I worked in sales for a commercial concrete company and moved into a finance role and saw how quickly they scaled from 15 employees to 60 employees after they had $1M in the bank. They hired experienced superintendents, foreman, and labor. They were able to go out and finance new work trucks, machinery, and tools to help scale. It wasn't what the owner of the company wanted but the team pushed him to do it because they all saw a great future for themselves and their families. They now generate around $25M/yr and the company is thriving. Everyone is happy and loves showing up to work!! I commented because my boss (the owner) reminded me of you and was one of the coolest guys I have ever worked for. He cared more about his employees (or the team as he put it) than himself.

Yeah, you really do need good guys. I’ve got an awesome crew. I was nervous as shit every time I hired a new guy and expanded but it’s lead to some really big rewards. It’s stressful as all shit now that my payroll is 10 to 12 K a week and I spend about 50,000 a month or better at supply houses. My expenses are over $1 million a year. I got a lot of people counting on me and at times I think it would be better to just scale down to just me but I kind of blew it up right out of the gate so I only flew solo for about 6 weeks. By 3 months in I already hired 4 guys. In all honesty, though it may be six in one hand, and half a dozen in the other. It’s probably an equal amount of bullshit Either way you go.

A lot of the customers I have right now is because they were customers of companies I used to work for. I was working out of my pick up truck for the first three months until I saved up enough for a down payment to buy a used 2019 work van. This was 2022. I now have an employee, and I’m quickly, realizing how scary this shit can be knowing that not only do I have to provide for my family, but now I gotta provide for this guy as well. My first full year I did $230,000 Revenue. I’m expecting $300,00-320,000 this year. I’d like to make a move into commercial jobs as I don’t have any yet. I mostly get jobs from Facebook or my one property management company that’s about %20 of my revenue. I also have a house flipper I roll with 3 full house remodels(gas,drains,water piping). Word of mouth is huge for me too. Any advice on snagging a commercial gig or two so I can get that repeat $$$ you’re talking about. Thanks for your time. I know how busy I am with just me and my guy, so I can only imagine how busy you are.
A lot of the commercial work I get kind of fell in my lap because I was a supervisor for a mechanical company for so long. I had a really good reputation in Dallas as a problem solver and a lot of people called me as soon as I got going. it’s been a lot of word-of-mouth for me as well though in commercial. I got hooked up with one really large general contractor building engineers at a university recommended me as a quality plumber to hire for their jobs. It’s been a bunch of shit like that. I didn’t realize when I was busting my ass for other other companies that I was building up my résumé and client list but I was. I was forced to hire and expand because I did over $1 million in revenue in the first seven months I was open. In February we did 180 K in revenue. But that comes for me doing so many construction jobs that are six-figure jobs. When it comes to just pure service it’s pretty hard I think to grow. That’s why I incorporated construction so early on. I found out I can get projects that would float guys for a month at a time that I could also pull off of to help me with service projects. But at this point, I’ve got to where I tell customers I’ll do service work for them but I won’t do drain cleaning. Since I’m hooked up with so many buildings through construction, that’s added a whole other level of service for me. I’ve also got a couple hook ups from my vendors at the supply house. I always fuck around with those guys and they like me a lot so they’ve recommended a lot of people to me. Including one of my biggest customers.
I’m a GC make between $30k-$50k a month with 5 employees I have no debt it’s nice once every thing is paid off then you make a ton of money it’s a long game for sure 👍🏽 I’m only 35’yearanold also 😊

I advertised on yelp and next-door and got a lot of calls when I first started. I haven’t advertised in months now though because I’m so busy.

I also decided since I didn't have a loud reputation yet, that I would pay offer better pay than any other plumbing company in my area to attract the right guys. Now I feel hour stress... 8k or so payrolls, 30-40k or so a month to supply house, some contractors not paying on schedule... it's tough and you were very honest with it in your video
How do you bid a job? I do 500$ an opening new construction, 1000$ an opening remodel with no concrete , 1500 an opening for remodel with concrete. The dishwasher and refrigerator lines are freebies.
The way I do it is I get a fixture count first. I figure $1000 per sink, $1750 for one hole bathroom, and then over estimate the price of water heaters, drinking fountains, shit like that. And that’s just what I figure as my material cost for fixtures. Then I figure my materials, insulation, specialty tools, equipment, rentals, subcontractors, PPE, plastic and shit like that. Once I have the total for all my materials and fixtures, I’ll then figure my labor. I figure how long I think it’s gonna take me to do the job on each phase. I overestimate by a day or two on every phase. I figure $1100 is my cost for a three man crew. I figure that cost at $1700 for overtime or weekends. Once I figure my cost for labor and materials all together, are usually try to double that number. But at a bare minimum, I will take that total number and divide it by .7 to give me a 30% margin on that bitch.
Shit made sense this coming summer I'm gonna try to start up on a more professional deal then what I'm doing now. Do you have any ideas for someone with little capital

Sorry it took me so long to reply. after videos get a little older they don’t let me know when people comment. I personally don’t think it’s a good idea to get a loan with these high interest rates. One of the vans I financed I had a 19% interest rate on. After that, I’ve only bought all of the vehicles cash. The truck I used to start my business I paid 7000 cash for outside of that I had $10,000. And with that $10,000 I was able to get my website set up, LLC, necessary, tools, etc. I hit the ground running from there and it took about a week and a half before I was busier than a Christmas sweater. I definitely don’t think I would’ve wanted to have any extra payments early on. I’m coming up on a year and I’m about to buy my sixth and seventh vehicle cash. So I still don’t want to do loans even though I’m bringing in over 200 K a month now.
