Gamecube seems to have a higher frame rate than the PS2 while supporting pretty much identical visuals and better load times
PS2 is the reason the game's map was split up into smaller parts at least on the Xbox prototype it was gonna be one massive map like Crazy Taxi.
@@ClassicSonicSatAm strange how they werent able to pull this off when PS2 is known for stuff like that
@@ClassicSonicSatAm ps2 held back 7th gen most games were designed around what ps2 could handle
@@southsidetherealest2860 Not really, PS2 could support a heck of a lot more stuff but the first years of the console were really rough as it was a pain to develop for it, hence why most Dreamcast games from the same time period are usually better on the DC. Being fair the best console of the gen was the Xbox as not only did it have the best hardware but it also used DVDs, Nintendo held the GCN back by using "non-standard" media like the N64 severely limiting what the console could do later down the line (VCD has that video of NFS Carbon comparing the GCN with the Wii version, it's a good example of that).
So all in all
Xbox - Best overall
GCN - Held back by not using DVDs
PS2 - Held back by underpowered hardware and lack of proper tools for development during its early years
DC - Held back by underpowered hardware (yes, unbeknownst to people the DC was weaker than the PS2, do your own research if you don't believe me), not using DVDs but the similarities to arcade hardware made it very easy to develop games for during its hay day
@@istalo1 ps2 has a better cpu for more polygons lets break it down Im tired of PS2 fanboys lying.Dreamcast is more effective at textures, anti-aliasing, and image quality, while the PS2 is more effective at polygon geometry, physics, particles, and lighting. The PS2 has a more powerful CPU geometry engine, higher translucent fillrate, and more main RAM (32 MB, compared to Dreamcast's 16 MB), while the DC has more VRAM (8 MB, compared to PS2's 4 MB).Dreamcast has an higher opaque fillrate, and more GPU hardware features, with CLX2 capabilities like tiled rendering, super-sample anti-aliasing, Dot3 normal mapping, order-independent transparency, and texture compression, which the PS2's GPU lacks.Thats why Playstation 2 games have ugly textures it cant help it, even years after Dreamcast died Playstation 2 games remained looking like Plastation 2 games do to the GPU lacking features and to a low amount of VRAM.With larger VRAM and tiled rendering, the DC can render a larger framebuffer at higher native resolution (with an on-chip Z-buffer), and with texture compression, it can compress around 20-60 MB of texture data in its VRAM. Because the PS2 has only 4 MB VRAM,🥱 it relies on the main RAM to store textures. While the PS2's CPU-GPU transmission bus for transferring polygons and textures is 50% faster than the Dreamcast's CPU-GPU transmission bus, the DC has textures loaded directly to VRAM (freeing up the CPU-GPU😯 transmission bus for polygons) and texture compression gives it higher effective texture bandwidth! So stop the lies and excuses the tech speaks for itself and the games can be compared today if you hook them both to crt you can see what Dreamcast is doing on screen and what PS2 lacks on screen which is VRAM, higher opaque fillrate, and more GPU hardware features, with CLX2 capabilities like tiled rendering, super-sample anti-aliasing, Dot3 normal mapping, order-independent transparency, and texture compression, which again the PS2's GPU lacks these simple features that cause the game to have better image quality!!!
PS2 had the worse graphics out of all the consoles but fanboys just didnt care and made up shi as they are still doing today yall have a hivemind
loading time ,FPS NGC Win
Nintendo hasta usando discos tiene menos tiempos de carga 😅
Esse jogo precisa de um Remaster. Era muito bom. O melhor clone de Crazy Taxi.
GameCube load times and better performance, alongside the luxury of it being significantly easier to emulate, makes it way more worthwhile. It feels like a slight bum deal on PlayStation 2 with those minor inconveniences.
They look pretty damn similar. The only difference I can see if framerate and anti-aliasing, which was common with multiports of this time. Neither got a "bum deal" though, the PS2 appears very much playable.
Also those PS2 load times. Forgot how ass it was.
GC is way better: sharper and brighter images, original voice characterization rather than generic ones, not to mention the constant 50-60 fps vs the laggy PS2. And the load times, oh man
PS2 version has an unlocked framerate that can go up to 60 at some areas with tons of screen tearing, but the GC is solid 60, with minor hiccups here and there. Also some effects are missing in the PS2 version, like the rain puddles on the streets splashing whenever you drive over them.
Is the GameCube running double the framerate of the PS2 version?
They are both trying to hit 60fps, the GC just succeeds ways more often. You can see PS2 hitting 60fps sometimes in the footage.
Yes 👌
The GameCube is slightly more powerful than the ps2
@@OrdBanjo Not slightly, it trades blow with the Xbox, the PS2 was miles behind in comparison.
