Never be nervous to talk about the things you love. The internet always needs more positivity and passion.
Exactly just like Ted Bundy on his trial! Talked about raping killing got the same sentence if it had a monkey for his attorney (the death penalty) and he did it always with a smile on his face! Cause a smile on your feet it's not a thing.....
@@Kimdracula1983 the last sentence cracked me up
@@omegazx7236 thanks
@@Kimdracula1983 What the FUCK are you talking about?? What on earth has complimenting positivity, passion and doing what you love on the internet have to do with Ted Bundy and raping and killing people ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
@@Kimdracula1983 now that you're sober, care to explain wtf you are taking about?
I have The Ring on VHS and it plays 'the tape' sequence followed by a ringing phone noise before the FILM starts
That's so fkn awesome!
I remember when I first watched it, it was in vhs too! I had to sneak down into my friends basement to find it and her house was over 100 years old... we watched it in the butlers corner and I didn’t sleep for two days after that 😂😂😂
I watched this on TV back when white static came on after the channel ended, Needless to say I woke up and nearly died.
What you're saying is that you are more likely to die of covid-19 than the rest ?
I felt parts of the movie were good, mostly the tape. The girl coming out of the tv was dumb imo. What does anyone think of the original?
Emma! 40 minutes of movies YOU rate 10/10? I could cry from pure joy. I know I'm going to love this.
I have a question for you. Where do you watch all these movies? Do you have the subscription of all OTT platforms? And what about the movies that are not on OTT platforms? Where do you source the movies? Your answer will be of great help to me, a fellow horror lover.
Same!!
@@radhalote3827use fmovies, it’s pirated movies and it has pop up ads and opens tabs, so not completely ideal but it has like every movies for free bassically
People don’t like Hereditary? What?! How?! It’s honestly one of my favorite newer horrors.
I hated it, but I also didn't know there was a huge debate about it.
It’s a masterpiece, F ‘em. 💀🔥🎥
Unpopular opinion but I love the Evil Dead remake as a gore/ thriller. Also As Above So Below is a great thriller with cool lore!
Me too!! I don't know what it is about it, but it is very scary to me!!
The Evil Dead remake was good!!! Sadly has been pretty underrated.
@@Sky-si1iv I'm the opposite. I felt it was overrated. Not trying to be contrary, it just had a lot of problems with the writing. Some of the writing I felt was completely unneeded, and some of it was completely illogical. It's good as a gore movie, if that's what your main interest is, but the writing really brings it down for me. I would never watch it again.
@@Gregbaltzer that's cool, I appreciate the honesty and your opinion. It's good we're all different! I myself like it, but understand people won't all agree. Peace!
@@Sky-si1iv If you ever get the chance watch the Swedish remake of Evil Dead called Wither. I liked it more, but you may not.
Emma : ”I’ve watched alot of films”
Me interpreting : ”I’ve seen some shit man!”
that was the vibe she was giving hahaha
While shakily smoking a cigarette lol I know Emma doesn't smoke but it's always the visual I get when someone says that.
I don't think you're too harsh, kinda surprised to hear that folks say you are.. I don't always agree with you, but that's a good thing! You simply have good taste and reasonably high standards.
❤️❤️
Alien is another 10/10.
"The Orphanage" is a beautiful film. Not only is it frightening, but also very moving. The final scene always gets me. Another moving film about the dead returning is "Truly, Madly, Deeply." It's classified as a comedy, but it's really about letting go and moving on. Again, the final scene always makes me weep.
Luv Tye Orphanage & Pans Labyrinth too!
I love The Sixth Sense, that scene with Toni Collette & Haley Joel Osment in the grocery store parking lot is so great and emotional. I get teary eyed every time I watch it.
Great list, Emma! So many great ones I agree with…Eyes Wide Shut, Black Swan, Silence of the lambs, Us, Hereditary, The Ring…I’m SO glad you included The Handmaiden. It blew me away, it’s just incredible!! Everyone needs to watch it. My list would also include I Saw The Devil, The Thing, The Shining, Texas Chainsaw, Halloween, Se7en, Zodiac, Suspiria, Train to Busan, Get Out, and Midsommar.
🙌🏼🙌🏼 great picks! I seriously could have gone on forever
Yes definitely Se7en, The Thing, I Saw The Devil, Train To Busan, Get Out and Suspiria.
