    I recently discovered my porosity (I'm Lo po) and went on a hunt for this line of products, because I read great reviews on the Shea Moisture website. I prepared to wash my hair about 3 hours ago and watched this video before and became terrified. Lol.. Judging from the videos on this channel, my hair texture is almost identical to your hair (😍), so I immediately figured these products wouldn't work on my hair and was prepared to be disappointed. However, I was pleasantly surprised. My hair LOVES these products. The shampoo gave me a good cleanse and my hair felt a bit dry afterwards, but as soon as I added the conditioner it became soft and so defined. I followed up with the Shea Moisture deep treatment masque to deep condition. I then rinsed that out with warm water and applied the leave-in to damp hair. My hair is so soft, and also has a good bit of shine after styling. If you have Lo po hair try these products for yourself guys. You may be surprised! 😊

      You are the perfect example of why you can't rely on someone else's opinion about a product. My hair texture is also like hers. And the low porosity conditioner worked great for my hair. Soft n defined. I walk liked the detangler/leave in.

      yeah i never understood the hype around shea moisture.. none of their products really work for my hair and a lot of people i know. my friends with looser curl patterns eat that crap up tho. i figured since their ingredients are pretty solid the products would work well but ultimately i've had far better luck with other brands. i'm still going to give this low porosity shampoo and conditioner a try cuz i recently chopped off all my hair and none of my old products wok except my knot today.

    The Shea Moisture Low Porosity Leave-in is my holy grail! I'm surprised it didn't work for you. My hair is so easy to detangle when i used the leave-in and it is fully absorbed into my hair. I LOVE this leave-in. I rave about it to every natural that I meet.

    First of all I have to say that my hair is low porosity so maybe that's why this line works so well for me. The shampoo cleaned my hair really well and did not leave it feeling dry at all. The conditioner instructions say to apply to clean "wet" hair so that's what I did. I did not touch it with a towel or t-shirt prior to application. It felt like it completely soaked into my hair and I left it on while I finished my shower which was more like 8 minutes than the three minutes the instructions say. Prior to rinsing the conditioner off I finger detangled my hair. Rinsing was easy it didn't linger in my hair like some conditioners. After completely rinsing the conditioner I applied the detangler to my wet hair. The detangler directions say to apply to damp hair. I didn't towel it but just squeezed out some if the water so it wasn't sopping wet. The detangler was a nice texture, not sticky and actually seemed more like a leave in conditioner than a detangler especially since I detangled with the conditioner and didn't feel like I needed a detangler. I palmed the detangler down the sections of my hair like I would a gel and then put more in my hands, flipped my hair forward and scrunched my curls. I air dried my hair and when it was completely dry it had a very light cast so I reached in and lightly massaged my hair at the scalp to give my curls some volume and also lightly scrunched my curls all over. My hair was vibrant and very shiny. My curls were super defined and extremely soft. I have used these products several times and each time the results have been the same. And as a bonus I have gotten four days from each wash routine which is amazing because with my other products I'm lucky to get two....maybe three days. A young gal stopped me in the grocery store the other day (I was on day three hair!) and she asked me how I get such gorgeous curls. Gotta just say that made my month!!! I don't think anyone has ever asked me that in my life. I believe I have found my go-to hair products. Love these Shea Moisture products for low porosity hair.

    • @lblack1961
      @lblack1961 6 років тому +4

      Thank you for your detailed description of how you use it. I have found it really makes a difference adhering to the directions on products. I try to stick to them the first couple times I try a product before veering off on my own. Devacurl was the firstr product I found that you better stick to the instructions or you may not like your results. When I got that learning curve, I realized that's what I should do with any product I use before deciding it doesn't work for me.

    • @lblack1961
      @lblack1961 5 років тому +1

      btw...I have since used the Low Porosity line and I LOVE IT. I have mixed porosities on my head (parts are low, others normal). It took care of my low porosity sections like nothing else ever has. So now I alternate between this line, the Red Palm Line, and others, using Deva Curl or Design Essentials No Poo or Cowash in between wash days. Because the Deva Curl and DE are kind of protein heavy products (or act like that on my hair), alternating among all these products helps keep my hair in a moisture and protein balance without overloading on either (which would cause my hair to break from mushiness or brittleness, respectively).

