Eduardo is a polyglot, and really appreciates your 2023 comparison of the Duolingo and Rocket language learning apps. I've used Duolingo in the past and it is a fine language learning course, but Eduardo is definitely a Rocket Man! Rocket's audio lessons and emphasis on grammar are extremely helpful for short brush-ups. Thanks John for another thorough language learning video.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, imo duolingo is ONLY okay for strictly word acquisition if you're also practicing grammar and whatnot elsewhere.
This video is so interesting! I had no idea that language learning programs have so many features and options. You really provide helpful information! Thank you.
So glad I found your channel. I hadn't even heard of Rocket. It sounds like a great program. I've been using Duolingo to learn Spanish. I really like the gaming aspect but hate the constant ads. It's great seeing my name advance up the leaderboard. I like how you suggested using both programs. I am definitely considering Rocket based on your review.
I am taking French with Duolingo. I always like French and since I am traveling to Paris I figure I will start learning it. Thanks for the review of both programs!
Thanks for the great video! Duolingo seems like a lot of fun for basic vocabulary but Rocket seems like the much better program if you are looking to be able to converse.
I've been torn between getting Babble and Rocket Languages but I can't deny how effective Duolingo is in keeping me engaged and helping with vocabulary. Duolingo is so bite-sized that I can bang out some review on breaks and it helps with my competitive nature to fight for first place in whatever league I'm in. Between Babbel and Rocket I definitely would prefer Rocket but if I had to eschew Duolingo, I might end up getting bored and moving on with how much Rocket is like a traditional course and requiring that full hour to get through the material. Still on the fence here, but I think Duolingo is going to win over Babbel because it's free, there are ways to mitigate the hearts issue (like practicing to refill hearts which also gives better XP than doing a review elsewhere) and they do give you the ability to mute the annoying ads. It's certainly not on the same level as Babbel, but Babbel is $80/year, Rocket is $180 for the entire thing and so if I had to stretch this out over a couple years, which is probably realistically what I'd end up doing, Rocket ends up being about the same price as Babbel.
Thanks for this video. I want to learn Italian and need d to pass the Italian language tests (CELI or CILS) which tests verbal, grammar and written so I appreciate how all your reviews cover these areas.
This is very I sightful. :0 I've only ever used duolingo since that's what they encouraged in school.. well also the budget constraints. My language goal though is to strengthen my Spanish. C:
Does the app really not support using a bluetooth headset or speaker on ios? I use bluetooth all the time and it works fine with every other app, but the rocket language app (ios) provides no way to connect to bluetooth. I'm in a trial period and have been really impressed with the program except for this issue, which is probably a deal-breaker for me. Let me know if this is supported or not.
I want to learn Igbo so badly but that's not a language the major players offer. While working on how I'll learn Igbo, I want to learn French, Mandarin, Arabic (I have a long list). I know it's possible. Just need to apply myself and find the learning style that works best for me.
I’ve been watching several of your language program shootouts and it seems quite useful. I’ve been using Duolingo for 4 years however my conversation skills are still weak. I’m a visual learner so maybe I should migrate to Babbel? Still not sure though.
Yeah honestly Babel language learning vs Drops language learning would be a good video to go over. They are similar (somewhat) but go at it a different attitude. Would be neat to see what you guys would have to say about the two in a comparison.
I use rocket languages and duolingo (free version) together. It makes me learn faster but I think rocket languages is better. I love that we can practice the conversations. Sometimes duo lingo can get repetitive but it does make the words easier to remember.
Great video! That was very helpful. I'm currently learning Polish. Definitely agree with how Duolingo is more of a supplement -- my fiance is fluent in Polish and I use Duolingo together with practicing with him!
Please tell me the best way of learning French up to a fluent conversational level in 7 months as I will be going to start with my bachelors in Brussels this coming September and I need to be fluent in French before that in order to do part time jobs there which will be essential to my survival there and therefore I request you to kindly guide me to the best web possible to become fluent in French within 7 months within a modest budget.
I want to learn Spanish because I live somewhere where the Spanish community is very large. Being able to communicate them in a more genuine way is something I value. Also this skill would create new opportunities for me in the future.
I see where you're coming from but if I would want to learn something for longer that 10 minutes daily, then I would just find a verified tutor instead of using an app.
Duolingo is teaching me Japanese. I enjoy the lessons. But the animated characters don't speak with Japanese accents. So, you could learn that language and confuse native speakers or others learning Japanese in other ways.
We are actually doing a review of SpanishPod101, JapanesePod101, and GermanPod101 right now. Taking our time with it to make sure we have a good feel for it...reviews coming in the next month or so!
I accidentally paid for super duolingo. Had 2 months free and didn't do much for the second month, so missed canceling, so now I'm doing Duo and Pimsleur German. One of my friends is also doing Duolingo, so we are kind of learning together. So, Pimsleur in the car and Duo at home. I like the game style of Duolingo.

Thanks..Excellent Duolingo vs Rocket Languages 2023 review
Another great video. Thanks!!

Totally agree
This video is so interesting! I had no idea that language learning programs have so many features and options. You really provide helpful information! Thank you.
Interesting, I'll be honest - I've barely ever heard anything about Rocket Languages... I'll definitely have to take a look at it. Thanks!

Nice, give it a try and let us know what you think
I am taking French with Duolingo. I always like French and since I am traveling to Paris I figure I will start learning it. Thanks for the review of both programs!
Glad we could help :)
Exactly what I needed to hear!

