Richie McGlothlin: Yes, that would probably work but you would still have to make a cut on each side of the rib that's around the inside of the centre point of the coupling. Let me know if it works!
Joe Boirier: At 2:08 I mention that I used 1/2" foam from an old camp mat that I likely purchased from a store that supplies camping stuff such as Canadian Tire, a surplus store, etc. The craft foam that I suggested as an alternative is available at craft stores (of course). As I say in the video, layer up thinner pieces to achieve the desired thickness. Any closed cell foam of about 1/2" (12mm) would work. Stay away from polystyrene (Styrofoam).
Thank you for the very clear and perfect pace making this rod holder. I was able to follow along. Can't wait to make my son one for Christmas.
I have several of these now. Even Air Canada couldn't break one!
Thanks Flyswinger!
The Air Canada Standard is a rigid proving ground for sure. Was that the one where the pilot was wearing cowboy boots?
That's cool. Well done.
hey I just wanted to get on here and say I used this video to make my travel rod tube yesterday. it's a 23 inch long tube. Thanks so much!
David King: Thank you, but I'm sure your rod will thank you more!
Looks cool.
I like the additional rings on it.
They can also serve as a stop for a strap.
Christopher Ort: You got it! I've strapped them to handle bars, backpacks, boats, atv's, etc. A buddy of mine put a rifle sling on his!
yes this is what I'm doing with mine too. not sure what type of strap I'll use yet... suggestions are welcome. I'm thinking very lightweight
Very nice project. Something for my kids to build, better than buying a premade tube.
James Brendel: Make sure you take them fishing afterward!
Awesome. I'm going to make a couple!
Thanks!
G'day mate, where does the reel fit? Or does this not suit storing a combo?
@coreyshortland2074: It is for the rod only. I always remove the reel when not in use.
Use architectural PVC. No stamped text on it and comes in nice glossy colors. 🤗
That would certainly work! For me, the cost (plus shipping) becomes a factor as there's no local source. For ABS, I just walk into any hardware store.
Hey Paul.
Nice job. One small request.
Can the sound level go up a wee bit. Thanks John
Would coupling also work instead of cutting the ends out of the caps ?
Richie McGlothlin: Yes, that would probably work but you would still have to make a cut on each side of the rib that's around the inside of the centre point of the coupling. Let me know if it works!
Nice this is good.... very detail....
Where did get the foam please

Espectacular, te felicito
dante marasca: Gracias!