@@spookyastronauts Oh, and The Wailing!!! Such an amazingly scary ride.
@@MsBluheart The Wailing is SOOOO good!! 🙌

Hearing you talk about Perfect Blue makes me want a video of animated horror/thrillers from you 😅
Yes! A review of Perfect Blue would be awesome!
Great movie. Also looooove Paprika. RIP Satoshi Kon ❤.
watch "elfen lied"
Beauty water.
Belladonna of sadness.
For a movie that starts one way (I'm a westerns fan) then derails into another: Bone Tomahawk.
Good one but as a huge western fan I wad so disappointed by the twist....
Loved Bone Tomahawk. Brutal but so well done. So much heightened fear.
I went into Bone Tomahawk completely blind and loved it. I even recommended it to my friends… let’s just say not everyone was as enthusiastic as I was! I wish there were more great horror/dark thriller/western movies. If anyone knows any other than Bone Tomahawk and No Country F.O.M., please gib 🙏
Have to say Jaws is perfection 10/10 , the opening scenes so brilliantly scary , how could I forget jaws 😄
Prisoners is definitely a 10/10 for me.
Omg I’ve seen that film I think 4 times now. It’s just as chilling when you know what’s going on.
@@spookyastronauts Absolutely Right 🔥👍
Agreed! And sooooooooo underrated!
So good!
My favorite part in "Silence of the Lambs" is Buffalo Bill! I love him and the song "Goodbye Horses"!
Room messed me up so much, it’s perfect
Yes. Please do non-horror list
For me the non horror number 1 best film would be "One flew over the Cuckooks Nest" or the recent "Parasite "
@@bo2720 both are great films!
Cats 🐱 the movie 🎥 😲
One of the main reasons I watch you is the fact that you are so discerning with your high ratings. It helps me in compiling my own to watch list. I have come to find I often agree with many of your less than obvious choices.
Thank you. I always get a lot of crap for rating films between 4-8 but I think this video proves there are films out there! It’s just more rare
For my list I would add The Blackcoat's Daughter, It Follows, Pyewacket, Drive, The Mist, Nocturnal Animals, Summer of 84, Incident in a Ghostland, and The Dark and The Wicked.
I loooove Nocturnal Animals! Agree!
Pyewacket is sooooo good, that’s a hidden gem for sure.
Someone finally mentioned pyewacket. That movie was good and so different. Ghostland was awesome also
You my friend have fantastic taste😙🤌 some others I would add out of sheer personal taste…Raw, Don’t Breathe , I See You, Hard Candy, The VVitch, The Conjuring, The Uninvited(underrated IMO), A Perfect Getaway, The Skeleton Key, As Above So Below, Evil Dead(2013)
Pyewacket is good. So is The dark and the wicked. But yall should watch Starry Eyes. That was good
FINALLY! another Pet Sematary fan. We are a sparse breed. Ever since sneaking it on the sci-fi channel as a kid it's haunted and stuck with me. Good list!
Thank you. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I love the book and the movie! I also like sequel 😄
Pet semetary is one of the few movies to legitimately make a child frightening. Let's not talk about the dumpster fire of a remake though, sometimes dead is better.
@@magoog9864 oh gosh Ik right I was so disappointed with the remake. It just couldn't hold up with the fever dream that was the original. I also agree I take the sequel over it as well. The shot of Gus peaking through Eddie furlong's window was brilliant. 😱
@@magoog9864 I see what you did there.

Consequently, Misery is also Stephen King's favorite adaptation of one of his books too.
@@ddc2957 coming right from his mouth on Eli Roth's history of horror seems like a good source.
@@lilithacaciaWell … I would not give too much on it … this seems change from interview to interview … seen interviews where he said Stand by Me & The Shawshank Redemption are the best movie adaptions of his books …
Thumbs up for Vincent Price and all those Roger Corman/Edgar Allan Poe movies.👽
Loving this vid 😊 The Silence of the Lambs and also Se7en for me have such beautifully morbid cinematography, so many stunningly sinister stills in those films.. 👌😍
Remember the Silence of the Lambs video night back then … watched together with the original Flatliners … awesome night … shit … its 33 years … Seven was initially great … but each time I watched it liked it less …
I watched Pet Sematary as a kid and whenever Zelda was on screen I would get scared AF. I remember sleeping with the lights on on the living room and made my dad to be with me because I was afraid she would appear.
