I remember reading the part where Alysanne writes about trying to take Silverwing north of the Wall and Silverwing continually turning back. Gives me literal chills every time.
Yes, I remember being puzzled when Daenerys easily took her dragons over The Wall in the show, but it also challenges the ASOIAF fan theories that Daenerys will go to the far North beyond the wall to defeat the Others...
@@Dylan-ty2ii Also, rocket dragons/ravens. Somehow, it takes only a day for Gendry to run back to the Wall(they're way up in the Frostfangs)and half a day for a raven to fly allll the way South to Dragonstone and even less time for Dany to fly all three of her dragons North of the Wall to arrive just in time to save the day. As I said for most of season 6 onwards, the show liked to fuck with us and pretend characters would die, only to have them saved last second(Tormund in "Beyond the Wall", every single character in "the Short Night", etc;
@@phousefilms yeah tbh in season 7&8 characters were just teleporting to wherever the plot needed them to be. I recommend you check out the GoT season 7 and 8 Pisstakes by Glidus if you haven't already
Technically the only queen other than Rhaenys and Visenya who was given any voice in how things went in the Seven Kingdoms. Alyssa Velaryon(wife of Aenys)didn't have much voice in the council, Naerys and Rhaella were whipping girls for their husbands lusts and whims(despite Aegon 4's infidelity and Aerys's madness), Baelors sister-wives were locked away in the Maidenvault, Rhaenyra had become unhinged by the deaths the elder two of her Strong sons and everyone considered her the female Maegor(and she never even got to be remembered by the title of queen because of what Aegon II decreed(though why didn't her son, Aegon III just overturn it when he became king? Lol). Alysanne was universally loved, just like Jaehaerys.
It means a lot when the partnership is one where the couples actually appreciate eachother input, ideas and goals enough to share power. It allows wonderful things to happen from that marriage, rather than just being a political relationship where the man is in charge and the wife has little to no say in how things are run.
Reading this chapter it’s very interesting. I love how lord Alaric Stark basically tells the queen how things go down in the north like we’re surviving out here were not throwing balls and having party and being joyful here. Love how lord manderly tells the queen that lord Stark not like but respected tells you all you need to know about the Starks of the north. I appalled the queen for not giving up on the Starks but also respecting his choice on who his sons should marry. Silverwing not wanting to fly over the wall has to do with the spells or magic that was place inside the walls or around to keep any other magic from getting in and getting out.
I really like hearing about characters from other parts of Westeros being invested in the myths and cultures of other parts, like how Arya admired Princess Nymeria enough to name her Direwolf after her, or how Shireen Baratheon was obsessed with reading about the Targaryen's early reign from when they still had dragons. Queen Alysane must've been aware of the Long Night story to an extent, and was probably intrigued by the myth of White Walkers and the Night King. Whether or not she actually believed in them is another story.
for me what makes this idea even more thought provoking is how the myths of westeros are so universal across the seven kingdoms despite the sheer scale of the land its self. it really shows how impactful a lot of these myths and tales were.
@@WorldOfWesteros My only thought is that she had been chosen by the prophecy. Yes, “prophecies are dangerous”, but The Conqueror, Visenya, Rhaenys and Orys wouldn’t have blinked to go deal with the White Walkers if they knew it mean destruction for their new realm. Daemon Targaryen, too, would have gone because he loved adventure and got bored easily. Daemon Blackfyre and Bittersteel would have gone with armies if it meant a leg up on Daeron. But they didn’t. They didn’t know. Daenerys knows (or she will).

I imagine the dragons 🐉 being giant lizards (wyverns) are cold blooded. And unlike plot bending Danny's dragons the dragons would hate the north and avoid it like the plague. Which is why the white walker threat could safely hide where dragon flame couldn't reach
@@WorldOfWesteros the only other explanation is magic. Theirs a magical barrier that starts at the wall. The dragons flew until they hit a magic barrier and the night king hid behind that and that limit is where they built the wall.
Yeah I can imagine that there might have been something going on between Alaric and Alysanne. I could see The consolidator being ok with it as long as it bought loyalty from the north. He was very pragmatic.

I love how ominous it is. Makes Danny going north over the wall in the show make even less sense.

Alysanne was the best Queen in Westeros' history and literally nothing can change my mind/
She's 100% the best, there are some other great ones too, but there is a reason she is remembered when so many others are not.

Alyssane is just an amazing Queen. She LISTENED. She LEARNED. She went there first hand and EXPERIENCED.
If that ain't a Queen, what is?
She was one in a million

I never noticed how odd that moment was before, little bit suspect.

Alyssane and Silverwing were the first Targaryen and Dragon to feel that something was very off north of The Wall. 😵💫
It's why i find Danny flying over the wall in the show so bizarre

Dinosaurs were, at least partially warm-blooded. They didn't even breathe fire! So I think dragons would be warm blooded as well.

Good job on this video m8
Thanks a lot for the kind comment
I can’t help but think about princess Diana
Alysanne's scort got those wildings killed, and she, a dragon queen, didn't knew about frostbite.
Did she know about Aegon’s dragon dream?
Probably not, but you would think Jaehaerys would've told her not to go beyond The Wall. 🤷♂
