jimmy Fox or Yaz HMM Yaz by a drop
Moe Berg vs Munson not even close Munson 1971
Ted Williams or George Brett 1975's are sweet I guess by a little I would go Ted Williams
      Dimmiagio over Rose.