@@BlueEyedVibeChecker PS2 held xbox and gamecube back since games had to be cut down to work on ps2 some games would show more polygons and physics on xbox and gamecube an example I remember in high school when comparing nba live 2003 ps2 vs xbox the ps2 didnt have calve mucsles on the players just straight leg and the goal did not shake when you dunked it was big deal to us besides the bad image quality, ps2 fanboys could never admit it
Didn't Sega sue them on a copyright breach because of that hand pointing directions on top of the screen? Crazy Taxi like arrows are registered by them, just like the virtua buttons that change progressively views in racing games
I haven't seen this much rippin' & tarrin' since spring break '95.
I don´t know why but i always confuse "The Simpsons Hit and Run" with "The Simpsons Road Rage". The first was a Grand Theft Auto Parody and the second was a Crazy Taxi Parody. Nice comparisson only one thing: what do you mean by "Special chip"?
This game should’ve saw a Japanese release for the PS2 and Gamecube including Road Rage and The Simpsons Game. Why weren’t these games released in Japan? I find it utterly stupid how they weren’t released in the Japanese market. Am I the only person complaining about certain games not seeing a Japanese release?
@blazingsoulhunter2862 Tis rather strange.
Frame rate is really tanking on the PS2 version.
o Homer já fazia Uber antes mesmo da Uber existir kkkk
Wish we’d get a Simpsons Road Rage + Hit and Run remaster. Still hoping Hit and Run Refuelled happens one day because BFBB Rehydrated did.
It's just gonna end up sucking because ports or remasters end up half baked.
on game cube looks so great
"Duffman is thrusting in the direction of the problem!" So...this is a Crazy Taxi Taxi clone. Just with The Simpsons. Also face buttons as the throttle I'm not a fan of. Especially on the early PS2 Dual Shock 2 controllers. "I have the Need for Speed...and money." Great line read there.
Yeah. Its so on the nose that I can't believe nobody got sued.
I believe they did get sued.
@@tjames4597 Must have happened post-release then.
Well I think throttle was originally only face buttons in most racing games starting out
Willie: It's called road rage.
Bart: don't you mean crazy taxi.
Willie: no, do you want to get sued
Don't tell me that's how much the games cost now. I'm trying to find a GameCube copy and I'm not spending 225 for one game.
Just get a modded Wii and play it on Nintendont
ikr? I hope that is a joke.
@@ClassicSonicSatAm I don't need to mod, my original Wii will do just fine. 👍
I'll stick with my $10 PS2 version thanks!
Please upload: Xbox & GBA Version
Qualquer semelhança com Creazy Taxy, não é mera coincidência...
Or just get the Xbox version.
Cheap and you get the best performance.
Or just load it from Swiss, instead.
@@Crazy_Gamer_OG True that!
Both versions are flipping me off.
The gamecube version sounds compressed. It's better than ps2, but I'd go for Xbox.
I was intrigued by the replies to my comment so looked into the matter. According to the The Simpsons Road Rage Wikipedia page in 2003 Sega sued the developers and publishers for patent infringement because of similarities to Crazy Taxi. The page also had links to the Internet Archives Wayback Machine. One from December 2003 from IGN on breaking news of Sega lawsuit. The other link was a Wayback Machine site of the actual attorney who represented the defendants. In the lawsuit according to the profile Sega and the developers settled out of court for a undisclosed amount.
Só quem é BR vai entender a tumblr 😂
A versão do game cube não é melhor é muiiiiito melhor que a do PS2.
Oh god, does the Gamecube version really cost $225? Please tell me that is a joke.
Yes, it's fantasy.
I still hate how SEGA patent trolled the Crazy Taxi formula, which is why we haven't had any other clones of the game since Road Rage.
And what is Sega doing with it? Nothing. Because Sega is gonna Sega.
Umm, I'm fairly sure the CT open world reboot is still in development.
The gameplay is so close to Crazy Taxi, I'm surprised they got away with it.
GC
GameCube strawin
I should sell my GameCube copy.
225 dollar?!
ps2 more colorful
Game cubeinho Wins! 😂
$10 vs 225? if you are a pirate with a mind of a sonyer, sure.
GameCube WINS!!!
Sega Dreamcast wins kkkkkkk
PS2 looks better it's more vibrant 😊
ps2 has never been vibrant ever 😂😂😂stop it
concordo !
@@southsidetherealest2860 Have you ever seen the PS2 in RGB on a CRT? Clearly not.
@@perindeaccadaver6171 RGB CRT nothing can help it look good because it cant do textures with that terrible vram setup all ps2 games look bad compared to gamcube dreamcast and especially xbox
Ps2 wins $10