40 minutes?!? hell yeah 🖤
Gerald's Game is so underrated that I don't know why it got so many bad reviews. Handmaiden is fantastic, but Burning is still better for me. Impetigore, Misumiso, The Perfection, Kamera o Tomeru Na (Horror/comedy), Apostle are some of my favorite horror movies in the past 2-3 years.
Standing ovation for including Theatre of Blood and Dead Alive(use to watch once a year).
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I can already tell what horror movies you like from this comment
@@spookyastronauts Oh yes, KUDOS for BrainDead. Such a leap from Bad Taste.

I watched The Orphanage last night and I loved it! Thanks for all the great recommendations!✌️
A) This is a great list.
B) THANK YOU for your Caveat review. I'm usually dissatisfied with ambiguous films with loose ends, and this movie has several--but I actually find that I LIKE not knowing what happens in the end, or why the brother kept implying the father was not a good man.
That entire sequence with the main character in the crawl space with the body had me clenching my b-hole. No cheap jump scares. Supremely masterful work with lighting and darkness and musical score. I hope they decide to release this Shudder movie on DVD as well!
Chernobyl is another. This is the 5 hr long one broken up on HBO. I saw it recently and was blown away. For me, it was incredibly immersive and visceral.
I honestly can't disagree with you on most of these. You picked some really amazing movies.
You can't be a quality reviewer and give everything a high score. I would be so disappointed if you were a crowd pleaser and hyped everything. I rely on trusted recommendations and they have to be harsh. I don't love everything on this list but I respect your opinion. How good was the year 1999? Is there 3 picks from that year? Anyway, thanks for this awesome video. I have such good memories of seeing some of these films.
@HarambeLives23 no I was referring to what she said at the start regarding her last review and the comments she's been receiving.
I'm at Misery on the video and I must say that I like Misery and Kathy Bate's portrayal but I LOVE Delores Claiborne more. They are both Stephen King thrillers that star Kathy Bates. I just feel like Delores Claiborne is more underrated. I rarely see it on any lists, probably because its more of a psychological drama more than a thriller/horror. But, I always seem to turn away from any popular movies that are great. Just something I can't help and this is a perfect example of that.
And yes, The Handmaiden is EXCELLENT! I have it on my rewatch list...so good, compelling, twisty, shocking, sexy...it's EVERYTHING! 💜💜
Delores is my fav too… but it’s not horror or thriller :)
Great list! Happy to see Misery on here especially. Would love to see a non-horror list!
"Hereditary" freaked me the fuck out. Totally Disturbed the Hell out of me. I was scared of the datrk and that something was behind my diveder wall, for a couple weeks. I became strong, healed. I'm not scared of anything(even death). "The Killing Of A Sacred Deer"was off the chain!!! I loved it. You keep up the good work, sweetie. You're nt too harsh at all, either. I Love You,Emma😍😘😻👊♨🔥♨🔥♥❤💚💙💘💖💟💞
Aren't we lucky to be so spoilt for choice in these genres? Excellent list :)
Thanks Luna!
I just found your channel and I am already obsessed! The fact that Theatre of Blood is on this list made me scream out loud!!! It is one of my all time faves and it is probably my favorite Vincent Price movie, it is so underrated so I am beyond trilled to see it get some love.
I just watched Black Swan, sooo good all around, perfect film
Prevenge is a great shout out. That movie really showed how much you can do on a tiny budget and in such a short time
Great List! Misery is my all-time favorite movie not only the acting and storyline is good but I enjoy some of the music at the beginning of the movie.
Geralds Game was a book I thought could never be adapted. One character in one setting. But the film totally blew me away. So good
Omg I was actually trying to see if you had a 10/10 horror movie recommendation. This is great!

Black Swan is one of my top three favorite movies of all time, and I wrote a massive literary paper on a comparison of it and Perfect Blue my senior year of college. I feel like it's rarer nowadays to see people praise that film as much as I always wish they did. I'm so glad to find someone else who really loves it!
It is an amazing movie, nathalie portman was so great in it.
Never seen the 1989 Pet Semetary but it’s my favorite Stephen King book I’ve read so far. It’s such a damn good book.
hi hannah
I was so happy to see The Sixth Sense included! This is one of my favorite films!