    I absolutely love this line!!! My hair has no been so soft and moisturized and it now shines (which it never has before). What I do, that the reviewer did not do, is apply the products to WET hair (preferrably in the shower), not sprayed/misted hair. Don't discount the line because someone says they don't like it as everyone's hair is different. Ex: We're both low po and she likes benzonite clay and it makes my hair tangled and brick-hard. Try the line and see for yourself as there are other reviewers on YT that like it as I do.

    So far I've only tried the conditioner from the Low Porosity line and I LOVE IT. I swear the conditioner had the most slip in any product I've ever used. I shampooed with the Raw Shea Butter shampoo which I think works well for low po hair since it doesn't strip it to the point of drying it out.

      Rinse out the shampoo with very warm water then apply the conditioner on damp hair. Try keeping the conditioner in your hair for 15 minutes under a plastic cap(you can add heat for deeper penetration). I don't like the constituency of the detangler, but then I put it on wet hair. It worked to detangle my hair leaving it AMAZINGLY soft, hope that helps.

      Agreed! I love the rinse out conditioner and deep conditioner. I use Kinky Curly come clean then follow up with the rinse out conditioner from the Low Porosity line, then I use TGIN Honey + Miracle Deep Conditioner followed with the SM low porosity leave in. Works great for about 6 months now.

      +ZeeReeGee . No I disagree. It's all about money. It's not about race. From the jump their product would have worked on any race's hair. It's just that selling to blacks was easier; and a vital part of their successful financial platform, why would they change that? yeah, what you see now is them just greedier. I've seen this with many products that have gone big. We sell them originals, JBCO, and Manuka Honey line since they have the best reviews. Sometimes I swear they throw in a new oil, and create a new line.

    My hair actually loved this product especially the leave in. I have had natural hair for 6 years. What I have learned is that you have to try it yourself. @kayw1771 6 років тому +1

    I know this video is old but I just came across it and I notice a lot of people are saying they aren’t gonna try this because it didn’t work out so great for her. What works for one may not work for all and vice versa. Y’all...I couldn’t figure out why my hair was feeling like straw and wouldn’t get mosturized for nothing. I realized I was low porosity but I also understood that because I am, I have a ton of build up. I like t find the low porosity shampoo but thank goodness I couldn’t because it forced me to get the sacha inchi oil rescue & repair shampoo. It strips the hair but restores moisture back in. My hair was SQUEAKY clean to the point the squeak sounds scared me. I used the low porosity conditioner afterwards but I used a plastic cap and sat under a dryer for 15 minutes. Washed it out with hot water and my hair was soft. I followed up with the low porosity leave-in and put organic cold pressed coconut oil on top. When I tell you the next morning I almost cried. I couldn’t keep my hands out my hair. It was like I had someone else’s hair on my head. It was so silky soft and I’m 4C by the way. Every other day for the first week I spritzed warm water & applied the leave in and coconut oil though I could have gone without. The second week I skipped moisturizing days & still soft & moisturized. Maybe you all who didn’t like it need to mix it up. You don’t have to use the whole line together just because it’s a coheisive line. You have to find the combo that works for what your hair needs. Remember low porosity needs warmth to open the cuticles. Warm water, heated conditioning sessions, strip the build up but make sure what you’re stripping with also restores moisture at the same time. Heavy creams & oils are t necessarily a great thing for low porosity hair. Think about it; the heavier it is the harder/longer it’ll take so sink i to the hair shaft. Your cuticle may be closed up faster than it takes the product to really get it and then you just have product sitting on instead of in the hair. Find your magic methods ladies!

    I have low porosity hair and was excited to try this line. It worked like a charm. I love it. I recently switched my routine up by doing my deep conditioner first and that cut down my detangling session by many hours. I'm not sure if this routine included a deep conditioner though.

    I have waist length hair and I was really excited to try these products because of all the awesome reviews. I got the curling smoothie and another one and I could tell as soon as I put them into my hair that something wasn't right. My hair was so dry,knotted and my curls had shrunk all the way up to my shoulders I was so upset. My hair felt like it had a dry film over it and I took it back to sally's after trying it one more time. Thanks for the honest review, your hair is gorgeous.

