That is one sexy beast of a car, man!! I'm a 70's/80's kid, and I can tell you, I prefer cars from the 1930's - 1970's with 50's cars as my favorite. I WANT THIS CAR!!!
Although i am an old timer and remember when the 57 came out when I was 10 or 11 years of age, (the commercials were fantastic - couldn't take your eyes off the car), I still marvel at American know how back in the fantastic 1950's. The greatest generation believed anything was possible when you were a free American. American the beautiful is gone with the wind.
williamabeck46 I looked up some of those commercials online recently and I agree. the marketing for these vehicles was fantastic. it kept you glued to the screen wanting to see more.
I remember as a kid in the fifties, these amazing retractable hard tops, to make the car into a convertible...the only problem (aside from when the mechanisms eventually broke down), is the trunk space naturally was very very limited for baggage, etc if going on a trip...but what a car...man o man...
This is fantastic! The top function is perfect. My understanding is that it is very difficult to get the top timed correctly to make it a smooth operation. Very nice work! One thing, it still bothers be that every video I watch has the driver with the cruise-o-matic running in D2. That starts the trans in second. It should be driven in D1 which will get you a quicker/stronger take off in first gear. D2 is for snow - mud - slippery surfaces. Ford didn't change that until the late '60's when they started calling it "Select Shift" which gave a second gear start in 2 of the 1-2-D.
I'm looking at a rough 59 Skyliner black and white. Its rust free. Been sitting in a garage over 30 years. It comes with a complete 59 Galexie 2dr hardtop It would be a total restoration. I'm debating?? I may do it.
I would guess that the original owner had the continental kit added because boot space was so limited on the Skyliner models. The 58' model year is much more attractive than the '57.
John, its not a delicate car they've survived SIXTY years & changing a radio station didn't destroy anything. Mabye you need to stick with newer delicate vehicles like you.
@@samspace81 I didnt say that because I thought the car was delicate! I said that because your not going to find a radio knob for that at the 99 cent store. The guy has no respect for the car. And did i mention I dont care what you think?
WHAT A NICE CAR HARD TOP CONVERTABLE.
FORD ALWAYS HAD A GREAT DESIGN
No doubt!
Absolutly beautiful. I had a 59 Skyliner for 35 years. I had it sold before I could even advertise it.
Awesome William. They are always fun to work with. Thanks for watching Samspace81
Man, that is a real beauty. Sure would be fun to cruise in this summer.
I'm a big fan of classic cars
You're in the right place

Even in 1974, traffic would slow n look, when you put the top down. Beautiful car!
Yes I bet, appreciate that Bruce!
Beautiful automobile!
Yes indeed! That was a winner, sold that car myself
beautiful car. my dad and I have been looking for a 57-59 car to restore. after watching this video I am set on a 58.

Thank you so much. I really enjoy making the videos. - Sam
Damn hella smooth when the tops went down. Well taken care of.
I thought only 1959 models had retracting roof.
Thank you for the enlightenment.
Very good looking unit as well
James.
Thanks again James
The retractable roof Skyliners were available from 1957 thru 1959 model years - This '58 is a real beauty - Would love to own it myself...
Back in the 70's It was fun to drop the top in Neutral while going down the beach at 25 miles a hour.
LOL Love it. I had a client with an old 57 T-Bird that did that with me in the car! He said we use to drive the crap out of these cars - SAM
I'm not suprised, this cars are the best.
I wish i can drive cars like this...
Beautiful looking car.

Cool if the price is right you cam always flip it. Be ready for a can of worms to fix that top.
Beautiful car but WHY the skirts and continental kit to hokey up its looks?
I don't know, opinions are like you know what! Thanks for watching, I liked both on that particular car and it sold so...
great-cool

+Rare VHS uploads I agree. That makes sense. Enjoy the channel.
My pick of the three is the 59..
Rare VHS uploads YES BUT THE 59 WAS VOTED BEST ALL AROUND AND BEST DESIGNED. CONVERTIBLE S WITH P WINDOWS AND AIR CONDITIONING, IS THE ULTIMATE.!!!
I liked the film "Crime Story 1986" and like "Classic car" their are format together .
+Choochat Prasertkun Was one of these in it?
samspace81 Yes, you can see a lot of classic cars in this movie.
+Choochat Prasertkun It's a TV series rather than a film.
Rare VHS uploads Yes, but now it is become the former TV series already.
+Rare VHS uploads : I invite you watch these series again on UA-cam.
esto si es un carro Caracas 2019
Appreciate you watching Alvaro
Want to sell it? I had one just like it in high school in 1967. Been looking for a really nice one ever since.
Hi Mike, I did that video about 10 years ago, long ago sold but I appreciate you. Hope you can find a car.
Move over, Christine!
Haha for sure, I have fun making videos

я очень сильно хочу купить такую машину это моя мечта с 4 класса
Appreciate your viewership ❤️ 🇷🇺 much love to Russian citizens
Beautiful vehicle but the boat anchor continental kit takes away the lines of the vehicle.
Fair assessment
Eat your heart out..."DaVinci"

I was worried the camera man was going to break all the knobs and levers, be gentle for Gods sake. Dont let him touch stuff anymore