This list was great and you've convinced me to watch Gerald's Game but... What is that shade of lipstick? It's so pretty, I have to know!
Well, this sounds nuts....but I could swear that lipstick is Charlotte Tilbury. Either Legendary Queen or Bond Girl.
Wearing my Klownzilla shirt while watching this video. Killer Klowns is one of my desert island films for sure.
Omg I only watched A Quiet Place II yesterday and I have to agree with you that it's even better than the first film! Was super tense and loved how the only flashback was at the beginning, in order to give more context.
The Wailing, The Chaser, Tale of Two Sisters, Old Boy, Lady Vengeance, The Host, Mother, Mother!, Irreversible, High Life, Bastards, Trouble Every Day, Raw, Riders of Justice, Livide, Inside, The Woman, Coherence, Kill List, A Field In England, Black Bear, Eyes Without A Face, Don't Look Now, First Reformed, Martyrs . . . . . YES, there are way too many great horror thrillers, especially in these last few years.
Ok this was the sign I needed to finally check out Killer Klowns. Also solid list!
Cheese, but if you like Tomatoes....or Basket Case....
LOVE to see that Killer Klowns from Outer Space representation!!!
Oh my god I can’t wait to watch this. Ok, I’m gonna watch this now. Thank you!
One of my absolute favorite things about all of the Stephen King books that I've read are the back stories that are told about the supporting characters. I will never get enough of the entertainment that goes into every book of his on account of being able to know exactly what has happened with each person that appears and how they fit in play a part and the protagonists life and even to death in most cases.
Such a fun video! I've seen almost all of these and loved them, so I'm super excited to watch the one or two I haven't seen. And YES. It IS so hard to choose!
the sixth sense will always be my favorite movie, of all time. that ending blew me away. amazing concept 10/10
I loved Gerald's Game too. Never read the book. And Silence of the Lambs is 10/10 a hill I will die on.
Silence of the Lambs is a perfect movie. Flawless. Everything works. Its rare
Loved the book and the movie was awesome as well thanks to Mike Flanagan
Gerald's Game kind of blew me away. I almost cried and I ever cry over movies.
Great list Emma and very surprising. I’ve seen all the movies except Room. I liked most of them. I appreciate the fact that you really went for it. You had a lot of shockers that I doubt would be on many other peoples lists. Killer Klowns, a b horror movie. Theater of Blood, a classic horror. The Sacred Deer and The Handmaiden never would have come to mind, but these are your picks and I certainly appreciate that you didn’t go for the big time staples that you find on most top horror lists. You’ve got me wanting to revisit some of these now and I appreciate that.
Agree with Pet sematary, Blair witch project, The Ring and Hereditary! 😍
Absolutely would love to see your non horror list as well! Great video as always x
I can totally agree with a lot of the films you listed! I’m just missing a couple of films to watch. Also wanted to recommend the Spanish film “el orfanato” directed by Antonio Bayona. Can you do best horror books I love the same scares as you like paranormal and ghosts.
Great video Emma, I really appreciate the time it takes to make these videos. I 100% agree with you on 'The Blair Witch Project', it's still really unnerving, scary because of what is left to your imagination and the way the film is edited.
*it's also the only film I own on VHS 📼
Yes! Room, Hereditary, Killer Klowns, Ring, and Gerald's game are sooo good. Quiet Place 2 was pretty good and I agree that the second is just as good as the first or better, the opening was so good! Took two recommendations from this, thanks! Shamed that I haven't seen Silence of the Lamb and Killing of Sacred Deer yet. But I don't understand the hype around Us, I honestly would give it a 3/10. Us was so predictable and cringy. I never understood what people saw in it. Regardless, thank you for your honest list!
Love these types of videos from you. I love your passion 💜
i literally put on the handmaiden due to this vid! i love your recommendations always 👍
I also have always loved Toni Collette. Have you seen her in Velvet Goldmine? Not many people I know have seen it, but she is the BEST part of that whole movie. But, it also has Ewan McGreggor, Jonathon Rhys Myers, Eddie Izzard, Toni Collette, Christian Bale....
I’ve been wanting to find your highest rated movies!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!!