Good Video, I am have been looking for a good language app in addition to Duo for Japanese and these vids are quite helpful
No problem! Happy to help!
Great video. Very helpful. I wanna try Rocket! I’m trying to learn French.
Thanks for the great video! Duolingo seems like a lot of fun for basic vocabulary but Rocket seems like the much better program if you are looking to be able to converse.
Hey John! Thanks for another great review!! I hope to one day use one of these great applications to learn Spanish.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review! I have been trying out Duolingo, but Rocket looks more comprehensive
No problem!

All great points. Thanks for watching and sharing, and good luck!
I am still looking for the best combo of language learning apps. I think it is clear after seeing many of your reviews that Rocket is the way to go.
Thanks for this video. I want to learn Italian and need d to pass the Italian language tests (CELI or CILS) which tests verbal, grammar and written so I appreciate how all your reviews cover these areas.
No problem!!
Agree with Eduardo. Rocket is the way to go
This is very I sightful. :0

My language goal though is to strengthen my Spanish. C:
doesn't even seem close to me either. i like Rocket!
I've used the duolingo app and loved it, would be interested to see what I think of the other!
Give it a try!
I didn’t even know about Rocket! Good to know. The language I want to learn is French (over the next 2 years) thanks for the review!
Nice!!
I want to learn Italian because I’m Italian and would love to go to Italy one day

I stand corrected. I reset my phone and it works now.
Nice :)
Got your Rocket discount! Thanks so much
No prob! Thanks for watching!

Yep, that's the key. Thanks for watching!
This is a great video! I want to learn French so I'm going to check out Rocket!
Go for it!
I’ve been watching several of your language program shootouts and it seems quite useful. I’ve been using Duolingo for 4 years however my conversation skills are still weak. I’m a visual learner so maybe I should migrate to Babbel? Still not sure though.
Yes, look at Babbel or Rosetta Stone if you're a pure visual learner
Yeah honestly Babel language learning vs Drops language learning would be a good video to go over. They are similar (somewhat) but go at it a different attitude. Would be neat to see what you guys would have to say about the two in a comparison.
I'll get that into our queue!
I use rocket languages and duolingo (free version) together. It makes me learn faster but I think rocket languages is better. I love that we can practice the conversations. Sometimes duo lingo can get repetitive but it does make the words easier to remember.
I personally think it's a great combo b/c they're so different
Great video! That was very helpful. I'm currently learning Polish.
Definitely agree with how Duolingo is more of a supplement -- my fiance is fluent in Polish and I use Duolingo together with practicing with him!
Very cool!
I want to learn Spanish because it is the third most spoken language in the world and it’s easier than Mandarin.
I'd like to address which is better for ADHD
Please tell me the best way of learning French up to a fluent conversational level in 7 months as I will be going to start with my bachelors in Brussels this coming September and I need to be fluent in French before that in order to do part time jobs there which will be essential to my survival there and therefore I request you to kindly guide me to the best web possible to become fluent in French within 7 months within a modest budget.
I want to learn Spanish, Japanese, French, Korean, & more!
Nice! Thanks for watching 😀
Every time I watch a video where you compare with rocket languages it makes me want to try it even more.
It really is a good program...
Great video! I really want to learn Spanish, French, and Japanese. It’s a lot, but I think it will be worth it!
You got it :)
Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍
I want to learn Spanish for business and just for fun.
I want to learn Spanish because I live somewhere where the Spanish community is very large. Being able to communicate them in a more genuine way is something I value. Also this skill would create new opportunities for me in the future.
Really good reasons :)
I didn’t know about rocket seems great.
Answer for the question:
I’m learning German and I’ll try some Japanese after I get somewhat good at German.
Very cool. Thanks for watching!
I’ve mastered English and Pig Latin at a young age. Looking for another challenge and it’s learning Arabic for me.
That will be a challenge! Good luck :)
I see where you're coming from but if I would want to learn something for longer that 10 minutes daily, then I would just find a verified tutor instead of using an app.
Rocket for the win. The lifetime access (and the exceptional content) just places it in another league in my books.
Thanks for watching and sharing :)
Duolingo is teaching me Japanese. I enjoy the lessons. But the animated characters don't speak with Japanese accents. So, you could learn that language and confuse native speakers or others learning Japanese in other ways.
How does JapanesePod101 compare to Rocket Languages?
We are actually doing a review of SpanishPod101, JapanesePod101, and GermanPod101 right now. Taking our time with it to make sure we have a good feel for it...reviews coming in the next month or so!
I accidentally paid for super duolingo. Had 2 months free and didn't do much for the second month, so missed canceling, so now I'm doing Duo and Pimsleur German. One of my friends is also doing Duolingo, so we are kind of learning together. So, Pimsleur in the car and Duo at home. I like the game style of Duolingo.
It's actually a good combo, right?
@@TestPrepInsight i think so! Because Duo is gamelike as you said so it is a good combination! Your reviews are awesome as always!
Thank you!!
Rocket is just the best. Good Video!
Thanks
Who else is trying to make some Spanish gains with Rocket in 2023??? #ThisGuy 🤔😎🤓
haha nice!
Bruh. You're wrong. You need to get deeper into the Duolingo lessons to get long sentences and paragraphs.
Answer: I want to learn Japanese and Arabic
should review nico’s weg
I'm learning French to be able to reach out to some French families in my neighborhood.
Very cool!
I really like your videos and the language I want to learn in French
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
I tried doulingo last week and it was pretty good for vocab learning
Yep it's good for expanding vocab
I like the idea of using Duolingo as a supplement to Rocket
They pair together well for sure
I do Duolingo every day and I like it a lot
Same here. It still has value!
I want to get better at Spanish.
Thanks for watching Kevin!
I really wish Rocket Language had Dutch
Yeah...Pimsleur might be your next best bet
