The Many Children Of Jaehaerys & Alysanne (Jaehaerys Reign) Game Of Thrones History & Lore
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 лип 2020
- Jaehaerys and Alysanne had the most children out of any king and queen in the history of the seven kingdoms. In total, they had 13, but some did die as babes. Some would die young, and some would go on to chance Westeros forever. In this video we'll take a look at some of there many children, and how each one of them presented the king and queen with a unique challenge. We also talk about the massive divide between there older children and those born later in life. Having this many children is seen by some to be one of the direct causes of the Dance of Dragons many years later.

Vaegon Targaryen is a pretty cool name. Now I wish at least one of the Targaryen Kings had that name.
I know right. I get Aegon was traditional but it seems to be all the younger kids who got the cool names
This is what the crusader kings mod is for 😎
That name is Awesome, what if instead of the letter V there was a Z😮 or X....
@@realbabyeater
Which one?
As a spanish speaker, it kinda sounds like "vago" which means lazy
Prince baelon was called baelon the brave bc when he first visited the dragon caves in kings landing, at the age of 6 he hit balerions nose.
2:56 honestly thank god Alyssa was Wed to Baelon instead. They were pretty much smitten even as kids.
Aemon and Jocelyn were a decent match.
Odd they only sired their one daughter, Rhaenys though.
@@philippeblais8594 Maybe there were miscarriages and when they finally had one healthy daughter they decided not to have any more children because there would be a possibility that Lady Jocelyn would die in childbirth.
@@juana_marie I guess we'll never know since George never went into much detail about Aemon and Jocelyn's relationship aside from them getting along quite well and having Rhaenys.
@@philippeblais8594 Yeah, I'm just waiting for the winds of winter release, probably never happening but hey atleast grrm released teaser chapters
I feel bad for Vaegon. Yeah he was rude to his sister but you can’t blame him. He wants someone who does more than yes and nod their head. If he wanted such, he’d get a chicken as a pet
It’s very clear Vaegon wanted to be his own man. Possibly part of the problem is Alysannes obsession with making matches and marriages. If they left him to his own devices maybe over time he’d found someone who suited him on his own back.
@@WorldOfWesteros Honestly, he was most likely asexual... I think he was delighted when he got permission to be archmaester. He was quite lucky with his life... unlike many of his siblings.
I can see it. Aemon standing in the dragonstones court yard when he hears a loud roar. When he looks up he see's a massive dragon that he can quickly tell in Vhagar.
"Vhagar has a new rider."(Aemon says to the people next to him.) As Vhagar circled the second time you could hear Aemon get excited when he realized it was he brother Baelon. "Look, its baelon a top of Vhagar." After cirling a third time Vhagar landed to the side of the castle since she was so large.
I love that good ol king Jaehaerys was full of "toxic masculinity" when it came to his sons lol.
"We'll put a sword in his hand that'll straighten him out!"
We need more of that lol

What's toxic about fencing/swordsmanship?
I got to admit “jaehaerys” is the most beautiful name George have came up with in his books.
I hope that'll be Jon's true name in the books.
@@saljpal3 it's most likely to be Aemon more than Jaehaerys
Maegor is best name!
@@herbthompson8937 it always comes to my mind king Robert (the actor) saying *meaGooooor* in his frustrated angry tune whenever I read the name. I don't know if it was really in the show show or my mind is doing things.
This documentary is awesome!!!! Nice work.
Thanks a lot, glad you liked it
We have a hub of sharp intellectuals at the citadel.
We have an entire martial culture surrounding Houses, producing fighters for warfare.
Surprising, that we see very few characters in ASOIAF that fit the, "Scholar-Warrior" archetype, often reminiscent of Eastern cultures.
"Pen and Sword,
In one Accord."
Felt magella was wasted so clever and they just gave her to the faith
She wanted to be in the faith 🤷🏻♂️
@@sidbid1590 I know but she would have been utilized better elsewhere
@@minatodroger7890 like where?
@@minatodroger7890where? They did not allow girls to study as Maesters
~~ Great Job ~~~
Vaegon Targaryen is my favorites
I really wish we knew a bit more about him and his life as a maester
@@WorldOfWesteros It would be cool if he showed up in HOT D but I doubt it.
So sad how nearly all of them died. If they had all lived the dance wouldn’t of happened. And the Targaryens would be even more powerful with how many there’d be.
Vaegon might've still been alive during the Dance.
I like how the obvious solution for Jaehaerys was to put a sword in Vaegon's hand and believe that would sort out his problems 😂
Leaving that aside, i love Jaehaerys. I just finished reading the chapter of his long reign and i approach his death, but he is by now the best king, obviously (not that i have much to compare him to, but comparing him to Aegon the Conqueror is a big deal, and i loved Aegon when i started reading).
Jaehaerys might have had his flaws, but he did the best he could in his reign. Might not have been the best father, but he was a great king. I don't know if the kings that will follow will match up to him, but i am yet to find out.
Does this have a first part where you talk more about the older siblings? Thank you!
I’m sure you’d find it on this playlist

Hey, great video, where can I find the Westeros map that u used?
Facts, commenting so I can see his reply.
Please can you correct 'click bellow for more' at the end of all your videos?
Thanks a lot. Your the first person to point that out. Can’t believe I missed that.
Good video sonichu
Thanks Chris
Even when his own family was fighting one another, jahaerys was still trying to keep peace all over the continent 👏👏
so did veagon just run away from home and never came back
Nope. He went to the Citadel as an arch Maester in maths and economics and never looked back.
Vaegon was the one who suggested to Jaherys to call a great council to settle the succession crisis
All the Baelon’s that could be king does before they take the throne
The first part confused me.. why didn't you say all of them in order? Starting with vagon .
Vaegon still Alive during the dance?
It hasn't been confirmed.
By the time of the great council, Vaegon is said to be 40. So plus 28 years puts him at 68 by the time the dance would start. Assuming he is still alive then.
I wish daella and viserra claimed dragons
Could you imagine if they had claimed Dragons, I bet the story would greatly differ. Oh well, we can only imagine & ask What If ?
I feel like dealla and greyghost would have been a perfect fit
@@greywolf1989 Which one would Viserra have claimed? I am betting on Dreamfyre.
CRACK THEORY:
Jaehaerys is a Dreamer and I think the main reason why he produced 13 children with Alyssane it's because he wanted to spread the blood of the Dragon all across the continent as a means to give the people the ability to tame a dragon and counter the oncoming Long Night not to mention the fact that King Jaehaerys has so many dragons at that time.
The only problem here is that it didn't went the way he wanted.
He might've wanted as many Targaryens as possible but he would've known it would be impossible the spread the blood of the dragon across the whole continent, because it would become too diluted. That's why Targaryens practice incest in the first place.
Anyone else think Vaegon had schizoid personality disorder?