As a woman, and a UA-camr, i think you're damned if you do, damned if you don't in terms of high ratings. Fairness is often mistaken for not being agreeable for women a lot. I hope you continue to stay true to YOU. that's what most of us here for: we respect your opinion, skills, knowledge and perspective, even if some people don't always agree. That's the beauty of diversity!
Great video Emma :) I think like you and your choice of Pet Sematary for nostalgic reasons, I would have to go with An American Werewolf in London. Watched it on VHS at a friends place when I was 11, we were hyped all week to watch it. By the time we were halfway through, he was in tears and had to leave the room, where I was glued to the TV watching in awe with a huge grin across my face. I knew right there and then that horror was my genre of choice.
Remember they showed the transition scene during family Saturday night TV show … shockingly flashed me … I was 9 and descended into the faults of horror … at 11 we swapped all the banned stuff on the schoolyard … lived in Germany back in late 80s … the shit was cut or banned or both … but my home country was none the better … in UK too … horror fans nowadays cannot understand how relaxt the times today are … and how cheap todays releases are … back then a 2nd to 4th generation VHS copy of a rare uncut movie did cost 2-4 times the money a release today costs.
You're not alone. The original Pet Sematary is one of my favorite horror films of all time and one of my favorite horror endings of all time as well. I also have a very close friend who cites it as the scariest film he's ever seen, and he absolutely loves it also.
Well … its one of the 80s classics … a masterpiece … surprised that it is seen ad ‚cheesy‘ nowadays … never came across negative feedback for the book or movie …
I watched Theater of Blood because of your other video about it. And I absolutely loved it! It’s in my top films now. My husband really enjoyed it as well and he’s not a horror fan like me.
One of my very favourite horror/thriller movies, not on your list, has to be Doctor Sleep (Director's Cut). Really really solid, it was such a surprise, and a very refreshing one.
Gerald's Game is up there, with The Killing of a Sacred Deer, too. Great list, Emma!
Killing of a Sacred Deer is 10/10 for sure! sad there's apparently backlash against that opinion. I recommend people who liked the Yorgos style but felt underwhelmed try watching it again; the surface plot seems too simple by the end, but it really becomes a masterpiece once you see what it's going for.
no offence but I never really understand why people think that people who have watched a film and didnt really like it first time are going to to spend their time to watch it again - its been its happened they didnt like it move on
I absolutely love your videos and reviews. I've only been subbed for maybe 6 months, but watch almost every video you put out (unless it's a movie I plan to watch, even if it's spoiler-free, I like being as blind as possible), but I was wondering if you have a physical media collection? You showed you VHS, but I would love to see what else you have in your collection!
I love the Killing of a Sacred Deer and the Lobster and the Favourite. It’s definitely an acquired taste but damn👌 it’s for me. You’re not crazy for liking it I don’t get why people don’t like it!! It could actually happen in real life so for me it’s scary.
@p o o p dogtooth is okay and really weird 😅
So loved those movies!!!!!
The ring is one my favorite horror movies. I am so glad you put it on your list
In Room, I started crying so hard when the boy says, "I love you grandma" and then I cried again when Brie Larsen has her breakdown & says she's a horrible mother and the boy says, "But your *my* mom."
It’s so sad!
What made me feel worse was when she came back to her old room on her house, seeing all her stuff when she was a teen, her photos with friends, everything of that was gone 😭
@@wildbelles That got me too! That's one of the few things that I think was better in the movie than the book. I connected with Ma on a deeper level because it made me think of everything she missed
I really thought I would see The Wailing on this list!
Loved Hereditary of the recent ones mentioned. Misery, The Exorcist and The Ring of the older ones. Hellraiser imo deserves a place in a top 20 (closely follows the great novella by Clive Barker). I think all the crap sequels hurt it's reputation.
This video has definitely added a lot to my watchlist! Great recommendations some absolute stellar movies for sure! I would maybe add The Revenant and Sunshine

I really like the channels format and your personality! Super clean, kind, and fun! But I dislike so many films that you love !!! Lol, :-) I couldnt even make it half way through Geralds Game. You did turn me on to Oddity though, and that was awesome!!
So absolutely silly for folks to fault you for having a different opinion. What a boring world it would be if we all thought the same way.
Edit: That being said, I do respect you more because you loved Jordan Peele's US (kidding) such a fun and solid film that doesn't have one boring moment, IMHO.