    I actually used the leave in detangler in the raw shea butter line and I hated it at first, my hair felt very greasy and it just sat on top of my hair and did not penetrate it at all. Then I decided to try it again and I applied it while my hair was soaking wet in the shower and I had so much slip and it penetrated my hair so much better. I heard the low porosity leave in conditioner is very similar so I would suggest to maybe try it while you are in the shower after rinsing your hair with warm water. The hair cuticle is open more from the steam in the shower. A lot of their products are a hit or miss for me. I hope this was helpful! :)

    I have 3b & 3c very course thick/dense soft hair and non of "Shea Moisture"products work for me, they just sat on top of my hair, in fact the deep conditioner with the sea kelp made my scalp so itchy that I returned the entire line and had to buy something to rewash my hair to get it off my scalp. I haven't repurchased it since.

Shea moisture is NOT cheap and I don't get free money I get up and go to work everyday and to have it spent CARELESSLY... well you know what I mean.. anyway.. over a year ago the enhancing smoothie was the rave I bought that carp and my hair almost walked off my head.. no thank you no more Shea moisture purchases for me.. thank you for sharing queen.. I just tried these products and loved them. Perhaps it was reformulated since this video was posted? My hair has never been so easily managed in the shower. Also, I didn't have to use tons of product like I usually do. after the shampoo and conditioner, i used the detangler, brushed through again (I brush in the shower while rinsing out conditioner) and put it in twists. my hair is air drying and it is so soft to the touch. I may even be able to blow it out after it's dry, which never ever worked in the past with other lines, shae moisture, or otherwise.

    I tried the conditioner in this line because I needed a protein free product. I have high porosity and low porosity hair. the smell of the product was odd but it made my scalp tingle and felt wonderful when I massage the product into my scalp which I really wasn't going to do until it started to tingle. It absorbed into my hair strands beautifully but I have mostly fine high porosity hair. the section that is low porosity also like this product. I have not tried the shampoo or leave in. I may try to leave in eventually.

    i love this line. I buy it regularly. I have always had severe dandruff, so I find myself using the low porosity shampoo with Jason medicated anti-dandruff shampoo. i always use the conditioner as a deep conditioner while in the shower and i find that leaving it in longer helps it to soften and loosen the hair. The leave in detangler reminds me a lot of kinky-curly's Knot today which works great for me, but I find I have to have my hair really wet for it to work because it works best when used to help seal in moisture thats already there. I dont use it entirely alone though because I agree that an oil or a good creme should be used for low porosity hair too. If you use a lot and your hair is wet, it feels like the tangles just melt away, but thats just my experience. I use a Crave naturals detangling brush because detangling solely with my fingers is always hell lol

    Ive learned to work with shea moistures products and I actually love this line.. At first i was like wtf when it came to that leave in detangler because i felt like i was putting dam grease on my hair because its very oily. But then i realized ( like alot of naturals) I was putting on way too much product.. With alot of shea moisture lines a light touch goes along way with the moisturizers and i noticed if I used too much it dried my hair out. I think alot of us naturals use waaaay too much product on our wash n gos then we are mad when our hair comes out looking and feeling crazy because we think the more product we slather on our strands the more moisture but sometimes too much can have a reverse affect.. I see alot of youtubers doing reviews and they put half a bottle of leave in for one wash n go then they be feeling like its the product but its sometimes there methods too much oil and products is a no no for my hair.. I dont appreciate the whole shea moisture commercial bullshit but one thing i can say is they use really good ingredients and it works for my hair.. Alot of these natural hair companies have good products that work for alot of peoples hair and they call it organic and natural then you read the ingredients and find stuff if their you cant even pronounce.. For example Mielle Organics she makes really good products but i aint feelin some of those ingredients in her stuff because my scalp is sensitive to unatural preservatives but thats just me too eaches own if you have a product that works for you wether its all natural or not then stick with it.. Shea moisture gets my coin because I feel safe using there products and they work for my hair.. But everyones hair and techniques are different so what works for someone else might not work for you.. And just because she might have not liked the product doesnt mean you cant try it and bring it back if you dont like it.. Alot of people need to learn to try different things instead of following behinde someone else just because it didnt work for them because you miss out on alot being a follower. Its good to get opinions on different products but you gotta try it for yourself before you knock it.. You cant just look at someones hair and think because it looks identical to yours that you guys have the same hair.. We all have different genetics and everyones hair is unique like a fingerprint no two people have the same hair I dont care how identical it looks on the outside.. Unless your twins or something.

    You said you like to apply your products damp, but when I applied the Conditioner with my hair wet (right after rinsing it out), it made my hair soft and detangled and I felt the tingle. I noticed a similar result when using the leave in detangler with my hair wet....I didn't need as much as you did because my hair was wet. I think the key to this product line is that your hair is wet, with the cuticles open so it can penetrate the hair. I am no expert, just sharing my experience and I didn't use the shampoo, I use Shea Moisture's African Black shampoo. Maybe try again but with wet hair and not damp hair?

    I just tried it for the first time yesterday. All three you used in this video. Personally I like what the shampoo and conditioner does for cleansing my hair especially being low porosity. As far as the leave in detangler, I would not buy it again. My hair felt dry as well. I had to keep putting conditioner in. When I put it in my hair my curls weren't as defined as they usually are when I use the AS I AM products 😩🙌🏽 my favorite line so far! I don't like my hair to look too full, the Shea Moisture Low Porosity line made my hair really soft but too big for my liking. I ended up putting my hair in a pineapple to go to work the next day. Not my best wash and go product

    I think Shea Moisture didn't consider porosity along with the density of the hair. My hair is on the thinner side and it's low porosity; I loved every single product from the low porosity line. I use the clarifying shampoo every 2 weeks and I co-wash with the conditioner every week. I apply the leave-in to my hair directly after rinsing and comb through with fingers or a wide tooth comb and then I wrap in a microfiber towel or a t-shirt to dry. When it air dries, I don't need anything else in my hair. I refresh my wash and go with Carol's Daughter Sacred Tiare spray and I deep condition weekly with Shea Moisture strength grow and restore mask.

      JourneyTo WaistLength I wonder that for you too🤔 and I really wanna know because it seems we have the same texture! but I can't figure out my porosity level for the life of me! I thought it might be high porosity because my hair will be so shiny and moisturized but if I don't seal properly it'll look dry and dull the next day even with my silk scarf. Then I thought low porosity b/c some products will not penetrate and bend my hair to will(like edge control) and my hair won't flat iron silky, weighted straight; it looks more like a fluffy one pass with the iron( I've only flat ironed 3 times in the past year)

    We have similar hair. I'm only familiar with the detangler in this range, but I find it works wonders on soaking wet hair. I detangle at this stage and re-wet in shower if needed. I get great results. I also apply a small amount once I finish detangling then squeeze out excess water and product. Sometimes I add a gel (Eco styler olive oil, sometimes I don't). Once dried my hair is left super soft and moisturised.

    It could also be because you weren’t in a hot shower where the heat could open your follicle more for the product to absorb 🤷🏻‍♀️ just a thought. I know heat makes a big difference for product absorption with my lopo hair.

    I love this line and is the best I've ever used. I knew I had low porosity hair but I actually think my hair is protein sensitive. My hair loves these products and will stay nice and soft for the whole week with no breakage.

    I have low porosity, 4a hair and I was just so excited to see this new leave in. When I try it, my hair was very sticky and had no definition, also it shrunk a lot. It was very expensive for the size.

    I use the Jamaican Black Oil Shampoo, Conditioner,Leave In Conditioner,Restore Treatment Masque ,Styling Lotion and Edge Gel, for styling purposes I use the Coconut and Hibiscus line the for curls Hold and Shine Mist, Soufflé, and Gel depending on what type of curls I want. Just got the Frizz Free Curl Mousse haven't used it yet. All of these products are from the Shea Moisture Line and have did me well for moisturizering and styling my hair. Haven't try those products you have tried because these have worked for me but for Jojoba oil with Shea Butter I use Dr. Miracles Hot Gro Treatment with those oils.

      As with any product line, Shea Moisture offers different products for different textutrss and hair needs. I cosign the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil line. I began using it about 3 mos, because my hair was a dry, tangled mess on was day. I tried a lot of products that some you tubers swore by. They just weren't right for me. With SM Jamaican Black Castor Oil, my hair has grown tremendously thickened. It's not nearly as dry. I also use the shampoo, conditioning mask and leave in conditioner. I also tried other SM lines that weren't bad for my hair, but not nearly as good as the castor oil. So..it's not that they are false marketing. We need to research and ensure that the products are for our hair types. All black people don't have the same type or texture of hair, and SM doesn't just make products for hair types of the African diaspora either.

    I tried the intensive moisture line because it was on sale at my local grocery store for about $8 each product. Using Cream of Nature's ACV clarifier, then the shampoo and mask of that line, and finally the leave in from this line I got at target and wow. My hair has never felt so moisturized....its a game changer for me. Best leave in ever
